This was such a brilliant discussion and yes, not an interview. It was not rushed and the virtual audience participation format together with the insightful perspectives from a great writer was pure bliss to watch. Dan Wooton you did great.
NO - publishers should not change books written in the past as they reflect the times they were written in. Neither should actual history or the real life characters of those times be changed to suit todays values and narrative.
Its perfectly possible to have adaptation. I have read no fewer than five spin iffs if pride and prejudice. They dud not attempt to change the original. They were inspired by the original.
I bare no animosity towards Jeffery Archer whatsoever. That said i read his not a penny more not penny less many years ago and in my humble opinion that book is a travesty. Indeed the story line is so contrived i could only finish reading that book on sufferance
I'm gay. When do we get to the point of 'over-representation'? I don't need to see a gay character in literally every book, film, or series. Its unrealistic. I am fine to have a story that involves 4 straight male characters.
It's ironic that Archer finally found fame and fortune as a writer of fiction. He had previously used fiction a little in the telling of his own life story.
Lovely! Good luck to your channel. Thanks for inviting my favourite author. Already downloaded the Zweig book recommended by Jeffrey for weekend reading. From Whitby.
Jeffery Archer is a great orator but can't say I agree on his stance about the jab, an experiment that only time will tell if it was the right thing to do. However I agree about written works of yesteryear take Ian Fleming and his early James Bond, who would name a character Pussy Glory in these oh so modern times, go on I dare you. ;-)
You’re absolutely right to use quotation marks with the word “equality” because we all know that their meaning of “equality” is to destroy everyone with whom they disagree!
Fantastic work, GB News. You really are doing something different. Better than I could have expected. I love having my mind changed, and they've just been changed about Archer.
This is like the mixed race kid who’s white mum called him a cheeky money and was accused of racism by a stranger or the fact mammy two shoes off of Tom and Jerry was called a Mama despite it not being derogatory but because Tom and Jerry has racist tones, therefore the word mama is now racist Well that’s Frankie Valli, spice girls and Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan songs screwed then
Do what I do. Don’t watch them. Problem solved. And plus you don’t have some strange alt right (new acceptable media friendly term for far right) morons, trying to tap into that indoctrinated racism and go on and on and on about some bizarre phoney culture war stuff.
This guy is the ultimate fake it to you make it guy. Bullshitted his undergraduate degree and A levels to get into Oxford as a mature student, did a diploma course that took a year but spent three years there playing the Oxford undergraduate life, knowing he would need that for future steps up the ladder. Amazing.
Look at your own life before criticising others is your life is prefect ,them be understanding of others weaknesses and be thankful you have never made a mistake.
What a great man Jeffrey Archer is. Thank you GB News for bringing a fascinating man to the discussion. Please take another time with him, love to hear what he has got to say about the corruptions we have in each and every area around the world . And I want to know whether he is writing another great book like Kane and Able for us . Thank you
Jeffrey Archer remains a multi millionaire, his books have amassed him a fortune close to £150 million. You can't deny his success. I have always admired the sheer balls of the man. He felt life was never going to help you, you must help yourself, and he did. He paid the price. Did his punishment. Move on.
Great interview. Yes, I loved Cain & Abel, too and JA is a great storyteller. On the strength of his recommendation, I have just bought Beware of Pity on my kindle for my summer reading.
Not really, a film is an interpretation of the book, keep the original as intended by the author, but the film can change. Films are often bery loosely based on books anyway.
RUclips put one of those questions under the video suggestion asking me if I thought the video suggestion was good or bad. I have only ever had these under videos that don't conform to the w0ke agenda...
This is a great segment, not a huge fan of Jeffery Archer however he is an interesting character. I liked the interaction with the public and the relaxed style of interviewing. I look forward to watching more interviews. Thank you.
Hmm, the statement about climate change by Jeffery Archer was allowed to stand? No challenge for such a categorical and sweeping statement? Almost CNN worthy. Other than that, fantastic interview. I'm really warming to your channel.
This is very interesting, thanks. But *please* remove the totally unnecessary banner at the bottom of the screen. It is a distraction. Be original, in this matter. You don't need to follow the Americans.
Have read many of his books and enjoyed them all, one of my favourite authors. Have to disagree with his views on climate though, without carbon dioxide this planet would have no life.
I have always enjoyed books by Jeffrey Archer, Kane and Abel, the one about Abel’s daughter becoming President of the US and First Among Equals in particular. People should move on from his conviction for perjury and his subsequent jail time now 20 and more years ago. He did his time, he served his punishment and there the matter should end. Let him lead a normal life and carry on writing books which I and so many other people enjoy. He is right about the cricketer Ollie Robinson - he apologized for a very stupid tweet he made years earlier, a tweet he must have long since forgotten. Thankfully that apology was, rightly, accepted and the matter closed. Now he is one of England’s most successful cricketers.
Jefrey Archer's freedom of the prison was based , in time honoured fashion, on lodgings nearby, rented from the governor. If you can afford it, that is what you do. Postal adress? Belmarsh.
Craig Wood. Of course Not you cretin! There’s a huge difference between perjury and child sex abuse. If l had my way perverts like Saville should just be hanged! They cannot be cured so why bother to keep dangerous people in prison as they’re just oxygen thieves! Keep innocent children safe!
Asking Jeffery Archer we are on a slippery slope. The man who after serving time for things like perverting the course of justice returned to the Lords on release from prison, to help decide what Laws there should be over us. Was this meant to be satire?
A man that has lived his own novels drama, thriller , romance and horror. As one of the Beatles side, "the man can bottle your urine and sell it to you".
Well said Sir! I too think advertising gambling is obscene. Many, many younger people are getting hooked and ruining their lives as a result. Government should stop it Now! I am not religious by the way it’s just common sense. Greedy, unethical people running these sites who don’t give a jot about the consequences and the many lives ruined.
Are you talking about Tories sanctioning the poor on benefits which in turn has led to suicides and deaths from starvation? That kind of not giving a jot about consequences?
When I was 4 yrs old I had a Goliwog doll. I prostrate myself before the world and beg them to forgive me for my racist past. As for Jeff he's still a creepy guy and full of himself.
Even with all his faults I enjoyed seeing Archer and listening to what he had to say. Good work GB News.

Meanwhile in the real world GBeebies is spiralling the plug hole.
His prison stories are worth a read. They did this man dirty by sending him to Belmarsh.
Is that not where they send Assange as well....?
They put Jonathan Aitken in the Bellmarsh. My solicitor was Aitken’s solicitor and told me that as a politician in the nick, he had a hard time,
Perhaps he should not have committed perjury then. Actions have consequences. Law and order!
I started reading the first book of the prison series but I am yet to finish it. Thank you for reminding me
@@MC_MMV No problem. Enjoy.
If you go woke Jeffrey you will go broke. I am a big fan of your books don’t change your format.
It would be nice to get less homosexual presenters on. Go back to masculine times.
Wow 81. Respect. I thought 65 say. Biden eat your heart out.
Archer is more alert/coherent/organized/consistent than BoJo - never mind that Parkinsons sufferer Biden.
Too bad an author, popular with millions as well as published in many languages and cultures, is shut up and shamed by a handful of flaying bigots.
