NO - publishers should not change books written in the past as they reflect the times they were written in. Neither should actual history or the real life characters of those times be changed to suit todays values and narrative.

I have always enjoyed books by Jeffrey Archer, Kane and Abel, the one about Abel’s daughter becoming President of the US and First Among Equals in particular. People should move on from his conviction for perjury and his subsequent jail time now 20 and more years ago. He did his time, he served his punishment and there the matter should end. Let him lead a normal life and carry on writing books which I and so many other people enjoy.
He is right about the cricketer Ollie Robinson - he apologized for a very stupid tweet he made years earlier, a tweet he must have long since forgotten. Thankfully that apology was, rightly, accepted and the matter closed. Now he is one of England’s most successful cricketers.

Are you talking about Tories sanctioning the poor on benefits which in turn has led to suicides and deaths from starvation? That kind of not giving a jot about consequences?
