The weather outside may be frightful, but the music, food, company, spirits and your nails are all delightful - and your truck cranking right up. Thanks for making and sharing these, Cecilia. They're a great escape.
I could just ask questions all day long. I find this so fascinating. 1. Are the cars equipped with anything that helps them perform in those below freezing temperatures? You car always starts right up. Is it plugged in to keep everything from freezing? 2. Are the cabins made in particular way to keep them from being destroyed by those winds? 3. Do people get seasonal depression when it is constantly dark there? I cannot imagine what it was like to survive a winter there 100-150 years ago!
There are block heaters for vehicles to heat up the engine before starting. But i've cold started my old car after leaving it in the buried in snow and below freezing temps for weeks on end and it cranked right up. Goes either way, depending on your car i guess.
I have been trying to cure a friend's heartache forever, and I would still do it today. Snowstorms like this always melt my heart, because it keeps me inside the house. Thank you so much, and may God bless you.
You have the hyggeligste channel here! Love watching while I'm having breakfast or editing pictures or copy writing or whatever. It's like burning a candle and petting a dog. :)
I love this. I’m SHOCKED that you drive in that kind of weather. Here in Texas If we get an inch of snow everything shuts down. Schools close and everyone panics and buys all the bread and milk. And here y’all are like it’s just another day.🤣🤣Love it. I hope one day I get to live in a crazy cold climate.
I live in Colorado and I have driven in high winds, whiteout and scary roads but where Cecilia lives? Wow! I would be afraid driving to the gym. She is fearless!
I am shocked too! I am in Arizona and here people freak out about driving after a few minutes of rain! The few times that it has snowed, the city and everyone in it just stops in its tracks.
Norwegian here (though not from Svalbard) I LOLed out loud when I experienced snow days in Missouri. just the tiniest sprinkle of snow and everything shut down. The problem is your lack of winter tires. You don’t even need snow plows with the tiny amount of snow you guys get, just solid tires.
@@ladythalia227 true! It's very different with a 4wheel drive and spiked tires. It always makes me laugh when I see news reports of "blizzards" that leave 5 cm of snow, as a result the state calls a general emergency, and everything shuts down.
In the Yooper (Top part of Michigan) we can see weather like this on occation. It comes in off the Lakes (Michigan and Superior) and it wild blowing down from Canada. You probably by far get more snow than we do, but I've seen some of those days. :) I think in 2019 we had 362 inches/919cm. The last two years were warmer and less snow. Beautiful landscape I've been watching your videos today
to be honest parts of the UP (e.g. houghton) are some of the snowiest places on the planet, like directly comparable to the snowiest parts of japan. that said, svalbard is probably also one of the few places that can compete.
Happy 2021 Cecilia! Your cabin is so nicely decorated and provides that charming and cozy Christmas ambience, made me thought Christmas was around the corner 😂 I hope 2021 treats you and your friends wonderfully and that your RUclips channel grows amazingly fast because there's nobody else that covers Svalbard as well as you do! Whenever I wanna escape from reality or get my Svalbard fix, I'd always look for your channel. Thanks for showing us viewers a side of planet earth that most aren't aware of, a lifestyle that's unlike any other, gonna binge on your other vlogs now, bye!
In the space of ten minutes you captured the beauty as well as the challenge (danger) of this hostile environment. The contrast between your warm and lovely decorated home and nutritious breakfast underscores the fact that in so many ways 'life- is what you make of it'. Your life in the Artic seems enchanting and brings an appeal with it. I once travelled to Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories , Canada - in the middle of the winter- and this video reminded me of the conditions there- fierce winds, deep darkness. I'm so enjoying your vlog. Thank you for welcoming me into your life in Svalbard!.
I have been binge watching your videos since I found you a few days ago! Here in California life is pretty crazy right now and watching your videos just takes my mind off of it all! Plus I could watch the snow and Grim all day, it just calms my brain!
Thank you Cecilia for making me feel so warm and cozy. You make me feel as if I am sitting on your couch listening to you talking to me, telling me your day plans. In these days of lockdown your presence albeit virtual is the best comfort. Thank you. 🙏🏻 PS. Going to the supermarket to get cottage cheese with all the other ingredients to make myself your delicious dish. 😍 Hello to Christopher. A bunch of cuddles to Grim 😊
Oh I am so happy to see this! Your videography is beautiful. So cozy as always in your home, but all that snow on your windows!! Take care Seyseylia, Cristopher and Grim!❤️

Love that RUclips recommended your channel after I’ve been following your TikTok for a while. The more relaxed editing style really works, too, and more Grim is always a bonus!
Hi Cecilia! I love your videos! It’s fascinating to me how you take it all in stride. Even though we get very strong winds and occasional heavy snow in the panhandle of Texas, it can’t compare. Grim is precious!
I lived in Lake Tahoe Nevada/California for over twenty years working there. I am now retired in a warm and cool winter place and crave the snow crunching under foot and the sting of blizzard windy snow and the sound of snow plows clanging chains and grind. Enjoy this moment in your live and adventure. The only thing that brings me to the cold snow are my night dreams and memories.
sooo beautiful, i love the snow and cold weather. We live in Pennsylvania, USA and we don't see enough snow here in my opinion. thank you for the look into this beautiful place you call home. I am so happy to get a look into a place i will never be able to travel to. its amazing.
I love seeing a happy smiling dog. My favorite is so similar, I put raspberries in a bowl top with yogurt lightly sweetened with honey and by vanilla and top to hat with granola! So good.

Hi Cecilia! I live in italy and it snowed this night... I was a bit upset but after watching your video now I'm happy 😀 seriously how can you live in that environment? I'm not criticising I feel real admiration.... everything looks difficult in winter, every simple thing could be a challenge.... aren't you tired? You, all the people up there I mean, really love your country probably more than people like me who lives in an easier environment. Thanks Cecilia

Also are the cabins you visit out of town privately owned or do you rent them? How do you get electricity to your cabin? The more detail you go into about how things function on Svalbard the more interesting it is I think! If you have time can you interview village government, teachers, other people working on Svalbard? what does Christoffer do? I don't want much! Haha!
Fantastic videos, looking forward to live real Svalbard when pandmia will be over! Watching your videos is like a school for me, living in italian coast
Hej!
We definitely have winter like that here, though we do get a few hours of sun even during the shortest days. In a strange way it's kinda wonderful, if you 1) can stay inside, or 2) are dressed warmly. Being dressed for the weather makes ALL the difference.
oh this reminds me so much of living in the Canadian arctic for years. Brrrrrrr. Grim is very cute and a smart dog, even he didn't want out in that weather.
Uhh, it takes me back to my childhood in Greenland, very similar weather :-) love your channel, I see your uploads everytime!, again, reminds me of Geenland, we allso had a cuddeldog, a greenlandic sleddog named Bamse :-) Tak for dine uploads, jeg nyder dem!! :-)
I remember storms like this from my days in Minneapolis. Some words that come to mind: "scouring" winds, "bone-crunching" cold, coldness pressing through the walls (at -35°f). I could go on. Anyways, thank you for sharing the beauty of your surroundings. And especially showing how FUN it can be!!
YAY. Hi again. Writing you from Sacramento. California. I have been to many amazing countries, but the top 2 countries on my bucket list that i have not been to are Norway and the Maldives. I know, quite a contrast. As for Svalbard, you totally to convince me to add it to my Norway trip.
Wow!! How do you heat your cabin..? Is it built with specific insulation?? If you put the soft fruit strawberries in a syrup they will not go off. Same problem here in Winter. The fridge is not kind to them. We just do quick jams.
A great video as always! When the world returns to normal we are hoping to visit Svalbard on a cruise - perhaps in June 2022. Your videos are a great source of information and inspiration.....and Grim is such a lovely boy! Thanks.
You handled your phone really well getting video in that storm. I wouldn't try for fear of losing my phone in the wind. Your beautiful cabin looked so cozy and comfy.
Grim's face when he made an immediate about face to come back inside LOL, poor baby. And you're wearing your coat! I checked out the website; it's very interesting and I have no doubt the quality is top notch. I love Scandinavia so the influence in your vids and life is so much fun like your friend asking if he should use English to describe the weather and winds as he's Norwegian. Love it! I think I subbed about 2 weeks ago now when YT recommended your channel and I love it and already feel some kind of cozy, part of the community feeling. Now to finish watching this video. I started getting cold shivers as I watched! :)
I love this so much. I mentioned in one of your other videos that I am from Tennessee. I live in the Appalachian part where we get snow. I remember the 1993 Storm on the Century quite well. The snow conditions you filmed were similar, but we were not freezing already! I remember a snow-drift that was across the highway and I went and jumped in it! I was 10 years old and it swallowed me (the drift was probably 4-5 feet deep and I cannonballed it). My sister had to help me out! I remember pictures from my grandparents house where the drift was so bad that it covered their patio. I am talking a 7 foot patio. I love this video so much. We had a lot of trouble in a community the size of yours, but we kept together and understood that community is important. Sometimes I wish another blizzard would hit here so that we could become a better community.
Another great video, the snow storm looked insane. Was so cozy looking at it from inside your home though. Here in the UK a couple of inches of it could cause chaos! Grim is super cute, is the other doggo camera shy? Much love and good wishes to you all. XXXX
Just found your channel (and not from Tik Tok lol) What a magical place you live! Naturally I am binge watching all your videos. I hope to visit this amazing place sometime. Very different from here in Melbourne, Australia.
Your dog is like a Newfoundland in the summer. They find the coolest place in house, a.c. on, if you don't move you don't pee. The longest my friends said there dog went was over 24 hours.
Just giggled out loud when Grim was in his blinky collar and took two steps outside and immediately turned around 😂
hahah he was like YES totally lets go out! Come on! And then 1 second outside "okey no, nope, no thank you" 😂😂😂
Grimm explained us how the weather is 😊
😁😁😁

Thank you so much! 🤩
Brrrrrrr. Grim is very cute and a smart dog, even he didn't want out in that weather.
haha!
SO cool! Norway is incredibly beautiful! I haven't been to the Maldives yet but I hope to visit in the future :) You should def visit Svalbard! :)
Aby the way, Grim is absolutely adorable. What a cute face. I am a huge animal lover.
XXXX
Thank you for watching! His brother lives 2 cabins away with his family :) He is just over here and plays a lot haha!
@@CeciliaBlomdahl awwww he has a playmate! Cool! Irs the best thing seeing him get tummy rubs 😍😍😍😍😍
The fridge door reminder got me, I looked up to see if mine is ajar . 😂
Greetings from Greece! ^_^ I love your videos. Happy New Year!
Same to you! Thank youuu!
Wow, that weather is so crazy and it's also so awesome so see that. Thanks for sharing! :-)
Thank you so much for watching! :)
