    Hi! Just trying to understand how it works. Are the ‘reedles’(the microneedles that feel prickly) made up of the ingredients in the serum? Like the ingredients are made into the shape of a needle? And the needles are later absorbed into the skin.
    Or is there an external ingredient in a needle shape that makes a path for the other ingredients? And that needle is later on is expelled from the skin?

    •  11 месяцев назад +1

      The “hydrolyzed sponge” on the inci are the reedles (spicule) themselves. They then basically do the second thing you said, although they can also be coated or soaked in ingredients as well (like in the reedle shot products)

    • @nimmie2786
      @nimmie2786 11 месяцев назад

      @ ohh, I see! Thank you for clearing that up!! Does the hydrolysed sponge get automatically expelled from the skin? Or does it like break down and get absorbed too?

    uhm.. extremely gimmicky isn't it? ;) But even if it worked, micro damaging my skin with "needles" to have a cica complex help restore the damage (I just made) is sort of contradictory right? I dunno I guess my point is: this is not what cosmetics are supposed to do, (if it works as it is supposed to) this is pharmaceutical or medical territory.

    •  Год назад +11

      Think of it a penetration enhancing. It creates very very very small channels in the skin. The cica isn’t repairing the skin necessarily. It’s just a means of delivering actives. There’s been some interesting promising evidence on these for delivering actives just a little more effectively into the epidermis (still cosmetic) by helping ingredients suppress the barrier easier. And the studies shows very good sensitivity profiles. I personally find them interesting, and a handful of brands and companies have decided to explore the technology more. I do have studies in the description box.

    Comparing reedle shot to 'other exfoliants' or microneedling is NOT an accurate comparison. Those other methods do NOT stay on or in the skin. These 'reedles' are being massaged into the skin. There is NO control over depth, penetration or even trajectory. They are being left IN and ON the skin. This is dangerous, stupid and unsafe. Products put on the skin are also absorbed by the skin and into the body...so what happens when these 'sponge spicules' are absorbed into the body? This trend is just disturbing. There's no reason for it. There are better and safer alternatives. Sooner or later there's going to be some medical horror story of the consequences of these 'spicules' being left in and on the skin and absorbed into the body. It's just stupid...right up there with the tide pods.

    •  11 месяцев назад +5

      They penetrate just slightly into the epidermis and don’t actually go into the body. They shed naturally with skin desquamation. Did you look at any of the attached studies?

    • @sebrinadickerson3341
      @sebrinadickerson3341 11 месяцев назад

      @ I reject this dismissal explanation. They are microneedles. If you are rubbing them into the face, there is no control over depth, penetration or trajectory. This action does not have the effect of 'shedding' but of penetration, as described. This is the action that is 'allowing other products to penetrate, ' both during and after mechanically massaging them into the skin. They are NOT all 'shed natually with skin desquamation.' Is that word supposed to impress me? This explanation is even more disturbing. So, if someone uses this before bed, and some of these microneedles are 'shedding' on to bedding that they are sharing with a baby or pet...that's also concerning. What about shared towels These microneedles are Actively penetrating and remaining in the skin. Anything put on or massaged into the skin is also absorbed into the body, especially if they are 'microscopic.' This is how many topical medications/ hormones are also delivered 'transdermally' into the body for a systemic effect. I look forward to the day this ridiculous, unnecessary and harmful fad is over. There are better and safer alternatives.

    •  11 месяцев назад +14

      @sebrinadickerson3341 cosmetics don’t absorb into the skin. That’s actually a big benefit of penetration enhancers. I’m not forcing you to use this. You can choose to do as you please, especially if that comes to refusing to consider some of the studies around the ingredient and how it works. What I’m trying to explain is that, again, the spicules are very very tiny. Even with the penetration into the topmost layer of the epidermis, they’re not getting very deep at all, and they naturally shed with the skin. That’s all that desquamation means. As you said, MEDICATIONS penetrate deeper than the epidermis because they’re DRUGS. COSMETICS don’t have that same effect because they can’t.

      @You Sir, are an extremely patient and kind man. This person is rude, condescending, and disrespectful. It’s just sad that we live in a world where people can’t express themselves properly, or are so intolerant of things they disagree with or simply don’t understand. Im so sorry that you had to deal with that, but I also commend you for having so much patience 🫶🏽

    Ive used the 300 a total of 3 times over the past 2 months, but every single time Im left with irritation. Used it last night and woke up to some plumpness but lots of redness (skin barrier is definitely compromised), it seemed I have more noticeable pores after using it? (I guess this is the channels created). Can't really say if the irritation is worth it as I was trying to improve skin appearance and some small hyperpigmentation spots😵‍💫, but the irritation may very well end in more hyperpigmentation 🥲🥲
    So for anybody wanting to try it put I would suggest going below 300 if your skin is sensitive. Btw 300 does feel slightly gritty when rubbing
