I stopped buying black shoes and clothes years ago - they look too harsh with my pale skin. Dark brown, dark grey, dark burgundy work best and surprisingly easy to combine with other colours.
Black is considered a "neutral colour". It's not neutral at all. Black is too much harsh and difficult to combine.

Me too, no black in my closet, never liked the color, it brings me down, also I have a romantic feminine style so I use more light colors and brown accessories.
I like skin tone, sand, soft pink, dusty blue and sometimes metallics. There are a lot of different cute options depending on what look you're going for.
Chi…I love your nude shoe advice. most of my shoes are black…Now I see the difference… I will buy mostly nude shoes, its neutral and will go well with my clothes.
The only thing…I don’t buy square shoe because they go in and out of fashion. I find they widen the look of the foot.

Thank you. I have my first ever pair of nude shoes due to this channel, and also some silver ones which were second hand but unworn. Both flats as I have health problems affecting my balance.
But black shoes and boots, with black or dark blue jeans, are still my favourite for the very wet weather and mud which are a feature of my life.

This video was a real game changer. I always had tons of black shoes but they never felt good with my outfits but I couldn't figure out why. Since I wear white sneakers or nude boots, I'll never go back to black shoes. (I am petite, o-shape, long torso and very short legs). Since then, time by time I exchanged my shoes and now the only pair of black shoes left are knee boots. Now I think, black shoes are the least practical shoes against what the common optinion was decades.
Maybe for your personal needs but for others like me, black is essential, especially since I use a lot of dark and black colors.
I love your videos. I’m a Size 18 and wear a Size 11 shoe. I wear scrubs to work so I live in tennis shoes and hate wearing them after working hours. I get a lot of great info from your videos, especially with what shoes to wear. I’m convinced I need a new shoe wardrobe because I don’t have enough shoes for my clothing styles.

I am going to sound old (I'm not!), but women my age grew up with a simple set of rules that solved many of the problems cited in the video. You know the "no white after labor day" rule that we brought down with great celebration? After labor day, at mid-latitudes and above, days get cooler. We start wearing socks, stocking, and coats. The pants and skirts switch to heavier fabrics. Sandals no longer work. We take out the winter shoes. They are black, to go with dark socks and stockings, and an overall darker wardrobe (not devoid of color, but as accent). With such a system, white pumps will never end up worn with black pants, and black pumps will never end up paired with light summer pants (as there was another associated unwritten rule for spring, where black shoes used to get put away for the summer).
I think black shoes always looks best if your outfit is black/white/grey. Looks much less awkward
I love white shoes and also like nude and pale tan (caramel), metallic gold and taupe a lot. Aside from a few other basic colors from my wardrobe, like navy and khaki green, I stick with these colors for footwear. I have enough black shoes and boots already, considering how seldom I wear that color in clothing.

Hi Chi, I used to only wear black shoes. Now I wear lots of different colors and styles. I noticed a lot of square toe shoes in this video which is interesting as you once suggested to avoid as they cut you off. Advice I have taken. See you next time from Queensland Australia

I have to disagree about the palazzo pants with mules. I think they go well with some flat mules black included as long as they are not too chunky and can look dressier and would also look & feel better in winter. I think sandals probably only look good with palazzo pants in the warmer seasons.
Wide leg pants look good with closed toe heels - pumps or boots, partly as the material is usually heavier as you say.
Chi, I'm hoping you can suggest some nude colored, in-style shoes for those of us with foot issues (flat feet, pronating ankles, bunion, etc.). They typically are best with a 1.5" max wider heel with steep arch support. I'm 5' 3.5" with a longer neck, not much of a tummy but more sensitive about my hips.

I have chubby legs and black shoes make my feet look smaller and my thighs look bigger, it's just so unflattering. Since then, I never wore black shoes anymore, it's either white or nude colour
I agree. I always advise to wear shoes that are closer to the color of the clothing, or neutral .

It would be great if you incorporated XS sizes to your clothing line. I went to the website petite dressing, unfortunately I couldn’t buy anything no XS size. I’m 5’2 105 lbs.
I happen to look great in black, and I think it’s classy and timeless, but this is an interesting theory! In Europe, everyone wears black, especially in Zürich where I am, perhaps it is a European thing 😊
As an Asian, I also happen to look great in black. I don't have many clothes and shoes so the monochrome choices helps a lot.
I love black and that is actually a very popular color all around the globe for clothes.

I rarely wear black, or any dark-colored shoes. I don’t agree with those people who say that “black goes with everything”, in my opinion, it doesn’t look good with most things. Then, there’s the visually shortening effect of black shoes, they rarely work for us petites. I’m always surprised when people present their capsule wardrobes with only black shoes and accessories to “keep it basic/simple”, that’s the last color I would choose. I don’t have a lot of black clothing, it doesn’t look good on me, or most people. It doesn’t merit its dominance in the market.
You are right! For fall and winter I really like navy as a basic instead of black for clothing

Also , as a country gal , I enjoy wearing jeans ( classic style , straight leg , darker wash ) & navy dress pants / khakis which coordinate well w/ both casual & dressier pieces . Add white /cream / camel & a bit of accent color & navy is very versatile ! 💟 ( p.s. - yes , I have some navy shoes too , my casual favorite being driving mocs )

Wear blue shoes and that will solve the problem. It matches with other colors. Don’t buy anymore black shoes because it is hard to match with.
If you know how they are easy. Blue shoes are also good along black shoes.
I’ll be the mother of the bride come autumn + thought that open top shoes didn’t seem appropriate especially in colder weather. My dress is a navy, sweetheart neckline, high waisted, soft-belted, simple design, 3/4 sleeved maxi. Couldn’t a sophisticated pair of black & gold luxury court shoes (you call them pumps in US) go with the maxi? I cannot waste the shoes as I have a truly beautiful matching handbag that goes with it. I'm an inverted triangle.i have broad shoulders .So if the black shoes make bottom heavier ..does it help to balance out my body shape???I'm tall by the way..

JMHO having a 2 inchs on the bottom of pants looks just as awkward looking. I would rather cut off part if it to hem them.
Most gowns and dresses always look better with open toe shoes or sandals.
