@Mary Beth- the image of Lindsey greeting you all is so heart warming! Glad you captured that, for all of us wanting to go on the trip and couldn't this was such a cool recap!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the compliment. Arriving at the Domaine and meeting our art hero Lindsay in person and in that adorable dress was so fun. I had to try and capture the moment. Truly a magical week!
Lyndsay, this is definitely my favorite ever video that you have ever made. I just loved seeing everyone’s work.
Wow, thank you!
So pretty, love the wine idea. That must have been a wonderful time. Would it be possible for you to show us how to create a sketchbook in a tutorial.
I used this video to learnamzn.to/4c8zay8
@@thefrugalcrafter takes me to a place to buy paints . Haha
Oh my goodness. I wish I could sit with each of you and tell you what I love about all of your paintings and sketches. They're all so different and all so lovely! Wonderful!!
Everyone did such a wonderful job on their sketchbooks and paintings...so beautiful. Everyone should be very proud of their accomplishments. Thanks for sharing everyone! 🥰
I totally agree!
This video was so fun to watch. It did hurt my heart to hear how self critical some of these ladies were. I found all the artists to be phenomenally talented. Thank you ladies for sharing.
I wish my artwork was half as good as all the ladies here.
Well said!
It was so nice of everyone to share all their amazing artwork!
This was wonderful to see everyone and their creations! So fun! The sketchbooks are a piece of art themselves- I must make one!!!
Have fun!
Once you start stitching the book, it is easy. Just go slow and maybe binder clip your book to help hold it to keep it even if possible.
@@christinetrappenfortes7761 thank you for the tips- I’ll definitely get a couple of big binders - good idea!
Absolutely loved seeing all the participant's artwork! What an amazing time they all shared by being there. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for showing us this beautiful and fun retraite in France. The artwork is so inspiring. Each lady has their own style.I love France.I am living in Europe,in the Netherlandsand visited Frence a few times. The paintings reminds of van Gogh who lived and painted a lot plein air in France. The hills the fields and villages are so beautiful.Wish I could have joined.
So many beautiful pieces of art! Thank you so much, ladies, for sharing it with the world!
Our pleasure!
This was a great share and especially brave of everyone to share their work. I especially loved Nicole's addition of the green tea background on the wine sketch as well as the addition of dirt on her large painting. How unique and creative!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Thank you! to all of you for sharing your artwork. Every one of you brought a style to the table! So much inspiration has been shared. I have been neglecting my painting and drawing! So thank you for the inspiration! ❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
I just loved all of the beautiful art work. It looks like everyone had a great, memorable week. Thank you for sharing everything with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Ladies. You all did an amazing job. Just lovely and breathtaking. Keep painting. Wow just wow
❤️
So great to see everyone again! I’m still working on filling my sketchbook with paintings - so glad for all the photos everyone took, as I am a slow painter!🤣 I’m also adding the group photos & some memorabilia! A great way to remember our trip! 🙂
Sounds great!
I super enjoyed seeing everyone’s art work. You can tell you all had a great time and had lots of fun. Hope you do it again Lindsay. I am a Gardner… the little flower ( pink and yellow) Elaine painted is a Peruvian Lily better known as Alstroemeria. They come in many colors and are a favorite of florists. They also last forever in a vase. The purple sphere made up of small star like flowers is a allium. It’s a bulb that blooms generally in May. Just in case you were wondering.
Thanks 😊
I really loved this video. Seeing all these artists share their work and describe their experiences is so heartening. Thanks so much for sharing, ladies. It was fabulous! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved every piece of artwork by all these lovely ladies. It always fascinates me that many times you were painting the same thing, but each painting was similar, but different because of the unique styles. So many times the artist was criticizing their work and I was thinking how beautiful and I wish I could paint like that!! I am so glad these ladies got to enjoy learning techniques, painting fun, and each other's new friendships. Thank you for sharing your beautiful artwork with us!!!
This is so inspiring! Thank you, ladies, for sharing all your beautiful artwork.
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for sharing all the beautiful art you all did in France. I am so envious that you were there painting plein air, enjoying wonderful food and wine, the list goes on. I hope Lindsay will do some paintings from France on you tube with us that didn't get to go on the retreat... like that beautuful landscape of the rolling hills. Every one did a great job with their versions of the art they did.
You know I will!
It was great to see what everyone had painted.
Absolutely!!
Lindsay is such a good and encouraging teacher. We can see the ladies enjoyed the trip and got inspired to paint more. Very interesting to see their different styles too. Thank you so much for sharing.
Our pleasure!
Everyone did something so different and beautiful. Thank you for sharing! Great video, Lindsay I wish I could like it again.
Thank you so much!
Aw! Looks like everyone had an amazing trip with some lovely sketchbooks and artwork to show for it! Thanks for giving us a peek!! ❤
Our pleasure!
I really enjoyed seeing everyone's individual styles! What an adventure you all had!
Glad you enjoyed it!
WOW what a great video capturing everyones artwork! Everyone has their own style and each one is unique and wonderful! Everyone was so wonderful and I miss each and everyone of them everyday. It is definitely a vacation/retreat to remember for forever. to all the lovely ladies and a special to Lindsay
I miss you too!
LOVELY WORK BY ALL!! Thank you, ladies and Lindsay!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing the amazing artwork from everyone & showing their unique style. Super idea to start off the week making a sketchbook! It was very interesting to see the paintings done with wine. I hope Lindsay will do a tutorial doing a watercolor painting of the seashell. I live in FL where there are lots of shells. The flowers in the cut glass were a lovely contrast of soft & hard. Great to end the week with a a full size landscape painting! I would be happy to go on an art retreat to Maine, a state I have always wanted to visit.
Good idea!
I also enjoyed this video sooo much. It was surprising to see many who as i am about not having confidence but their work was outstanding. This video is a great ad for another trip to paint with you. Thanks girls for sharing. It made me feel i was right there with you enjoying France.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How beautiful to be able to share your knowledge and love for art with others, and lovelier still to see what the class was inspired to create 😊
Thank you so much!
Hullo Lindsay & Friends! You all looked to have had a wonderful time in France and painting so many lovely things! Thank you for sharing your experiences with those of us who were not able to go! I just wanted to say that after watching all of the video, I was a bit disappointed in the attitude of so many that simply did not like their own work! I saw some very lovely paintings. I believe that we must learn to accept our limitations and create with joy! Even Van Goth was told that he would never be a success and that his art was not worth hanging in a barn! Go easier on ourselves and find that joy in creating your art! You do make lovely paintings and stop comparing your work to anyone else, not even your earlier self!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the advice!
This was a marvelous video, thank you. While I could find something to say to each of you lovely ladies, I'm going to narrow it down to Nicole. If you're reading this Nicole, I want to say that I like the way you think. Your idea to paint with wine was perfect, AND green tea!! Two years ago, I did a whole week of "condiment painting". Anything that came from the doors in the refrigerator. I'm not sure how artistic it was, but it sure smelled good. All of you ladies had wonderful works and seemed so happy. Great group.
Lastly, Lindsay, can you think about doing a video on making the sketchbooks? If you talked about it already, I apologize.
I used this coptic stitch tutorial: ruclips.net/video/IAx3eqHkoPI/видео.htmlsi=hzwMcdfoZiPf-J2v
This was wonderful; everyone seemed to have such a great time! I love that one of the ladies painted you, Lindsay! So sweet!
It was!
How heartwarming this video is! I could feel the excitement in everyone’s explanations about their paintings, and the fun they had during the week! Thanks for sharing your trip with us.🤗
I loved seeing everyone's artwork and style! Even when you all painted the same things, everyone's picture was unique and beautiful.
I agree!
What a great group of artists. Everyone should feel proud of their work. Thanks to everyone for sharing. Looked like a fun and inspiring week. Thanks Lindsay for this lovely video.
Our pleasure!
All of them did fantastic and none of them seemed overworked even though they felt so. I agree with Lindsay that we tend to be our own worst critics.
Everyone did so great. I really enjoyed the cloud studies 😊
I'm so glad!
Such a fun show and tell! Everyone did amazing work! Love how their individual styles come through, too! Seems like it was a wonderful time! Now art retreat is on MY bucket list! ❤
Yay!
❤Wow ! Everyone looked like they had so much fun ! I definitely have PRFOMO ! (post retreat FOMO 😜)It seems like it was out of this world !!! 🎉 Congratulations on everybody’s paintings, so much talent 😊 and you Lindsay for organizing it !
Next time!
@@thefrugalcrafter Yaasss! I’m saving my pennies as we speak !..❤️ I would LOVE to go !
This was special to hear from everyone and see the artwork they created. They all did such pretty paintings. The seemed so excited about the trip!
Thanks 😊
I could tell it was a fun time. Love all the art.
We had a ball!
How awesome! Beautiful art by everyone. It looks like so much fun.
Looks as if you all had a bunch of fun! Lindsay is such an amazing artist. It would be very intimidating to match art with any of you ladies who were lucky enough to attend.
You would have fit right in!
Wow! They all did such a good job! Loved seeing how they all painted the same things so differently, yet they all looked great!
They sure did!
❤❤❤ I love this so much! Makes me so happy seeing everyone again.
I agree!
Beautiful paintings and great idea to paint with wine. I guess we could paint with a lot of different fruit & veg colors like beets…long used for their deep red color and many fruits like cherries & other red/purple or pink colors. Thanks for sharing!
That's a great idea!
This sounds like a lovely trip! I did some plain air painting at my local park with the river.. I completely understand all the ladies struggles with using different greens and have it not look messy. I struggled with that for sure since the water was green and all the trees and everything are in full greenery right now. My painting def looks like a green blob.
It's a challenge!
Wow! This was awesome. Beautiful artwork & everyone seems so joyful❤
They are! Thank you!
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video. Best wishes and Happy the week. ❤
Thank you! You too!
Everyone did fantastic art, thanks for sharing!
Absolutely!
Amazing video! Love seeing all the beautiful art work. Thanks everyone for sharing ❤ much love ❤️
Our pleasure!
I love love love that video! We all are so rude with our work and I recognized me in every artists who share their pieces!
But all the ladies made at least a fantastic piece during this retreat without see it!
(I hope my english is as good for you to understand what I mean 😅)
Thanks for sharing! Would love to see a tutorial on how to make a sketch book, and how to achieve the depth in the window.
Great suggestion!
This was fantastic to see what you all have done! A great group of people to spend time with. Soooo cool seeing all the art work.❤ Wish I was there ❤️
How wonderful! Everyone made such beautiful paintings!

Everyone's artwork was beautiful! Thanks ladies for sharing!
That is all so wonderful. I’m so very glad you all had such a wonderful time.
amazing work
Thank you!
Beautiful artworks, my favourite is at 42:25 💗
Yes, that one is amazing. I told her it was when she finished it too.
All the ladies are very talented. I get that some didn't want to be on camera but it would have been nice to more of them.
I wasn't about to push anyone to be filmed that didn't want to.
@@thefrugalcrafter I realise that :-) though I did notice that those same lovely people were happy to be photographed.
Such great work! Glad everyone had a wonderful time!!
Yes! Thank you!
This is wonderful!
Thanks 😊
This morning I went looking for the new Sat Chat video at a time when it's usually been posted. It wasn't there. Several hours later it still wasn't there and I was beginning to get concerned and then.....yeah, it's not Saturday, not even in Texas. 😂♥
😆 🤣 😂 some weeks feel long, don't they!
When you mentioned painting with wine I thought you meant drinking wine while painting not painting with the wine 🙂
Lindsay. Please say you will do another one next year I will start saving now!!!!😊
Ok!
Yes… please 🙏
All were so good and so different. I loved seeing the different styles everyone had. I may be just a little envious…jk Everyone seemed to have a great time. I sure hope you do this again and I’ll try my best to go. Just curious, did you scratch with pencil first then paint or go straight to paint? Also, one of the ladies mentioned a sepia pen with her scratch…which was lovely…which pen did she use? Love the videos.
Do you mean on the shell? If so, I sketched directly with sepia ink and then added water and paint.
@@thefrugalcrafter basically all of them but especially when using the sepia ink. What brand and size did yall use? I’m also interested in the paper you used for sketch book…I just noticed I typed scratch instead of sketch above…autocorrect…UGH 🥴
Hi Lindsay, so wish I could've been there! Inspired to use my sketchbook & just play instead of always doing finished paintings. Have a Stillman & Burns book, but finding the spiral binding gets in my way. Can you post instructions to make the sketchbook you made? Thanks, Lesley Paul 😊
ruclips.net/video/IAx3eqHkoPI/видео.htmlsi=hzwMcdfoZiPf-J2v that the video that taught me.
Thank you for sharing!
I’m curious, you mentioned the wine paintings being an issue for the rest of the sketchbook because of the acid. Would sealing the wine page (maybe both sides of the page?) mitigate or prevent that kind of issue? I’ve heard some plein air painters talk about realizing that the water they used on location had been heavily treated and seeing their paintings fade so it would be good to have ideas about how to prevent that from affecting surrounding work if they had done that in a sketchbook.
I'm sure it would help but it wouldn't be 100% protection.
Wonderful art ladies. What kind of paper do you use in these books you made? Also do you have a RUclips tutorial on making a sketchbook with the Coptic binding? I did a search but couldn't find a video on this particular style of book
Arches, there are lots of tutorial on coptic stitch. I used this one ruclips.net/video/IAx3eqHkoPI/видео.htmlsi=hzwMcdfoZiPf-J2v
@@thefrugalcrafter oh fab - I actually googled and then watched this very tutorial so that's brilliant to know! I love the look of those books so I'm definitely going to make one. Thanks so much
Lindsay, do you ever do live retreats here in the US…? 😁
I am planning one in upstate newyork for this fall. Stay tuned!
