test in light games like League of Legends, Paladins, Valorant Or even not-so-heavy games like, The witcher 2, Tomb Raider, GTA V, Dark Souls 2 etc. Xbox 360 era!
I wouldn't recommend the setup if you are pairing your old CPU with a new GPU. This was mostly experimental for fun. For actual upgrades, I think it really depends on your own personal tolerance for quality settings vs fps in game (I've survived on low settings with low fps on older GPUs in the past)
Yeah it seems like it’s going to take months. I’m so glad I managed to snag this 3080 last year. MSRP GPUs might be available in more quantities soon though, but probably still need lightning reflexes to grab them
The GPU is bored and the CPU is running a Marathon.
Lol yes. The 3080 has since returned to it's original habitat 😆
Realistic scenario....when you won an rtx 3090 as giveaway
Lol yeah. GPUs are insanely expensive these days. Thankfully I managed to buy my 3080 end-2020 before the crazier spikes

Travelling for work at the moment. When I get back, will have another go at this relic PC with some of those titles!
Planning using same GPU with newer Celeron j4105 motherboard. Is just hard to get the motherboard though😓.
Hahah I think the bottleneck might be too much. I don't this is a recommended setup, it was more just for fun 😅
Just get a normal motherboard with a Ryzen 5 or something
Not a very good test. Did you turn on gpu scheduling and retest it and see if it helps?
Not really. But this was really more for fun, the 3080 is happily back in my main machine
i have a i7 5820K 3.3ghz
its ok?

When do you think GPU prices would go back to within 5% of MSRP?
8 to 12 months probably, if ever. Crypto is going up again. Maybe ethereum 2.0 will have a positive effect.

Prices are down now, you can buy one.
