    Hi Jessica. I've learned a lot artistically since coming across your videos. But your videos have also been an extra emotional boost during these difficult times. Thank you from Vancouver Canada.

    Great video, as an amateur artist with zero training this really helped in understanding composition which I something I struggle with.

I would love to visit France and I can't think of anyone I would rather go there with than you, Jessica! I will think on it and get back to you! Thank you for giving us all so much to look forward to! 💗

    That is absolutely beautiful Jessica and your tuition was very comprehensive and thorough. I really enjoyed watching the process. Could you please tell me where you purchased the wells for your paints as it’s such an excellent idea.

      Hi, thanks for your kind words! It's a seven day pill sorter from Walmart! I added velcro to the bottom and the surface of the box. (I had to screw the velcro to the plastic). Took a little figuring out, but pretty handy. Not sure I'll always use it, but it's nice once in a while.

    Hi, Jessica - could you give me details of the compartmentalised paint holder you velcro into your palette. It looks real handy for keeping acrylic paint wet. Many thanks - and, don't stop now !!

      Hi Robin, Sure, here is an excerpt from the book I am working on where I wrote up a description on this pill sorter paint saver contraption. It's a good idea, but... i don't know...• I made my own palette paint saver with a seven day large pill sorter you can find at any convenience store. The problem I encountered is that the Velcro doesn’t want to stick. To the pill box I screwed the Velcro in place with blunt ended screws (so a sharp point didn’t destroy my brushes).
      The next thing I did was to secure the bottom half of the Velcro to my palette box surface with epoxy or JB Weld.
      Then I put the pill sorter in my palette I noticed that the lids all stood straight up, covering the lower section of where my painting would be. So, I cut them all off carefully and put them back on their boxes. Once in place, I carefully laid a piece of white duct tape over the lids, keeping them all connected. When I finished a painting session, I secured the “lid” over the whole box with a rubber band and placed the whole thing in the freezer.
      One final step I did, was an aesthetic problem I had to fix. The pill sorter has the days of the week in neon green. That was a jarring color in my field of vision and palette that I covered over with a matte gray acrylic. Problem solved.
      I don’t use my home made paint saver that often because I have found it inconvenient when I am painting quickly to have to reach into a compartment. I prefer to work quickly, sliding the paint from its space, onto the mixing area. So, for me, it was a bit of a frustration. But for travel, it’s likely a very good idea that I will use again.
      Hope it helps! :)

      For acrylic paint, though, you may want to try the Masterson Sta-wet palette. It kept my acrylic paints wet almost indefinitely., It comes with a flat sponge that you wetten, and put the paint on. I purchased some paint retarder and mixed it with each color, and the paint stayed wet for the duration of my session of for weeks following. It was a little weird. But effective.

      @@JessicaHenry Wow, that's quite a tale !And all because the velcro wouldn't stick ! Perhaps some sort of clip would have done the job, the original idea was good one - I'll trawl the net for a suitable pill holder. I've got a sta-wet from Daler-Rowney but I like the idea of having a further method of retaining dampness. I should add that I'm a beginner, at the tender age of 82 - I've been inspired and have absorbed loads of tips from you and others and I appreciate that you put the knowledge you've acquired over the years out to anyone who would like to pick it up. Many thanks for that, Jesica - and don't stop now . . . !

    Is there an easy way to paint mountain landscapes. Sometimes I set lost when I am do a plain air mountain scene.

    • @JessicaHenry
      @JessicaHenry  3 года назад

      Mountains can be both exciting and challenging. One main key to keep in mind is where is the light coming from and also consider the angles of the planes. I have a video here that you may refer to, I'd like to have more mountain videos, but, alas, I live in Ohio! Here is a link to that video: ruclips.net/video/up30vzX_EyI/видео.html
