This is so bittersweet. Our daughters picture is displayed in that field, we lost her 2 years ago to cancer. My daughter also loved sunflowers very much and it was amazing that Maria’s Field of Hope reached out to us and honored our daughter in such a beautiful way. I found your painting because I am just learning how to paint as grief therapy and want to make my sweet girl an amazing sunflower! Thank you so much for this 🌻
I’m so sorry to hear that, Jenn. It just makes my heart hurt to think of children fighting cancer. I’d like to give you a print of this painting. Would you email me? Jessiehenry1375@outlook.com
What a moving story behind this artwork ! You did an amazing job, all the love of the families involved is shining through each and every flower. And the music you chose is so uplifting ! Thanks for the awesome demo. 🌻
So beautiful and perfect for right now. They are in full bloom. Such a beautiful story to go with this painting. I need to use my flat and bright more often. You inspire me to in this. Thank you.

Nice piece! I don’t mean this in any negative way, but I see growth in your work. Makes me want to pick it up again myself. :). Blessings to you and yours.
Thanks TJ, yes, I use a Silk f740 tripod. I bought it years ago and I'm not sure it's still available, but I like how sturdy it is. For carrying my wet paintings, look up Raymar wet panel carriers. I have used the same 8" x 10" box for 5 years, (Super strong box) and just bought their big 11" x 14" with variable sizes inside. I like Raymar boxes because they're light weight, I've tried other brands and I know that cool looking wooden ones would just be too heavy. I like to be able to carry all my equipment.
Beautiful painting and story. When you toned the painting did you use medium or thinner with your paints and if so what are your favorites. Thank you for explaining that process.
Hi Mary Lou, thanks! I used a very little bit of odorless mineral spirits to thin the paint. When I paint I use linseed oil, a very little bit of it. I've tried all sorts of other mediums and oils, I keep coming back to the most simple and pure to the ingredients of the paint. Keeps life simple!
Wow it just came out beautifully!! I hope you keep doing demos like this on here...so what would you say was your statement that you were trying to make with the painting?
Thanks! My statement was to develop a quiet focal point, in the foreground with a gentle leading to the background. The statement of the painting had more to do with the story. While I am cognizant of a composition and design, (which is often a challenge with "field of flower" paintings) but the overcast sky and muted background was intentional in keeping the viewer in the foreground, forcing the story.
Hey Andy, no, I never use a script. Years ago I’d have notes of things I wanted to talk about, but now I have that in my head and just go. There’s nothing wrong with a script if you feel you should have one or an outline of sorts.

So beautiful! Thank you! What tripod do you use? Also do you know of anything you can carry wet stretched canvas in?
