Just ordered this book as it was on sale! Can't wait to dive into this world.
This was consistently fun all the way through!
@@LarrysLibrary Glad to read! Really looking forward to it.
@@cosmiccomiccorner Nice....I bet you will love it
J’ai pas tout compris 🇫🇷 merci pour la vidéo . Cette œuvre est vraiment magnifique ❤
Thanks for watching!
Great review, totally agree with your assesment of the substitute artist
Thanks!
Just a bit more context on the worldbuilding. Remender explained the world of Zhal as existing between the spirit world and the material world, with the addition of magic. The Mosak are essentially wizard-superheroes who are born with some kind of mystical spiritual ability. Adam's father and grandparents were Mosak, and by leaving shells of their blood, Adam can access their Mosak ability one last time whenever he needs it.
Cool! Thanks!
100% agree Opena is a modern master in art, it is just insane, THIS NEEDS TO BE READ THIS LARGE.
Yes this seems like a great use of a really Over-Sized format!
Really enjoyed this run. The artwork was incredible and the story was enough to keep me turning pages until I was done.
It was a real joy of a read
Solid review. I loved this series. The HC edition is, as you say "a big 'ol double dip" for me since I bought every issue off the shelf. Opena's work deserves to be seen at this size though so I couldn't resist.
Totally agree! The bigger format is PERFECT
I have this on the shelf and I've been trying to sneak it in to my active reading pile. Time to get to it!
Yes! do it
Read the trades.
Hey man.
I have this on my shelf waiting to be read.
I started buying graphic novels, omnis etc 4 years ago and my word the addiction is unreal!
Constantly buying bookshelves 🤣✌️
Yes there is no end in sight to the great reads ahead!
Great read,I am abt 30% through it.
It's a great one
I picked up the first trade of this & as usual was being interrupted too often to actually read it. I did get to skim through it and see the spectacular art. As soon as I heard about this edition & the almost perfect size it was being printed at, I pre-ordered it. A beautiful book. One of the best-looking books in My collection but I still can't find time to read it. May be one day.
I totally agree with your assessment of the art. Why they hired James Harren as the replacement artist I simply don't understand. Not a bad artist but his work is totally out of place in this book. They should have simply given Opena a rest, but we fans forget that comics aren't just an art-form, they're a business. An artist, like one of the Kuberts, should have been considered instead.
Wonderful review. Keep 'em coming. The book is being sold on Amazon for $ 46.90.
Thanks! Yes you really have to wonder how they pick these fill-in artists! Just a bad juxtaposition!
I’ve had this one on my radar….now I’m curious to see the car wreck filler art…
Hah....I didn't scan any so as not to beat up on the guy
Great review! I just discovered this channel from your participation in NMC’s year-end video, so I’m a little late here, but hopes the lost helps anyway.
This is my favorite Remender story. And I agree that Opena’s art is the key.
My usual criticism of Remender is that he creates great characters and does interesting world-building, but then goes with an optimistic, hopeful ending in a story that’s otherwise fairly dark. Those sorts of endings can be fine, but in Remender’s stories, they always hit me as a late contrivance to avoid a dark ending.
In interviews, Remender says that he’s not very optimistic personally, and you can tell, as his best writing is found in the darker sections, and then it just seems to weaken when he tries to force a hopeful ending. That’s not how he does it here. I just wish he’d stuck to those sensibilities in other stories.
Thanks for checking out my channel! You make some very interesting points. I've only read a handful of Remender books so I haven't picked up on these tendencies yet. I'm kind of pessimistic myself but I'm TRYING to be less so! What I do on this channel is sort of an exorcise in that endeavor. In other words I am trying to make this content about my LOVE of books, comics and reading & less about complaining. So I think maybe I see what Remender may be doing with trying for more hopeful endings! Again thanks for checking out my videos & Happy New Year.
Book is crazy. A lot twists. Who do you trust. Dark story.
Agreed....it gets dark!
@@LarrysLibrary ending was crazy. He got played. Stick to your morals. Damn
@@francoisdemorcy5084 Yes! Powerful stuff
Hey love your videos and content, so I was wondering what are the best websites to buy omnibus’s or the most reliable in your opinion? Cause I think I’m going to dip my toe and buy my first thanks to your vids and recommendations
Thanks for watching. Best Omni vendors: Instocktrades.com , Talesofwonder.com , www.dcbservice.com/ (pre-orders only here), cheapgraphicnovels.com , organicpricedbooks.com , Amazon, eBay ....in more or less that order
@@LarrysLibrary 👍 thanks and also i wanted to ask, I know that you said you said you are not into 90s comics that much but I know you did the Namor Omni review you enjoyed a lot and I know you are a marvel guy. So I was wondering if you would ever do a video on Kurt busiek and George Perez avengers or Kurt and mark bagelys thunderbolts omnis I know you would love the art would be interesting to see what you would have to say about them
@@christiangomez466 I have the Avengers Forever OHC...really loved that one! I am tempted to get that Avengers by Busiek/Perez Omni reprint.
Your Sentient book is upside down.
I do that every time I take it off the shelf! LOL
Nice review. I’ll add it to my ever growing list of books to read. You’re becoming as bad as Omar is on my wallet.
Hah! You're welcome?
Opena's art spoils readers and kinda ruins it for other artists because he's top tier. He's my favorite currently but he doesn't work often. Matteo scalera is 2nd right now
Yes Opena is a modern master for sure! I don't know if I've seen Scalera or not
