In Marvel’s Spiderman 2, the healing abilities are purely within the technology of the suit, so an animation wouldn’t be possible in that situation. Moreover, a slow animation would make you unable to heal mid-combat, which would make the game significantly harder for less skilled players
Not really, the game was released in 2014, 1 year later, we got arkham knight. Before that, there was arkham city, that looks better, play better, has better story etc. I do have fond memories of TASM games but they kinda suck lol
I really miss the left-right trigger mechanic for web swinging from TASM2. It helped me get just that tiny bit more immersed in the gameplay. It's not bad that Insomniac doesn't have that, it's just a feature I wished they'd include.
It is possible they could've added a legacy control option. A lot of ppl dying realize that each Trigger basically has 2 press types: Short Press, and long press(where you can actually feel the haptic triggers pressure). Returnal actually takes advantage of this and it's how your gun has 2 different firing modes within one button. Idk why nobody else has thought to do something similar with L2 or R2 yet.

Though it might not be possible with L2... there can STILL be a way for they to make a mechanic where he switches between left or right buildings while swinging. Take the "Corner-Tether" design, and transfer it to (❌️). Either you turn the joystick Left of Right? He'll shoot another web, similarly to how it worked in the ORIGINAL Spider-Man 2. They can do this.

What I like about the car chases in TASM2 is that they require you to be in control at all times. Getting on the car, removing the back window, saving the hostage, removing one of the thugs from the car, getting back on the car if you fail. It's a simple and straightforward system but it makes you feel like you're actually stopping the crime that's being commited. Hence, a car chase. In Spider-man 2, it's a button prompt and that's it. You zip on the car, and press whatever button shows up. Which is in all honesty questionable, considering how the car chases were in the games prior to Spider-man 2. Where you move to each side of the car to take out each criminal one by one before stopping the vehicle entirely. It was a lot more engaging. I think they were going for a more realistic approach. If Spider-man can stop the car without taking down each thug individually why doesn't he? And yeah, makes sense. Only problem is, is that you're stripping the player of their control and in the end it just becomes a cutscene.
its almost non comparable. the feeling, the cinematic presentation, and now due to advanced traversal is so good in msm 2 and it puts tasm 2 to shame. it had its unique ideas for gameplay but it didn‘t really go well due to the game feeling undercooked and weightless.

@@jakearrow8047 i can still recall when i bought tasm 2 for full price and trying to cope and justify it. meanwhile my brother and my dad (who usually is impressed by games) said „are the devs serious? game looks bad and its 14 chapters long“ but replaying it feels like a horrible nightmare. the hero and menace system is so off putting, gameplay itself is extremely shallow, graphics are bad at best and the story is a mess.

Wow Insomniac really borrowed a lot of mechanics and combat ideas from Amazing Spider-Man series. Also a few things in TASM2 felt better like the side wall running animation and down the wall running .

You can also rappel from the walls in marvel spider man 2 only if u hold the wall with ur web for a certain amount a time with a slow speed cause if u go fast it will perform a slingshot if u go slow it will hold the wall or let it go so ye I tried to do it and it worked for me
tasm2 was the best movie in terms of pure spider-man action, and it had a lot of great things going for it (imo GOAT musical score) but it was a mess in a lot of other ways that really degraded its overall quality 😢
for some reason TASM 2 is hated a lot. I still cannot understand. I was just 11 when I watched it and as a childhood Spidey fan it matched my expectations. great action, one of the best music by hans Zimmer, one of the best VFX(of electro), better than no way home.. I feel the story was a let down maybe but overall one of the best movie for kids to watch. yeah it had flaws like goblin out of nowhere or not focusing enough on electro. but it's hated I feel only because it's not a part of canon Mcu. bring Andrew Garfield into the mcu via secret wars and then you won't have these haters hating Mcu. by this logic captain America the winter soldier was mid as well as it didn't match expectations of many superhero fans, which also came out in 2014.

Plotwise, it was not that bad of a spiderman story. If you say goblin was unnecessarily introduced, then similarly no way home had a lot of unnecessary elements. but it's a goated movie as well. i personally found TASM 2 to be an upgrade to the first movie.
there is apparently an animation for running downwards on buildings in the first insomniac Spider-Man game but it seems to be cut from the game or unfinished or something. People found it somewhere in the game files. It's a shame they never actually added it especially since this proves they clearly worked on it at one point.

I don't know how accurate it would be to compare these two games because there is a 9-year difference between them and this is a serious difference. While The Amazing Spider Man 2 is an enjoyable game with its average graphics and average gameplay, Marvels Spider Man 2 has excellent graphics, excellent story, and it's a very good game with excellent net shooting and swinging. In short, what I mean is that it would be unfair to compare these two games. At least that's what I think.
well this both games had ther own good point in their way but, overall details physics and the logic that i liked the most, was The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so yea if we had to choose a winner for this comparision i would prefer choose: TASM 2 more.
The only thing SM2 has over old SM games is the PS Studios big budget cinematic presentation. Both ASM2 and Web of Shadows actually have better combat systems and boss fights.

Tasm2 was a bad spm game but had random awesome moments. Slingshot while swinging is cool (even tho that was in spm2 PS2), very few crimes are better than spm2 ps5. In tasm2 if there was a burning building you actually had to go inside the building and save ppl whereas in spm2 ps5 you just web icons. The car chases in tasm2 ps4 are more interactive than spm2 ps5. Tasm2 has a combat area (it’s not expansive at all) but in spm2 ps5 as of this comment there’s no combat arena or even repayable enemy bases. yes the L2/R2 was cool but there a very limited animations in comparison to spm2 ps5 let alone spm ps4.
Huh, i used to love TASM2 as a kid.. well i guess we all kind of did. But yeah.. the game is very unpolished. New York looks like a cardbord cutout, the swinging is slow and the physics are weird. The combat is simple and leaves no room for creativity (very flashy tho), and new york is very small in both the x and y axis.. But i can't bring myself to hate this game, i have so many fond memories of it..
It's weird that Gameloft used Yuri Lowenthal's voice for TASM 2 on Android, the perfect voice for Spiderman. Yet the console one uses some guy who doesn't even remotely sound like Andrew Garfield.
I can't explain why but for me Tasm2 can be more beautiful, I've always had that feeling, obviously I can't compare the graphics, Spider Man 2 on PS5 is much more graphically beautiful but the colors of the city and the spider in Tasm2 call me more attention.
The seasons in TASM based on your system's clock is cool too. It just sucked that clues were revealed on like christmas decorations, meaning you had to wait MONTHS to possibly platinum or unlock new costumes. The stealth was fun, i think liked the stealth in the first one more? I haven't played it in years so ic an't remember. I loved the screen shaking and wind effect during a dive though.
Never played either one but both look great.... Also noticed the voice actor for tasm2 is the same guy who does Donatello for the 2003 series, which is awesome to me 🥷🏿🐢💯

In TASM2, Spidey is so much more aggressive and brutal, and that was fun at the time, but now that we have the new game, even though a couple of features are missing like the sliding down a wall, I do think it's better than the older one. I like the less aggressive Peter. Especially in the stealth takedowns, it's noticable. In TASM2, Peter smashed that guy's head in the wall a second time for good meassure like pulling him into it full force wasn't enough. Like, why was that necessary?

@@bagle5599 ok fs!!! so rappelling is when you descend, or ascend something, and that state can only trigger when you are from a ceiling (in this game you can even do a multitude of things other than just going up or down, like stealth takedowns, and shooting webs, same case for tasm2), and when you trigger the hanging state when you get zero momentum from your web you can do neither of those things. sure, the animation is shared between those two states but the mechanics are completely different. you can also hang from your web in the tasm 2 game but you cannot go up or down because that isnt considered rappeling since its still a web swing, and thats the same case for msm2. (you can also move while in the hanging state to get your speed back in the tasm2 game, unlike msm2) anyways i really hope this cleared up your ignorance!!

I gotta disagree. Web Of Shadows has worse web swinging (yes I know it’s fast sometimes, but it’s lackluster, and doesn’t have much variation in terms of swinging animations and tricks compared to the newest game), horrible voice acting, bad sound design/music (the only good music is the intro music) and an awful plot. The one thing it has above Marvel Spider Man 2 is combat variation. It has a lot of combat moves for sure, including wall combat. But that’s about it. Although I’m not saying Marvel Spider Man 2 is perfect. It’s definitely flawed, but saying WOS is better is simply not true.
In my opinion, the only thing that TASM 2 wins is the wall-climbing gameplay, because in addition to changing the camera, making it more immersive, it looks more like Spider-Man is climbing, like, sticking his hands to the walls , and with the help of the camera, it makes the fact that he actually sticks his hands to the walls much stronger.

The one thing I don't like is that the original likeness for Peter Parker in Insomniac's Spider-Man was changed to look more like Tom Holland. I liked the way he used to look, it fit really well with the character and _is_ a different character. I don't understand why they did it. Money and brand recognition, but I still don't get it.

Wow Insomniac really borrowed a lot of mechanics and combat ideas from Amazing Spider-Man series. Also a few things in TASM2 felt better like the side wall running animation and down the wall running .
i remember playing The Amazing spider-man 2 game when i was younger and i thought it was the most incredible game ever. Little did i know how much more advanced games would get. Spider-man 2 is an absolute masterpiece. So over hated, i don't understand the hate it gets to be honest
You can also rappel from the walls in marvel spider man 2 only if u hold the wall with ur web for a certain amount a time with a slow speed cause if u go fast it will perform a slingshot if u go slow it will hold the wall or let it go so ye I tried to do it and it worked for me

tasm2 was the best movie in terms of pure spider-man action, and it had a lot of great things going for it (imo GOAT musical score) but it was a mess in a lot of other ways that really degraded its overall quality 😢

great action, one of the best music by hans Zimmer, one of the best VFX(of electro), better than no way home.. I feel the story was a let down maybe but overall one of the best movie for kids to watch.

an electrical engineer whos not respected at his workplace channels his anger and unleashes chaos when he transforms by being bitten by electric eels. Meanwhile, your best friend whose dad is a billionaire becomes angry when you don't give him your blood to cure him and dies..(typical spiderman comic storyline).
what's wrong in this plot? in my opinion it is a definitely 100x better than the recent crap Marvel has been producing post endgame.
the electro suite is something which will stick with me for a lifetime as I was watching the show in the night 2am show in the theatre.
Plotwise, it was not that bad of a spiderman story. If you say goblin was unnecessarily introduced, then similarly no way home had a lot of unnecessary elements. but it's a goated movie as well.
i personally found TASM 2 to be an upgrade to the first movie.
there is apparently an animation for running downwards on buildings in the first insomniac Spider-Man game but it seems to be cut from the game or unfinished or something. People found it somewhere in the game files. It's a shame they never actually added it especially since this proves they clearly worked on it at one point.

I don't know how accurate it would be to compare these two games because there is a 9-year difference between them and this is a serious difference. While The Amazing Spider Man 2 is an enjoyable game with its average graphics and average gameplay, Marvels Spider Man 2 has excellent graphics, excellent story, and it's a very good game with excellent net shooting and swinging. In short, what I mean is that it would be unfair to compare these two games. At least that's what I think.

Tasm2 was a bad spm game but had random awesome moments. Slingshot while swinging is cool (even tho that was in spm2 PS2), very few crimes are better than spm2 ps5. In tasm2 if there was a burning building you actually had to go inside the building and save ppl whereas in spm2 ps5 you just web icons. The car chases in tasm2 ps4 are more interactive than spm2 ps5. Tasm2 has a combat area (it’s not expansive at all) but in spm2 ps5 as of this comment there’s no combat arena or even repayable enemy bases. yes the L2/R2 was cool but there a very limited animations in comparison to spm2 ps5 let alone spm ps4.

Huh, i used to love TASM2 as a kid.. well i guess we all kind of did.
But yeah.. the game is very unpolished. New York looks like a cardbord cutout, the swinging is slow and the physics are weird. The combat is simple and leaves no room for creativity (very flashy tho), and new york is very small in both the x and y axis..
But i can't bring myself to hate this game, i have so many fond memories of it..

It's weird that Gameloft used Yuri Lowenthal's voice for TASM 2 on Android, the perfect voice for Spiderman. Yet the console one uses some guy who doesn't even remotely sound like Andrew Garfield.
As a kid, I always thought the TASM2 game was peak back then lol, I was 9.
I can't explain why but for me Tasm2 can be more beautiful, I've always had that feeling, obviously I can't compare the graphics, Spider Man 2 on PS5 is much more graphically beautiful but the colors of the city and the spider in Tasm2 call me more attention.
Tasm 2 healing is bad. It takes too long to heal
The seasons in TASM based on your system's clock is cool too. It just sucked that clues were revealed on like christmas decorations, meaning you had to wait MONTHS to possibly platinum or unlock new costumes. The stealth was fun, i think liked the stealth in the first one more? I haven't played it in years so ic an't remember. I loved the screen shaking and wind effect during a dive though.

In TASM2, Spidey is so much more aggressive and brutal, and that was fun at the time, but now that we have the new game, even though a couple of features are missing like the sliding down a wall, I do think it's better than the older one. I like the less aggressive Peter. Especially in the stealth takedowns, it's noticable. In TASM2, Peter smashed that guy's head in the wall a second time for good meassure like pulling him into it full force wasn't enough. Like, why was that necessary?

@@bagle5599 ok fs!!! so rappelling is when you descend, or ascend something, and that state can only trigger when you are from a ceiling (in this game you can even do a multitude of things other than just going up or down, like stealth takedowns, and shooting webs, same case for tasm2), and when you trigger the hanging state when you get zero momentum from your web you can do neither of those things. sure, the animation is shared between those two states but the mechanics are completely different. you can also hang from your web in the tasm 2 game but you cannot go up or down because that isnt considered rappeling since its still a web swing, and thats the same case for msm2. (you can also move while in the hanging state to get your speed back in the tasm2 game, unlike msm2) anyways i really hope this cleared up your ignorance!!

I gotta disagree. Web Of Shadows has worse web swinging (yes I know it’s fast sometimes, but it’s lackluster, and doesn’t have much variation in terms of swinging animations and tricks compared to the newest game), horrible voice acting, bad sound design/music (the only good music is the intro music) and an awful plot. The one thing it has above Marvel Spider Man 2 is combat variation. It has a lot of combat moves for sure, including wall combat. But that’s about it.
Although I’m not saying Marvel Spider Man 2 is perfect. It’s definitely flawed, but saying WOS is better is simply not true.
Honestly, I prefer the Spider-Man 2 version.
In my opinion, the only thing that TASM 2 wins is the wall-climbing gameplay, because in addition to changing the camera, making it more immersive, it looks more like Spider-Man is climbing, like, sticking his hands to the walls , and with the help of the camera, it makes the fact that he actually sticks his hands to the walls much stronger.

The one thing I don't like is that the original likeness for Peter Parker in Insomniac's Spider-Man was changed to look more like Tom Holland. I liked the way he used to look, it fit really well with the character and _is_ a different character. I don't understand why they did it. Money and brand recognition, but I still don't get it.
