I guess I’m one of the *very few* who actually enjoy the gameplay of mafia 3. The repetitiveness doesn’t really bother me. I really loved mafia 3. Although the hundreds of bugs was irritating
The people who complain about it being repetitive are hypocrites. EVERY video game has repetitive gameplay. GTA? Repetitive. Just Cause? Repetitive. Battlefield? Repetitive. The main Pokemon games? Repetitive. Hotel? Trivago.
Yes; I actually love GTA V but it is insanely repetitive. You're basically doing fetch quests the entire time, no matter what you're and where you're doing it.
@@Gamer88334 repetition isn’t an issue if the gameplay at its core is FUN. gta has such good physics across the board and offers so much variety in the way you move throughout the map, same as just cause, so we don’t mind the repetition. mafia 3 imo has enough fun factor to make the repetition alright.
Same here for sure. Just found this game and really enjoy it. Character involvment is pretty much key for me, and the characters and story have really got me hooked. Gameplay is enjoyable too. I haven't found any real glitches, and everything seems real smooth and intuitive. Just helped Burke take down Barbieri, and don't know how much more there is to go, but I hope a lot.
In MAFIA 3, I was attacking this dude once, and I ended up doing a choke-slam as my brutal attack, and this one civilian just said "Yeah, treat him like you treat your women in bed". I died laughing.
I personally think Lincoln's movement (slow walking to jodging to sprinting and the way he moves his body when tilting the analog-even slightly is very well done compared to others) animations is some of the best in almost any open world game.
One that impresses me the most is the aiming down the gun then going to a sprint. For a split second licoln will still be aiming down the gun and doing a side step before going into a full sprint. Looks realistic asf compared to the snap back into running animations most games do
When your in a gun fight, listen to the attacking npc's, they are always so confident that they can kill you, and when you blow someone's head off, this one guy says, " holy shit, he's better then I thought, fuckin run!" I don't think I have ever laughed harder.
When i played for the first time and i was doing stealth in the first Hatians scene some Buff guy is like "Okay let's go this way" 'Loud Footsteps'. Well that was the first time i have played the game but it was so funny after seeing the stealth in Mafia 1. I don't even know which i like more. However i do hate in Mafia 3 that they know where you are even after they're looking at the place where you think you are and you can't sneak up and choke em.
Strange thing: I once ordered new ammo, and the orange van crashed killing the driver. I was still able to buy ammo, talk to the guy selling and the van ended up driving away with the dead driver behind the wheel. Ghost rider much?
Hahaha man thats one bug I have yet to encounter XD haha I've seen Jackie (the arms dealer) run me over ram other cars run over others but that takes the cake.
This is why I LOVE Mafia III, these small details are what make a good game great and they increase your immersion into the game world. It’s so sad that the majority of people don’t bother to take notice of these details and instead only look at the bigger picture.
GTA kinda ruined it for many I guess as they seem to expect all games to play like that, but the Mafia series never really was about this open world free to roam forever. Although this did change in Mafia 2 (the DLC content) and was fully brought to Mafia 3 (talking open world free roam during and after the story)
one attention to detail you missed : when starting up the car the headlight dims during ignition and lits up fully when started this one impressed me most
That and there's no power steering so as you have likely noticed turning cars in this game is difficult at best and wall slamming or pole crashing at worst lol
Most 1960s American cars had power steering, at least as an option. Hell, this feature was a thing even in the 50s, so that hard-ass handling is a bit too far fetched for Mafia 3. It would've been nice in Mafia 2 though.
I know if it had multiplayer I think more people would play I just finished he game and I low-key miss te game still want to do a coupe of things I enjoyed it tho I can conclude
GuapJosh hmm interesting. Other than the story & soundtrack I despised this game. Complete letdown to me. Story missions are superb, it’s the filling in between those missions that I struggled to get thru. By far the most bland, mundane & grindy videogame I’ve ever played in the last 5 maybe even 10 years. I was so let down especially comparing it to Mafia 2 by this 💩 show. Took me almost 2 years to finally beat the game it was that grindy & boring outside of the storyline missions
Last thing I noticed when I played it (which was today) were the showers in the Barbieri slaughterhouse, one was for whites and one was for coloured. The coloured one was far more filthy looking than the whites only shower, thought that was kinda interesting.
Nice little detail I found after watching another video is that, depending on where you approach him (side or front), Lincoln kills Sal differently during their final confrontation.
I missed this at first, the first time I didn't know what to do and Sal grabbed a a gun and kiled himself. The second play through I knew I had an option so I went for the knife and stabbed Sal.
You can see the air intake actually open when you accelerate. The truck you get from Enzo is actually a 4x4 and does better going up offroad hills than sports/ exotics (unlike gta where u can use a lambo to climb mountains)
Mafia 3 has great car related details. You can hear vacuum lines under the hood. Heavy braking locks up the drums/disc brakes and you can't turn. The lights dim while idling because the generator/alternator is turning slower and the voltage regulator cant keep up untill you rev or start driving. When you get out the halogen lights turn off slowly. Wipers work of course. You can hear the exhaust cooling down when you turn off the vehicle. Etc. Its so cool.
I knew all of these except rolling over the hood if you are in cover. That was cool. Although, i have played this game maybe 5-6 times through. So underrated. The constant repetition and similatity of base missions you have to do, are propably the reason for that.

Reason why there weren't clothes or anything else related to the open-world? Because it came second just the same as the second game. Figuratively both companies who built both Mafia II and III both did the exact same concept. Both cared for the story and forgot the rest practically. Realistically both are like similar brothers who deny it. Both have alright gameplay, both have alright this-that-and-the-other. I've been overly annoyed by how much people ride Mafia II's dick. What did Mafia II do better than Mafia III? Mafia II sure had garages and set clothes, had little things to interact with but funny enough Mafia III could've had the exact same concept but Hanger 13 looked towards what impacted the story. I liked it because it reminded me of Max Payne or other similar games that have open-world sandboxes but are linear. Nobody who disrespects Mafia III could live in the 2000's.

Greet video mafia 3 is a tonne of fun and full of details. I’m re starting as I lost so much money from dying and finished a mission died during it, very early on had to take two guys out and I wasn’t sure how to progress the quest. It was after taking down the brothel very early in game.
great game although it would have been amazing if you could buy homes, clothes, modify your cars and be able to free roam after the main storyline...would have been great to have that in mafia 2 too! Not with mods I mean...but still it was satisfying ripping Marcano's life apart, throat by throat, dollar by dollar

there is one little detail when u put the supercharger on certain vehicles u can see the little doors on it that they opening and closing depends how much u push the pedal
This is likely something many people already know, but if you go to game settings theres an option to choose between lethal and non-lethal takedowns, i didnt find this till i started replaying the game lmao
I really wised they added more thing to do. More side question things. The world now feels so empty. And were are the trains, and planes, wildlife ec ec.
Some of the DLC really adds more play time to it (like Faster baby) once you acquire the abaility to grow your own weed and sell it for some nice cash over and over while creating new strains.
My favourite out of the 3 mafia games, I'm into my 2nd playthrough and I'm just trophy hunting now, i just need 6 trophies for the campaign and 1 for the dlc's plus you don't need take a body into a boat and drive out and dump it in the river to be eaten by alligators, just dump the body in the nearest bit of water from where you're standing and the alligator will eat it
Recently mafia 3 was just added to the trilogy pack so I find myself stumbling on videos such as this, I can agree in some ways I do like mafia 3! And taking down the rackets that is boring to others I enjoyed! But the graphics didn’t seem that great compared to other games of its time, but seems like now with its definitive edition it’s actually gotten a bit worse! It also would’ve been cool to really take a hands on approach to building a mob empire like running your rackets, starting supply and distribution networks for them and so on. It also would’ve been cool for more player customization and maybe fixing up the plantation house you use for sit downs to make it a HQ/mansion for you

Everytime he reloads, he just takes the magazine, puts it in his pocket, takes it out. He doesn't even drop it on the ground. And pistols? Don't even get me started mate.
Mafia 3 is a masterpiece, story and character and visuals. Yes it has a lot of repetition, but what game doesn't. Busy playing Mad Max and it's repetition x 1000. People who are complaining about this, forgot that Mafia 1 introduced a world in which you can sink in and immerse. Mafia 2 tried to do that, but fails with it sloppy characters and story arcs.

Ah yes, people reacting differently to the same situation. Personally, I hate getting into firefights with civilians around in any game. I just don't like it when civvies get caught in the crossfire. But I don't try to prevent civilian casualties, I just try to keep them to a minimum. Even in small, personal wars like the one you partake in during the events of Mafia III, civilian casualties are nearly impossible to avoid (realistically speaking).
Two things, if you lose your car, just call for another one in the vehicle delivery service. And you don't have to see an alligator for the body to be disposed. just dump it in the water and an alligator will snatch it
some of these i never knew bout until now. Oh and while its mafia 3 related, if you ever get bored in the city you could always have shoot outs with mobsters by betraying two of the underbosses. By doing this you will be attacked endlessly by their hit squads until you kill the underbosses. Oh and was that the theme to wacky races? I never knew it was in the game :D

To be fair all races face racism in the game. You'll hear racist comments about the Irish and the Italians as well. On a side note as a person who was a teenager in the 70's this game is a bit of flash back.
It'll always be compared to GTA5. Unavoidable. But they are for different audiences honestly. Mafia 3 was an amazing crime story based on an allegory of a place and time... southern urban areas at the tail of the Vietnam War and Civil Rights movement. I would've personally liked more of the freedom riders and selma angle since the devs chose the setting and feel they did. But it was a great game. GTA5 is a country into itself. Fighter jets to the best Hoodie and beard to online mayhem never since touched. But sometimes you want a more bite size experience that is still Triple A quality. That's Mafia 3.
The game looked and played amazing. The only problem I recall was its like every other game, freeroam with enemy bases which you take over feels repetitive. Mafia 2 had realy great missions and scenarios. For example in mafia 3 the only different missions were the one where u go on that party boat of lou. And the second where you go to the casino in the north. The rest is just basic bases take over. Had waaay more potential..
Replaying the game for the second time since its original release and it was downgraded visually (maybe to free up their servers), but it is really shameful how they destroyed the detailing of both character and environment.

I think the main hate this game got was during launch, when all of the things it has now weren't included. Bullet time, car customization, the literal races themselves lmao. All of that was added after launch
I do see it, even though I just recently enjoyed completing the story and all DLC storylines. But one has to aknowledge that I only paid 12,41€. Had I paid full price on release + season pack (~90€) and I compare it to what you got 3 years earlier for just 60 bucks from GTA V I would already be pissed. Not only does this game offer way less content and quality, also the bad design of the environment adds to many of additional problems like game crashes, a nice but too small choice of ingame music (radio), stupid and blind AI, bad sound design (e.g. screeching tyres, engine sound) a.s.o. At no stage this game has ever been worth a full AAA price, but as I already mentioned I only paid 12 bucks and at that price I was able to overlook many of the flaws and kind of enjoyed it.
Love this game but it looks like unfinished. Like MGSV. There's so much places and locations but you can't do anything. No eating, drinking smuggling delivering no car repairs. Only thing what you can do is killing. Mission 1. Kill, Mission 2. Kill...... Mision 67. Kill... Side mission... Kill. And that 2 level steering sensivity. Someone knows how to disable it? I mean that sensivity of steering changes while increasing speed.

Playing this in 2018 on ps4 pro on 4k 55 inch. And loving it.
Another detail that wasn’t covered in this is that if you go over a bump on the road fast enough your tires actually compress and bulge over it
It's so well done that even during a rain the ground under a tree is dry.
Another fact: you can also stuff body's into trunks/boots (if your in England) and they won't fall out

Recently mafia 3 was just added to the trilogy pack so I find myself stumbling on videos such as this, I can agree in some ways I do like mafia 3! And taking down the rackets that is boring to others I enjoyed! But the graphics didn’t seem that great compared to other games of its time, but seems like now with its definitive edition it’s actually gotten a bit worse! It also would’ve been cool to really take a hands on approach to building a mob empire like running your rackets, starting supply and distribution networks for them and so on. It also would’ve been cool for more player customization and maybe fixing up the plantation house you use for sit downs to make it a HQ/mansion for you

I put around 25 hours into this game and loved it, but it got to the point that I couldn't play for more than 5 mins without it crashing. :'(
ik im 6 years late but if your in a police chase and your in the blue zone on they radio it talks about an unidentified suspect and how theres an ongoing manhunt or pursuit

I distributed the districts to the underbosses equally. And finished the rackets for them. And now it says that I have to hunt Marcano om my own. There's not much mission left. Is it game over?

Everytime he reloads, he just takes the magazine, puts it in his pocket, takes it out. He doesn't even drop it on the ground. And pistols? Don't even get me started mate.
You also missed out the part when Lincoln wanders around the Bayou Fathom, the locals will say "What's that Boy upto?
You don’t have to dispose of bodies in the bayou. Any big body of water will have the same effect
Driving is awesome. Vehicle handling is superb and the roads are wide and escaping police is easy than other games
You don't have to actually find an alligator... if you just throw a corpse into any deep water and wait a while an alligator will devour it. Awesome.
You forgot concrete bushes.
The thing I absolutely love about mafia 3 is using stealth sneaking up on people and taking them out #assassinmode

Mafia 3 is a masterpiece, story and character and visuals. Yes it has a lot of repetition, but what game doesn't. Busy playing Mad Max and it's repetition x 1000. People who are complaining about this, forgot that Mafia 1 introduced a world in which you can sink in and immerse. Mafia 2 tried to do that, but fails with it sloppy characters and story arcs.
I remember trying to run away from the cops and was trying to cut the phone line but accidentally used the hit crew feature and one of them yelled ( I'm gonna finish you like a donut) I laughed so hard
Mafia 4 in Las Vegas 1970's now that will be amazing if they keep doing each decade of era by the time there at 2020 mafia will be fucking amazing and honestly I would love that if they stick to the given era and what gangsters was famous in that era I would truly love that as gta and mafia player I think mafia is great in it's own way the storytelling but God improve protagonist and customisation please like bikes aircraft etc
Mafia 1 remake was an amazing improvement too so excited to see what they bring next i really liked mafia 3 even tho it had its ugly bugs and repetitiveness
I was trying to take control of one of the rackets and during the shootout a female civilian was stuck down in the area and kept screaming and yelling the whole time

Ah yes, people reacting differently to the same situation. Personally, I hate getting into firefights with civilians around in any game. I just don't like it when civvies get caught in the crossfire. But I don't try to prevent civilian casualties, I just try to keep them to a minimum. Even in small, personal wars like the one you partake in during the events of Mafia III, civilian casualties are nearly impossible to avoid (realistically speaking).

Two things, if you lose your car, just call for another one in the vehicle delivery service. And you don't have to see an alligator for the body to be disposed. just dump it in the water and an alligator will snatch it
some of these i never knew bout until now. Oh and while its mafia 3 related, if you ever get bored in the city you could always have shoot outs with mobsters by betraying two of the underbosses. By doing this you will be attacked endlessly by their hit squads until you kill the underbosses. Oh and was that the theme to wacky races? I never knew it was in the game :D
Oh really!? I didn't know you could betray 2 of them! An yeah that is the Wacky Races theme, but it's not in Mafia 3. I was just messing around with it and thought it was appropriate seen as though it first aired in 1968. :P

I like that because people are partially educated on one part of racism in the US so much that i always hear the phrase " a black man in 1960's America... Because in the 60's, England and Australia were racial utopias and black men were treated with respect. Let alone all the other countries that still commit slavery and genocide.

To be fair all races face racism in the game. You'll hear racist comments about the Irish and the Italians as well. On a side note as a person who was a teenager in the 70's this game is a bit of flash back.

Nope, no burglaries in this title I'm afraid.
The takedowns are the best part of this game.
So there's no garages but yet you had to use one to customize that car. Also there's a perk which allows vehicles to be brought.

Mafia 3 was an amazing crime story based on an allegory of a place and time... southern urban areas at the tail of the Vietnam War and Civil Rights movement.
I would've personally liked more of the freedom riders and selma angle since the devs chose the setting and feel they did. But it was a great game.
GTA5 is a country into itself. Fighter jets to the best Hoodie and beard to online mayhem never since touched.
But sometimes you want a more bite size experience that is still Triple A quality. That's Mafia 3.
The game looked and played amazing. The only problem I recall was its like every other game, freeroam with enemy bases which you take over feels repetitive. Mafia 2 had realy great missions and scenarios. For example in mafia 3 the only different missions were the one where u go on that party boat of lou. And the second where you go to the casino in the north. The rest is just basic bases take over. Had waaay more potential..
Dude dont forget the best mission, The spiking the wine with LSD at the funeral

Replaying the game for the second time since its original release and it was downgraded visually (maybe to free up their servers), but it is really shameful how they destroyed the detailing of both character and environment.

I fucking love this game i don't see why it gets so much hate from hater's.
The only thing about the game that pisses me off is the races because i suck at them. lol
I think the main hate this game got was during launch, when all of the things it has now weren't included. Bullet time, car customization, the literal races themselves lmao. All of that was added after launch
I do see it, even though I just recently enjoyed completing the story and all DLC storylines. But one has to aknowledge that I only paid 12,41€. Had I paid full price on release + season pack (~90€) and I compare it to what you got 3 years earlier for just 60 bucks from GTA V I would already be pissed. Not only does this game offer way less content and quality, also the bad design of the environment adds to many of additional problems like game crashes, a nice but too small choice of ingame music (radio), stupid and blind AI, bad sound design (e.g. screeching tyres, engine sound) a.s.o.
At no stage this game has ever been worth a full AAA price, but as I already mentioned I only paid 12 bucks and at that price I was able to overlook many of the flaws and kind of enjoyed it.
Love this game but it looks like unfinished. Like MGSV. There's so much places and locations but you can't do anything. No eating, drinking smuggling delivering no car repairs. Only thing what you can do is killing. Mission 1. Kill, Mission 2. Kill...... Mision 67. Kill... Side mission... Kill.
And that 2 level steering sensivity. Someone knows how to disable it? I mean that sensivity of steering changes while increasing speed.
