Meet Christina Hering (

May we introduce to you: Christina Hering, 11-time German 800m champion and member of the "Class of 22"!
With her father a former professional basketball player, Christian was meant to join a sports club at a young age. However, unlike Thomas Hering, eight-year-old Christina did not end up in the basketball gym but on the tartan track. One peek at her CV proves: she made the right decision. Christina has been a member of the German national team since 2012 and won her first of - so far - eleven German championship titles in 2014. In her favourite discipline, the 800m run, the Munich-born runner was also able to collect several medals on international level: a silver medal at the Universiade in 2019 as well as bronze at the U20 European Championship 2013 and the U23 European Championship 2015, respectively. One of her biggest successes was the participation in the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio. Her motivation to take a step forward in Tokyo and at the European Championships at home in 2022 is immense.

Bei einem ehemaligen Basketball-Bundesliga-Spieler als Vater lag der frühe Eintritt in einen Sportverein nahe, doch anders als Thomas Hering verschlug es die achtjährige Christina nicht in die Halle, sondern auf die Tartanbahn. Ein Blick auf ihren CV bestätigt: Mit der Wahl lag sie goldrichtig. Seit 2012 ist Hering Mitglied der deutschen Nationalmannschaft, 2014 lief sie zu ihrem ersten von bisher elf nationalen Meistertiteln. In ihrer Paradedisziplin 800 Meter holte die gebürtige Münchnerin auch international Medaillen: Silber bei der Universiade 2019 und jeweils Bronze bei der U20-EM 2013 und U23-EM 2015. Die Teilnahme an den Olympischen Spielen 2016 in Rio de Janeiro zählt sie persönlich zu ihren größten Erfolgen.
