That Secretary is a beautiful piece, the space is so airy and inviting!
I used the 6 x 9 drop cloths from Walmart too. Wow. I was so impressed with how they turned out. No way could I have bought drapes that hung so well for that price. I had tons and tons of wood clip rings that I had collected from thrift stores over the years. They are so easy to open and close curtains. I have a TON of windows!!! I have “insulated” curtains to save on heat and they have been hanging for three years. The creases will not come out! I despise polyester curtains too. The look of the drop cloths is so cozy, rustic and relaxed. They go with everything and hang well.

I think that I'm soooooo happy for you and your family to have found that beautiful secretary. They were such a mainstay in wealthy southern homes at one point.. When my family moved from the south to the north and in between, no one ever ever mentioned leaving the secretary behind. And you should hear the stories that my grams and great grams told about those grand pieces of furniture. That beautiful piece in the corner of your LR brings all of the pieces in that area together as well is tying the room with the windows (because of the height) and the outside. Well done you!

The wood piece with the holes in the metal basket is a cribbage board. Cribbage is a card game and yoy keep score with little pegs in the holes. Sometimes there is a little sliding opening in the bottom to store the pegs.
