  • Top Hat, Emplexador Playthrough. Marshall 68 Plexi style amp with Dr. White.
    Notice how much better a good guitar sounds( Blue Tom Anderson) than a garbage one (White Les Paul Studio)

    Hi There. Hope all is well. I'm looking for a "Marshally" amp to replace my recent 1959HW I bought new. It was returned as it exhibited some issues that I didn't want headaches about...especially on a new amp. Currently have a Matchless HC30 and a Two Rock CRS to cover the vox and fender/dumble sounds. What's your take on the Top Hat Emplexador....does it nail the Plexi tone? Also can the amp sound close to a JTM45. I had shortlisted the Top Hat, Suhr SL68 and Matchless Independence. Was gonna go for the Independance but it seemed it just touched Plexi territory...lots more gain than I'd need. Hope to hear from you.

      sorry I just found your comment. yes it gets close to the JTM 45, and yes it gets pretty close to a plexi you can hear how much power to distortion there is when I’m playing the blue guitar. The preamp is only on two

    I found a Top Hat Emplexador 50watt at my local - been there for a while. How would you rate this Plexi style amp compared to any others you may have played? Wizard? Taylor? etc. The tone you''re getting really sound good.

      I would rate this very high, one of the best. I got rid of a Matchless Independence when I got this. Better than a Fargen Olde 800, Roccaforte custom 80, Marshal JTM45 RI, Budda Stringmaster. I just got a new Limited Edition Les Paul and wow what a difference compared to that Studio LP I used in the demo. Sounds best with the Master on ten. I have old ANOS Blackburn Mullard preamp tubes in it.
      It’s a great amp! Most TopHats are super with a high build quality.

    You said boosted, with what ? Boost pedal ? Love my TH Emplexador btw

    • @drwhiteguru
      @drwhiteguru  5 лет назад +2

      No, No Boost pedal. I mean it's in Modern mode which adds another gain stage from an un-used side of one of the preamp tubes. No Pedals!

    dr white what kind of distortion pedal did you use in this video

    • @drwhiteguru
      @drwhiteguru  3 года назад

      no pedals were used whatsoever. when I say the app is “boosted“ I’m referring to a gain switch on the amp it is “push pull in the pull position or boosted mode it adds an extra tube gain stage.

    The amp kills and so does the Anderson. The Les Paul sounds like ass.
