As they say I’m love it when a plan comes together. For the vehicles … matte varnish, dry brushed dirt colours on the wheels and lower areas and then a dark wash to pick up the joint lines. I love the comment about the windscreen wiper marks … going to give it a go myself.

That station area looks wonderful now. Very pleasing on the eye. I was a little concerned that you were closing in the access to the car park with the trees but think there’s just enough room to drive in. I have a few of those Oxford die cast cars and think they are beautiful. Great value for money too. Thanks for sharing Tris. Roy.

Really enjoyable update there. Given me some thoughts for my own layout. Such as that spiked fence, that looks really nice as is, will have to pick some of that up.

Incidentally, is it possible to refresh me with the bush product manufacturer/product name, as you say it might be expensive but boy it looks good.

Hi Neil, Double sided tape is a good idea but I can also recommend spray mount. I used 3M and it has lasted for years and you do not get any bubbles. You can also adjust for a while.

Great video, Tris. It has been a while since I have seen some of the layout here, so it has come a long way. I find the key to depth and the effect of a backdrop, whether photo-realistic or a hand-painted bit is to get the tones and shades of colors as close as possible to the scenery used on the layout- static grass, etc. Charlie Bishop did a backscene and the coloring of his static grass was so close to the greens in the backscene, they just completely melded into one another and made both parts pop all the more.

Hi Tris love the back drop(s) what I did to some add more depth to some of my back drop was to glue greenish foliage to the back drop printed trees. With reference to your vehicles yes matt varnish takes that showroom look and whilst your doing this try masking off in a semi circle the front screens to show the wipe of the window screen wipers, the effect is great.. Take care and look forward to your next video..

That has transformed the station area very nicely. I have a one-piece vinyl back scene to put around the layout. I know some people do not like photo back scenes and it does look very glossy, so I might Matt vanish it first. It will be interesting to watch you turn the Hall Class back to GWR livery. Martin. With the backscenes, would it perhaps be a useful idea to wrap it around the edges so you have less chance of getting rough edges if you're not careful with the blade when trimming. Looks great.

No the repainting a great livery to boring / horrid GWR green! But I do like your fencing around the station area, but don't forget older vehicles used to leek oil, as part and parcel (a motorcycle restorer has said to me, the bikes don't leek oil, like the1960's due to modern silicon's now used) so Trist you have to dull down the car park plus add oil stains ----- good luck! PS more trees to hide the break!!

That 3D printed fence could have done with a second iteration. Did you check the angle first or just eyeball it?
Fence posts should always be vertical regardless of ground angle - sorry one of my pet hates in modelling.
Now, let's talk about your lamp posts 😁
Nice update Tris and the backdrops do look nice.

    • @OONeal

Hello Greg, I agree it could have done with a few more degrees but it was close enough as it’s something I can re do another time. It’s nice that you noticed as I did wonder if people would see. Ok so whats wrong with the lamp posts 😊 thank you anyway this made me smile 😊

    • @ausfoodgarden
      @ausfoodgarden 2 года назад

@@OONeal Well if you can't see those lamposts falling over.... sadly I can't unsee it 😊 And don't call me Greg! (Gerry)
Only kidding, except for the fact it really irks me when otherwise awesome layouts have those silly issues.
Similarly, with join lines in brickwork (not your layout), I'm still trying to work out a solution to that one.
Don't worry, I'm a perfectionist that hasn't even reached mediocre on my own layout.

Nice back scene but I think you should have made a curve instead of a angular join.
