Hey friends! I wanted to post this to help all my friends out there who are moving to NYC. This is my experience and my tips! I tried to answer y'all's questions to the best of my ability. Let me know where you're going to college in the fall!
I grew up in northern va which is a really suburban area being right outside of DC and I just finished my freshman year at a big state school about two hours away and I agree with moving away to grow up. I felt I was a fairly independent person before college but moving away makes that sense of independence sooo much stronger and natural. I am so blessed with that opportunity to move away and I feel like moving away from your hometown (even just 2 hours) is so beneficial to growing up ❤️
I want to transfer to a university and live on campus. Even though the two universities I’m interested in are like 30 minutes away from home. I feel like living on campus and having roommates will help me gain more friends and be more independent.
Jacqueline Castor I’d highly recommend just living at home and simply joining clubs and organizations. You’ll save sooo much money. If you want to be independent get a job and pay for your gas or insurance or something but if your parent don’t mind you staying home. Save your money. Student loans are the devil.
Abigail Bonsrah well I’m transferring from a community college and I’ve decided the best for me is to move away and I plan to apply for multiple scholarships. I am technically on scholarship at the community college I attend. Since I will be a transfer student, I won’t be as in debt as if I was starting as a freshman.
Abigail Bonsrah plus I do have a job I’m a work study and I will be paying for insurance and gas soon, being introvert and living at home hasn’t helped me much with making friends
I just wanted to say that I really really like this video it's very different and it was very interesting I don't plan on moving to New York but I still like how it wasn't so artificial like many other youtube videos!
I agree so strongly when you talked about how everyone should move away. I moved away from university and as much as i get home sick and miss my little city, i also see how much i have grown and changed in comparison to those people i know who didn't move away. I think its important to get out of your comfort zone, meet new people and learn to take care of yourself in order to start growing as an adult in this big scary world
I’m going to college in St.Louis in the fall! I would love some more videos on how to live in a busy city on a budget. I value experiences over materials but sometimes experiences are expensive! I would love to here your tips on saving money and still having a good time. Also how did you get comfortable walking around the city alone? Do you do anything in terms of safety precautions when you’re alone so you aren’t stuck in a sketchy situation? I love you’re videos and would also love to see some more faith videos, especially how you incorporate God into your everyday life. Love you! 💕
I so agree with you on why people should move away from home. I just finished my first year of college that’s a two hour drive from home. The first couple of days I got very home sick. I’m an only child and I did come home almost every other weekend. But I still learned sooo sooo much about myself. I also learned a lot about other things. Now, I moved back home for the summer and kind of miss my apartment and my roommates, haha.
Independence can have various meanings with the introduction of different circumstances I believe. Situations are different for everyone lol, just a side note!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who says Eiffel Tower when referring to the empire state😭 I literally referred to it as the Eiffel Tower during my trip in nyc
Just found your channel. And I been watching your channel all day.. I'm a new Yorker born and raised here. And will be starting my first year at Berkeley in the city.. I love your channel especially that you are a Christian. #newsubscriber
I’ve lived in New York my whole life. I honestly hate it. I wish I could have a lone time and I hate the “rollercoaster”. I’m planning on moving to Florida soon, in the middle of nowhere. Lol I’m happy that you could find a way to like it 😂👌🏼
You should try going to Times Square Church! It's amazing! They have a website and an app with their sermons and other things like that on them! God's blessings!💗
On one of your videos a long time ago you wore some black platform sandals from Nine West and I can't find them anywhere online. Do you know where you bought yours or wear I can buy them at?
Hey I’m studying abroad next year in Prague and it will be my first time having a roommate - what’s that like? As a fellow introvert, I’m just wondering how you deal with studying and alone time and just finding the balance of living so closely with another person
I've lived in VA my whole life. The only thing you'll really have to get used to is the changing weather. It'll be 80 & sunny one day then 20 & snowing the next. I don't really have much (if any) advice on the transition, you'll just really have to go with the flow & learn as you go.
Honestly as a new yorker, when you wanna come live here stop aiming for Manhattan and all the gentrified communities. Live in the Bronx. It's the cheaper and better borough. 😎

I've just found out that I was accepted to The King's College!

In terms of furniture, my school has facebook groups where seniors will post about furniture they are selling so see if your school has that option!

Is the monthly metro pass worth it if you’re going to be living in the city?
lol @ "a decent area".....so Brooklyn isn't decent? Queens? Uptown and North Manhattan? What exactly does decent mean? I have a guess...
You should try Youth For Christ as a church community. I think you'll enjoy it. :)
A beautiful city
I'm a New Yorker, but I'm moving to Virginia for college. How do I deal with the transition to a more southern location?
