I purchased a Lava Me 2 a few years ago and then a Me 3 last year. The delay that comes with 2 is the best effect, but it is a blast experimenting with the many effects on 3. They are small, travel-size guitars, with a very big sound, so gorgeous, and that sound is the main reason I play no other guitars. It LEAPS from the instrument and the delay makes it so very full. I like that it doesn’t have the standard acoustic guitar sound. It is bright and exciting - almost between an acoustic and electric, all unplugged. I have changed the battery on my 2. You have to purchase one or two small tools. The preamp is different on the 3. I thought I had an issue and had to pay $120 shipping for its repair. I didn’t like that. I have found their customer service to be stellar although their emails often go to my junk mail, something I didn’t discover for a while. I keep reading in comments that it is expensive. I don’t know the price of other guitars. I believe this is an extraordinary value. Thanks Marco for all you do. I love the baritone uke site too. You are so inspiring! Best to you.

One thing i like about the ME Play is that it still says LAVA ME on the headstock so you're not announcing a, if I may be blunt, cheesy name, that tells evetyone you got the cheap guitar. And while some may say the look does that, imho it's the best looking AND SOUNDING of the bunch. Even the speaker is the best imo. Awesome informative video!
I'm a child of the 60's: I need to know that the battery can be replaced when it goes dead without having to throw out the entire guitar after Christmas morning! I couldn't find any reassurance about this on their web site. After that I can consider what I think of it as a guitar.

Hi Marco. I have been enjoying your lessons and videos since i started using RUclips. The Lava guitar has aways interested me. Your video is very informative. But you do not mention any issues or concerns. Have you experienced anything that buyers should be aware of? I have not been having much luck with guitars lately and still am somewhat reluctant to take the plunge.
Pretty much the only thing the nexg2 has over even the ME3 is the portability. HILAVA and especially the ME4 with the SHARC audio processing chip is leagues better than the nexg2. I would even say the LAVA ME play is better, the onboard effects make up for almost any shortcomings these guitars have.
I have the grey LAVA ME 3 38 inch guitar ands love it but want to cry because I had it less than a year and the Lava 4 is now out. I bought the guitar fore the high tech features so now feel compelled to buy this new model. Really a bummer but at same time I am grateful with the new features and foot pedal. Just wondering if I should stay with 38 inch model or go down to 36 inch. If I did I would go with spruce due to cost. What size Lava 4 Carbon did they send you? And do you think the new software is worth the money because the older software had similar features? Thanks for any advice.

I own a ME3, I like the sound the the portability. I purchased it because of the carbon fiber. I wanted the 36", but the use guitar was advertised wrong and received a 38". Since the 38" fits the the trunk of the Miata, which was one of the reasons for purchase. I am hoping for more training video's on how to used the new interface. Another reason for the purchase was the electronics. Until I watched this video, I was unaware of the pedals or moving the display to my phone. Guessing since it can me moved to a phone, hoping it can move to an iPad. Waiting on video's on compare the ME3 to the ME4, I want to know both the sound differences and durability differences. Is the action different on the ME4 then the ME3. I had the action on my ME3 lowered.
The one thing that always held me back from these is that they don’t have a full scale length. I was disappointed to see that even the 38” Carbon 4 still only has a 24” scale length according to their website. IIRC, their old “Pro” model was their only full scale but very outdated by now and I think had somewhat of a slim body.

A 50-year-old Telecaster is still a Telecaster… But a LAVA? Will it be just kind of electronic waste, not working anymore? How about remodelling and repairing?
They look and sound nice. Great demo. I'd love a spruce top, but I have heard of issues, like the action is too high, and tech problems?. This being fairly new tech. I can see other companies doing similar things and more competition. Not sure about the battery life?.and being future-proof with firmware updates?. No guitar or player is perfect, I hope they sort the issues I mentioned out. I'll not reach for my moth-eaten wallet, to be surgically removed from my pocket just yet. I'll wait to see what the future holds. Exciting times.
Great video! I'm really interested in one for the advanced features, especially the loops and drum tracks. My question is can you start loops from the foot pedals? It seems like you would need an additional couple of buttons for that.

Dude, it’s an acoustic guitar. Your neighbors will not hear you. Just pick up a guitar and play. Which guitar it is doesn’t matter. You have to practice practice and practice some more
You should have told us that you were micing this guitar. I spent a damn grand and the speaker in it is the size of a transistor radio speaker. Damned ridiculous.
I bought the spruce top version and it sounds amazing unplugged and plugged in for such a small guitar. However, I’m not sure if this is just a problem with my guitar. But there seems to be an issue with recording loops with effects. I’ve noticed that delay does not respond well in the looper. It’s like the microphone constantly dubs over and over and causes issues with the recording. I’ve tried plugging it in thinking it’s just a limitation to the microphone and will maybe be resolved plugged in. Same result. Inherently, the looper is flawed in that way. Also distortion is a no go on the acoustic. The volume gets drastically reduced and sounds muddy. I do wish that the built in speaker was more powerful and less prone to feedback when brought to high volumes. Also, does anybody else have a problem with note recognition on ear training. Also, looper seems to not be as accurate as others I’ve tried such as the RC boss pedals or helix from line six.
They don't feel of play like a wood guitar and doesn't have the action or volume unplugged, and it doesn't ring or sound very good unplugged.. waste of money from my experience trying one for 3 weeks, before I returned it. Will stick with Martins
You are obviously missing the beauty of these guitars which is the ability to improve quickly on guitar using the built in looper and backing tracks to compose new ideas and practice different scales over different chord progressions all while sitting alone in the woods or wherever you choose. Of course they are not a Taylor or Martin I own a Taylor but pick up my Lava guitar way more than the Taylor.
People complained they were carbon fiber so they made wooden ones. They complained they didn’t have truss rods so they added them. God forbid a company listens to its customers.
It's a faulty product and service is terrible. I'm only able to contact them through email. It's already been returned once. It's broken again and warranty almost up. Byer Beware

Yes, connect to a Wifi and you can download the new system. It's amazing.
You just have to do the update on you ME 3 and you'll have the Hilava 2.0

The only mic I was using is the panoramic above my head that captures both my voice and the guitar.
