The Mido, Orient, Glycine and Alpina are my favourites out of these. In that order. Ended up getting the Citizen Promaster Titanium BN0200 instead. Unique piece, being a good looking titanium diver with a solar movement (+3s/y). Not many of those around. Prices on the grey market has dropped quite a bit as well, since it launched last spring.
I like the magnified date. It’s a pet peeve of mine when I get a watch and I can’t see the date cuz it’s so small. This was a very informative video. Thanks for posting.
Seiko and Casio make amazing dive watches for dirt cheap. But Lum-Tec was definitely impressive. For about $600 you can get a Tissot Sea Star 1000 Promatic with 80 hours of standby time. Swiss movement, scratch resistant sapphire crystal and a well known name with heritage.
kinda late to the party but this is PERFECT, in college so $1000 is definitely top of the budget for me, perfect price range and I love divers. Great video
Greetings from Southeastern Virginia, USA. Great video with alot of detail and good information. I own the DH 1970 Diver and it's been a great watch. I hope to own a couple others on your list. I really like how you provide links for all of the timepieces you review I think it's a nice touch. Keep the videos coming partner.
Seiko Prospex Automatic - Samurai line. Very detailed blue waffle-pattern dial with Pepsi-style bezel. Great price and gorgeous, yet not homage. Comes in other colors and a PADI edition as well.
Outstanding presentation. Really enjoyed it. Out the brands shown, I would pick the Glycine hands down. Even if cost were not an issue, I might pick the SKX as well. Great review. Thanks.
Nice review, thank you. I'm a big fan of the Glycine Combat Sub, I'm wearing my GL0083 right now, lol. The Glycine is probably the most watch for the money at least in my modest collection. I own Marathon, Oris, Tissot, Certina and several Seiko's.
I agree, the Glycine is great value. I lean towards the GL0088 with the orange chapter ring but I would have a vintage leather brown strap. My interest in watches is growing and a Certina is now in the 'I want' basket :)
Such a pleasure to hear a New Zealand accent around horology circles on YT. As a proud Aussie, I was taken aback by your omission of the local (Auckland,) and well-regarded, Magrette brand.
Hi, thanks for stopping by. And thank you for bringing to my attention the Magrette time pieces. Stunning craftmanship. I didn't know about them. Possibly because when doing my research for a dive watch it was done from my current location in Europe. I see Dion has a another watch brand, Belmoto. Though not divers they are driver inspired.
Just curious why the Marathon GSAR was not included here. The build quality is superior in every way and it is truly a unique time piece that stands out among all others. I'm a big watch guy and the GSAR with a rubber strap comes in at this price point...................again, just curious.................Thanks..........
Hey Rob, thanks for mentioning the GSAR. Looks like I will do an update to this video with the focus on watches mentioned here in the comments. The GSAR is certainly on the list now, nice dive watch and what looks to be great value for the money. Cheers
What you want is a Vostok Amphibian cheap as chips and I'm getting plus 12 secs a day from mine. Had mine for two years now and can't fault it, the bezel is bi directional no clicks but at depth it tightens up don't let the bezel put you off. Had two 007 the Japanese one was better and the bezel aligned perfectly sadly had it stolen via the post, as it was in transit for a service, this was replaced and ended up with the non Japanese version. I found this had poor finish and the bezel didn't align very well neither 007 very accurate plus 40 seconds plus per day the crown screw has also given up on me and it sits in a draw now. The Dan Henry or the Alpina would be on my top to buy list .... Avoid the 007 unless J version.
Thanks for the info on the 007 models. I really like the Dan Henry, though I'm not sure it would make a good every day wearer for me. As an occasional watch it would be ideal. If you like the DH, check out the Belmoto range. Belmoto.gt
Hi Siam Watch Addict, I have Helm watches on my radar. My attention was drawn to the Khuraburi a few months ago. I just checked their website and all out of stock.
Just one thing, absolutly all list of dive watches must in the Bostok Amphibia, 200m ssteel, 19800bph (old school jajaja) automatic and 70$. I own another others better but the bostok is on my wrist for a year I owned some of the video shows (seiko, Glycine OMG a lot of watch for the money) but i mess Citizen NY00....040 series. For arround 200$.
I had a hard time finding an automatic so i ended up purchasing a citizen promaster aqualand . I'll be looking again soon I love my watch but I want a second....perhaps one from this list!! Thanks
Hi Francisco, of the ten watches I looked at here the Alpina is the most aesthetically pleasing and would suit the size of my wrist. But as an everyday wearer for my lifestyle, it would not be good. The Seiko SKX007, while a little dated is best suited and can be cosmetically modified to suit my tastes.
I’ll keep my citizen eco drive pro master diver quartz my dive watches must be quartz with a MINERAL crystal more prone to scratch less prone to shatter than saphire
Hi Dylan, a bezel is the ring on top of the face on a dive watch. It often has numbers on top and a serrated style edge. It also rotates counter-clockwise. Hope that helps :)
Actually he made fun of you.. It's not beezil, its bezel.. You pronounced it totally wrong. You should be careful about these things if you want to have a serious watch channel. Half of the people will make fun of you and the other half will ignore you. Maybe down under you say beezil but its generally known throughout the western world as bezel..Try to find how its pronounce on YT.. Also be very careful with watch brand pronunciation. For example Jaeger leCoultre, Hublot, etc... Cheers man.
Thanks for the reply. I know. I'm used to digs about my pronunciations. When in Australia three words get me all the time - chips, six and dance. I currently live in Eastern Europe and the letters here have different sounds - i has an ee sound and there is no sound for th it is shortened to t. The three watch brands mentioned, no problem, European pronunciation. Cheers.
Casio makes a great dive watch for $40. Stainless, water proof to 330 ft and can't be destroyed. If you spend more, you're looking for someone to notice that you spent more.
Hi Will, I like a few Casio dive watches and I agree they are tough. But Casio has quartz movement and I was looking for automatic movement. Citizen also do some great divers.
Hi Patrick. Nice watch, however it falls below the criteria of what I like in a dive watch - it is only 100m rated. On the other hand it does well in the aesthetics department as it easily doubles as a casual or business wear piece.
Victorinox Dive Master 500 is a nice watch but when looking for a dive watch it had to be at least 200m water resistant. The dive master 500 is only 50m. If I have the wrong model you are referring to please let me know :)
Have you seen the Alpnach Mechanical watches by Victorinox? Non chronograph but a very nice sport watch. Check out the 241686 - red strap and red highlights on the chapter ring.
Sorry mate you make me howl when you pronounce bezel to rhyme with weasel. You must b the only bloke on the planet to do it that way. No offence intended.
@@alansmith8837 it's blazing saddles down here in Lisbon Alan. I'd trade you for the fresh Sheffield weather any day. I'm originally from the West States though 😃 How's yer beeezel? Hahahaha I can't stop hearing beeezel.
All garbage. Save up some more and get a Tudor Black Bay or an Omega Speedmaster Professional. If you can’t afford those then an Oris Diver 65 or a Seiko with a 6R15 movement like the 62 Mas re issue. Those are around US$700 and better than any of the garbage listed here.
The Speedmaster is a chronograph, not a dive watch. The Tudor is an overpriced marketing darling living off of the prestige of it's even more overpriced big brother. The Oris isn't actually ISO certified, although I agree that it's a sweet looking watch. And the 7s26 movement may not be real fancy but mine has been working just fine for about 15 years with no service. Not everyone likes the same thing.
Thanks for the reviews, some I hadn't heard of but like them, I would have had some others in there. I wear a lot of DEEP BLUE Diver watches most are 500m to 3000m WR.
This was a fantastic video with just the perfect details and visuals. Really appreciate it and hope you make more!
Thanks Sam.
Nice list! So good to see and get introduced to some different time pieces than is typical on a lot of RUclips videos... Thank you for your work.

Yup, hands down. Have a glo242 bronze. +2 sec. Continously. Wears wonderful.
Skx 007 ❤️🔥
Even if I 've got a different opinion for your watches choice, your presentation is excellent 👌
Excellent video! You made clear your personal criteria very well (they are the same as mine). Great detail about the movements and key features too.
Thanks. There is a lot of choices for an automatic dive watch, making a decision for only one is not easy 😃
Nice review, thank you. I'm a big fan of the Glycine Combat Sub, I'm wearing my GL0083 right now, lol. The Glycine is probably the most watch for the money at least in my modest collection. I own Marathon, Oris, Tissot, Certina and several Seiko's.

Do you see a big difference between Oris and certina ?
Comprehensively put together.. But I would have put Victorinox professional diver... Upon the list...
Can you do a list on field watches please
THAT was an informative review. Thank you.
Great break down. I really like that Dan Henry!
Most informative and enjoyable - thank you.
Very informative - good job.
Combat sub. Have a glo242 bronze. +2 sec. Per day. Great watch. Wears really well.
Bro, you must be a Kiwi. Sweet as. Keen to catch up when I come back home and yarn watches. Cheers
Excellent video. Just what I needed to help me make a decision.

What a great review! Keep Them Coming!
I’m personally a big fan of the Certina DS Action Diver for the money.
Nice looking divers. I see Jomashop has some good deals on them right now.
Very well explained nice one 😊
My pick is Glycine
I'll stick to my Vostok amphibian watch. Its robust, tough, unique, and cheap.
Legend
Great video.
Great review
Thanks 😀
Some good choices in your top ten..However The Helm Vanutau At 190USD is a must... Hope I spelt that right..

Search by movement and select automatic
Yes just go for the Marathon GSAR or a humble Seiko turtle will do...can't seem to find the Marathon in Europe, however.
You said the alpine , had there own movement, but this wasn’t one of them ,? So who’s movement are they using ? Thanks Shane uk
Selica 200
F. Rob Selita SW200
Thank you bro it’s an awesome review but the only trouble is now I can’t decide which one. Cheers mate
I know the problem. I now have a small list of watches I want :)
Where is Helm Vanutaou or Khuraburi? 300USD, sapphire Crystal, sapphire bezel, 300m, huge lume, hacking...
Hi, the two Helm watches are great looking. I really like the KHURABURI - Added to my list of micro brands
I ordered Khuraburi yesterday :)
Thank you for the video! Glycine- a very cool watch. Swiss its swiss
That alpine!!!
What about the tissot seastar 1000 power 80??
Excellent review Sir. I have Glycine combat sub, Seiko SKX0013 and Mido. All are nice watches.
What is your favorite watch of this review?
Hi Francisco, of the ten watches I looked at here the Alpina is the most aesthetically pleasing and would suit the size of my wrist. But as an everyday wearer for my lifestyle, it would not be good. It was a little joke, but not a dig at all. Just a bit of fun and light ribbing. I hope I didn't offend.
Hey Dylan, no offense taken :)
Went marathon gsar for tritium lume. It's fantastic.
Alpina plastic rotor?
The Stuhrling lugs are a big fail IMHO... Otherwise it's pretty impressive.
I owed a Stuhrling for about 3 years, wore it every Monday-Friday, and what a POS. Replacing it with a Seiko was the best decision I ever made
Vostok Amphibias too small for you at 40mm?
Where Are Seiko Sumo and Hamilton diver?
What about vostok watches??
سلام،چطور میشه خریداری کرد؟
Casio makes a great dive watch for $40. Stainless, water proof to 330 ft and can't be destroyed. If you spend more, you're looking for someone to notice that you spent more.
Hi Will, I like a few Casio dive watches and I agree they are tough. But Casio has quartz movement and I was looking for automatic movement. Citizen also do some great divers.
you make a great point, i do own a Seiko that's 'automatic movement' and pretty much indestructible.
What are your thoughts on the Hamilton Seaview?
Hi Patrick. Nice watch, however it falls below the criteria of what I like in a dive watch - it is only 100m rated. On the other hand it does well in the aesthetics department as it easily doubles as a casual or business wear piece.
Thank you for you reply. I appreciate it very much. I don't dive, but love the larger numbers and loom. Older eyes - Lol
Seagull ocean star?
I have an Orient watch
I think Orient make a great dive watch :)
Under a 1000 us dollars, without seiko shogun? Come on.
Damn... that beezeal tho
If I will be cast away. I will choose KDX007...
Top
Squale?!?!
I surprised not to see a Hamilton on this list
James I like the Hamilton watches, but the one I like is not a dive watch per se. It's the Pilot automatic.
Steinhart Germany quite good as well
The "beezele"
"Beezul."
I would not pick an invite over the seiko sbdc053 which to be honest would be my 1 watch under 1000 and I'd not bother with the other 9 😁
Right mate "beeeezel 😂😆 😜
good review thankyou 9/7/2018
It's Miyota, not Miyoto...
Just one question mate have you been drunk making it ?
what about Certina?
Certina makes a nice dive watch. I personally like the model with the blue dial face and bezel.
The Invicta is superior to the Seiko and the Stuhrling
Stuhrling yes
What about Victorinox 500 m?
Victorinox Dive Master 500 is a nice watch but when looking for a dive watch it had to be at least 200m water resistant. The dive master 500 is only 50m. If I have the wrong model you are referring to please let me know :)
Victorinox 241422 ( 300m)

Nothing like a kiwi accent
Can you do it in English?
È un leggerissimo accento neozelandese...
Seiko all the way.
Vostok scuba should have been included.
The only decent watches are the Mido and the Alpina. The others are garbage, especially the homages.
Clueless fuckwit
Thanks, buddy. Great response. That really added value to the discussion.
Hail the mighty BEEZLE
You lost me when you went 42-44. Too big for average to small wrists. I only believe in larger divers when I'm fact you dive with them.
?????
you lost me at Invicta LMAO! and whats wrong with quartz? some people like to be at work on time
Beezull
