  • This is video #4 in the series which documents my journey through corrective surgery for Scheuermanns Disease. In this video, I go through my experience in the hospital and basically everything through the first 2 weeks post surgery. Spoiler Alert! I'm crushing it.
    After my amazing surgical success, and considering I am a certified Health Coach specializing in nutrition, exercise, and mindset- I am now hoping to primarily work with people through there pre and post surgical experience. My goal is to focus on those things I am an expert in (nutrition, movement, mindset) that set up the body to heal at an optimal level around the surgery. If interested in working together, or you just have a question, feel free to contact me at healwithmike@gmail.com OR mike@healwithmike.com and I will answer at my earliest convenience.
    **Side Note: This was my 5th surgery, 3rd on my spine, and certainly the most invasive and biggest operation. However it has been the easiest recovery, by far! I feel like that is because the way I prepared myself for this one (I did not have the knowledge on how to prepare body at an elite level for prior operations). Reach out to me- i know I can help :)

    I'm 28 and was diagnosed with scheurmanns when I was around 14. I've lived with severe pain now for 10 years and more recently a lot of chest pain and trouble breathing. I hope to one day be free of this shit

    This video was fantastic for so many reasons - your honesty and transparency walking through the steps of surgery and post surgery, the balance of information and emotion, and the sheer optimism you provide for your situation and others that might be going through a similar journey. Thank you for sharing Mike - you are fantastic!! Keep healing well and I’m excited to see your strength continue!!

    Fantastic video!!! I agree totally about the whole expectations thing, and you have convinced me, I made an appointment to see my doc about my Scheuermann's Kyphosis to see if I have any options (aka... hope). I am supposed to be 5'2 but I stand at 4'10. Quit growing one year before it was caught, so 40 years later, here I am. Kudos to you, be well!!

    Hey Michael, thank You for leaving such a detailed vídeo about Your post op experience. I'm about to get a 11 level fusion myself and thou i'm completely convinced to get the surgery, it scares the hell out of me hahaha. It's not easy to get videos of detailed Post op experiences so thanks a Lot. Man, i'm a doctor myself and I can't imagine being able to get MJ in My Center haha, would love that. What can of surgery did You get? Only posterior approach or anterior-posterior? Hope You keep doing great man!

    Hey bro i hope your are fine i also have this disease and i am 19 years old i just wanted to know if it is possible for me to do this surgery?

    • @michaelfiddle214
      @michaelfiddle214  3 года назад +1

      Very possible! Meet with a spine surgeon local to you and inquire about it. You have to be your own advocate if you are struggling w pain, and find a doctor who knows the disease

      @@michaelfiddle214 so there is no age limitation right? I can do this whenever i want in my life?

    • @michaelfiddle214
      @michaelfiddle214  3 года назад

      @@gabrielmalliakas6435 different doctors have different opinions on age and it depends on your curve and images. I know people who have had it done in their 50s, and know others in their 30s who were told not to because of age. The younger the better for your recovery. Talk to a doctor about your specific case and your reasons for and against surgery

    Do u feel it was worth it and can u run and feel as athletic before

    • @michaelfiddle214
      @michaelfiddle214  3 года назад +2

      Worth it- 1000000%
      I am still in the early stages of recovery and have not been given the clearance to run because of the pounding to the fusion which hasn’t set yet. I’ve jogged a few steps on the snow so it was soft landing, and it feels good!
      I am working out and going to the gym- I can do 5 miles on a bike fairly easily already and can lift but not too heavy yet. I feel fantastic when I do these things, physically and a huge boost of confidence mentally too
