Yep, he constantly reinforces that his streams are a place to chill out, watching some DBD, enjoy the time spent there, and not drag the mood down by talking about politics or celebrity gossip or anything that could start a fight, just chill out and watching this Otz-personator play DBD.

I've been enjoying the Deathslinger despite the nerfs and have to agree that the iridescent coin buff feels amazing. But I still think they should give him a move speed compensation buff for the terror radius nerf... He remains one of the most fun killers without really being that powerful.
The delay between when you finish the aiming animation and when you can fire did nothing less than make the killer feel like poop to play. As a former slinger main, Id much rather they remove that and just decrease the speed of his aiming animation by the same amount of time as the delay. That way, regardless how long his gun takes to ready, you know you can fire the second youve lined up the sights.

As nice as his addon improvements are, he's still completely incapable of pressuring multiple people with his power, has an extreme lack of mobility, and he feels on par with Hillbilly for being a character that just... has another similar Killer do just about everything better at this point.

@@amberdragon895 Pinhead serves slinger’s role better (although I’d say he’s got a much higher skill ceiling) because he has viral map pressure with the chain hunt, shuts down loops almost as well with his solo chain. But cenobite misses out on stupid long range once the chain hunt stops. Huntress is the other one; Long range, small terror radius, can deal damage without closing gaps, needs to reload but reloading every 5+ hatchets is different than every single shot.
I always had the idea that they could give Deathslinger a totally new iridescent add-on that went something like this: *Prototyped Double Barrels* ============================== Two heavy barrels that were once fitted onto the originally designed Redeemer. The prototyped barrels aren’t easily wielded by most, but Caleb’s unrelenting rage motivates him to endure the weight. -The Redeemer can fire twice before reloading -Movement speed is decreased by 5% while The Redeemer is loaded -Reload speed is increased by 1.5 seconds ============================== I’d give this add-on a custom animation for reloading two rounds into The Redeemer. I'd say replace the movement speed debuff with a longer stun/weap cool down after a chain hit/miss to prevent killers from simply shooting the surv again right after recovering, as well as preventing frustrating loops that are enabled by making an already slow killer even slower

Slinger was able to quick scope because of how slow he does everything like huntress is hatchet hit hook while slinger is shoot reel hit wipe reload chase shoot reel hit wipe reload carry hook
and the entitled survs that got him nerfed like this couldn't care less now. The ones that used to whine and cry at not being about to counterplay, are now smoking slingers, and going "lol Git gud, scrub" in the AGC
Your one shot in this video actually reminded me. There’s actually a glitch with Dead Hard and The Spear. I’ve had it happen a few times, when I wasn’t streaming, where if you fire and someone Dead Hards at the right moment, the chain will latch onto them. The reeling bar turns yellow and snaps twice as fast as normal. I’ve yet to be able to catch it on a recording and haven’t been able to recreate it in customs, but it’s a weird one for sure. 💀
Commenting pretty early, but just wanted to say that giving killer more easy ways to injure survivors has honestly been getring less and less viable. It's a bit better with slinger and the like because he gives Deep Wound, but otherwise, all the healing stuff recently makes it pretty hard to sctually get value
If something don't instadowns now a days, sometimes, it's useless. You deep wound someone with legion and go to hit another survivor to use the power like it's intented to be used, the survivor mends themselves and then turbo heals with a totem and a green medkit

Think of the S-tier killers and notice how they don't have instadown abilities; instead, they have reliable damage and good follow-up (exception maybe being Hag since she compensates using map pressure). Nurse, spirit, and blight make the movement speed bonus from getting injured and the distance made from DS significantly worse because they can immediately catch-up and down them. This and their ability to maneuver the map make them great killers.
he's really weak compared to other killers, like bird lady. she's fast, and doesn't just have one shot that punishes her like it does with deathslinger. if they don't want quickscope back, at least give him his movement speed that he requires, or the small terror radius. he got nerfed to the ground and now just feels wonky to play.

The Artist’s ranged attacks are in no way comparable to Deathslinger’s ranged attacks. Deathslinger uses his power mid-chase to reliably get hits. Artist requires much more setup. Putting Deathslinger at 115 would make him really annoying to go against. BHVR should just give him a lullaby like Huntress and Trickster.

@@rickkcir2151 My one problem with this is the fact Deathslinger's whole gimmick is that he is a man hunter. That's why when he was released his terror radius was only 24 and had add-ons that would make it even smaller. He's supposed to be a mix of a stealth and ranged killer. Right now he needs a perk and both addons to even do his sneaky stuff so it's been kinda gutted.

He is also the only killer with a 32m TR that doesn't move at 115. Which is really weird, most killer are either 24m 110 or 32 115.
whilst these addons are a fun changer, his basekit got nerfed too hard for me to enjoy him anymore, I sunk well over 50 hours on slinger and its sad he isnt really viable anymore

In game 2 chat was talking about who knows how many killers laugh. I believe 5: Deathslinger, Clown, Trickster, Doc, and Freddy. For now anyways. I guess huntress does but it isn't reactionary it's more part of her song
I honestly think the Deathslinger playstyle is still going to remain the same, just a few changes. Tinkerer will be more common than Monitor and ADS around corners will be the new instashot. I think that iridescent coin is very nice, but also very situational, since you'll be getting a lot of instances where you're close enough for the M1 and can snipe them after the hit since they won't make too much distance, especially with STBFL, but it's nice for when you DON'T get into that situation. Ultimately, not the worst change in my opinion, but I do agree that he should have gotten more in compensation.

I was a Deathslinger main before the nerf, i feel that's impossible to play with him. 32M terror radius + nerfed aim it's too much for no compesation, but seems like these add-ons can do some damage now.
I recommend running the Warden's Keys + Iri Coin combo if you want to play New Deathslinger and have a fair shot. The new Iri Coin makes him significantly more efficient than if you aren't running it; this is both good and bad, as it is exciting that he has a really good add-on, but it is bad because I feel he is now reliant on it.
honestly, after his change, i haven’t played him at all. i played one game and just not being able to shoot as soon as you aim is devastating. its pretty sad i’d say, considering i just got him during the anniversary :(
Now that Deathslinger has a MUCH weaker chase ability, and has to deal with being 110%, BHVR may have made the new Trapper now that our boi Evan got buffed hard. Other 110% Killers usually have something to help them tremendously when it comes to making up for the speed decrease. Hag is Trapper on steroids, Spirit is fast, has great anti-loop and can mindgame pretty nicely, Trickster has an AR-15, Huntress can down you from any where open, Hillbilly (when using the purple add-on) has an insane Chainsaw, etc. Point is, Deathslinger has NOTHING strong going for him. He used to be so good, he could compete with Huntress. Now that he got his 500kg on his gun and can't aim it as fast as he used to, its painful to play him.
Well one sort of niche advantage is no lullaby, so if you can lower his TR(M&A & ADS addons) or make him undetectable, he can get stealthy hits from a range. Its a shame the nerft his TR too, seems like that wanted to make it harder but not impossible, still very annoying tho
Otz, I have a question about the terror radius. Since it got significantly increased for Deathslinger, wouldn't it make any sense to run Distressing to increase it even further, so survivors would hear it so often, that they will start to ignore it? Maybe on small maps like the Silent Hill's School or the Game? P.S. I'd like to hear from anyone, not just from one my fav streamers
I just run M&A, it puts it back to his old range, & if your in chase alot can have a similar effect as distressing, his TR & quickscope were his big nerfs, but I've never had fast reactions. I focus alot on his stealth which imo is what he has over other ranged killers
That second game reminds me of a game I played just last night: 4 gens done in the first four minutes of the game with no toolboxes or Prove Thyself. And I had two downs in the first 90 seconds.

Sniping for insta-downs honestly feels like it should be base kit, it's so exciting and forces survivors to respect his line of sight a lot more. Also give more incentive to actually use body blocking counter play, cool teamwork stuff. Love it all.
The nerf was because basically slinger mains would just scope in, force the survivor to dodge then never shoot, which would just let you zone for free, which the nerf still somehow doesn't really address, but that's besides the point. The issue was that it was more profitable to just ADS a bunch to zone then never shoot, and it came at no penalty to Slinger, whereas other killers that can zone effectively have a significant penalty to their zoning ability, Huntress slows down even more, Billy slows down revving the chainsaw, Trickster needs multiple knives, Pyramid Head slows down and needs additional time for the trail, heck even the artist slows down when she's using her power, and the new ADS adjustment was designed to make it so any speed penalties would actually be applied
for anyone curious, no you cannot dead hard after a deathslinger chain under any circumstances. until his swing after reeling ends, there is no prompt to dead hard, despite having control of your character.
I mean you can try and justify it all you want, but they gutted him literally because bad survivors had baby rage and didnt know how to play against him. There were killers who were MUCH stronger than him and just because survivors couldn't play properly around loops and dodge his chain (which has a significant travel time) he must be nerfed.
Im pretty sure that wasnt the reason for his nerfs. It was because he could sneak up with his terror radius and get hits before surviviours could reasonably react to it. But yeah, they really overdid it, just bigger tr would be fine
I still really like playing against him, I still find it annoying getting shot thru a window and get downed but other than that, slinger is a lot harder to play imo
Why not give Deathslinger back his ADS but make the reeling interaction more dynamic? I mean, he already wastes time doing that, that's kinda his main thing. It was a skillful part of Slinger's kit, and good Slingers knew how to reel to maximize their injuring potential. You could: Increase chain durability tremendously but make the chain start out with more wear on closer shots. The Slinger should be able to reel in a max range shot, even WITH several obstacles, but a standard loop shot may have only 2/3 or even less of the current durability. Allow more time for the survivor to adjust their position for shorter shots (you can animate the chain going limp on shorter shots and the Slinger has to fiddle around with the gun to pull it taut), meaning that a purely reactive window shot allows the survivor to move into a position where the chain breaks faster (this combined with the above makes it harder for Slinger to capitalize if he doesn't reel well enough) but a more skilled, preemptive read shot gives the Slinger the advantage as the surv is stuck in vaulting animation. Now the Deathslinger is still unique with his projectile but the reeling interaction allows for a more two sided battle between the survivor and killer (except for really skilled long range shots of course, which clearly should be rewarded). And for the love of all that's holy, give him back his stealth.
Did they change rusty chains? It might be good to pair with the cigar box to get quicker chain break and recovery. It sounds weird but maybe it will do better then both recovery add-ons because you start recovering sooner as opposed to recovering faster?

So in a sense I want to say that evenly is the better card, depending on the deck though. It's great for board breaking or baiting a negate. But with no battle phase you'll have to as you said do somthing productive in MP 2 otherwise you lose. And again like you said if your playing an OTK deck you cant kill them on that turn. So in that case the better card for your deck is the lightning storm. And you will still have a battle phase. But if your deck can set up interruptions after the evenly matched that might be the better card 4 your deck. I think you hit the nail on the head with this one Yacine! They are both amazing cards either way!💪
At 26:28, is that Deathslinger's prestige weapon? Do all killer prestige weapons look like that where they have like blood veins, similar to the artist's prestige weapon? On a proper chain reel, it's pretty much impossible to DH after the chain breaks for a few moments. It actually doesn't even prompt you to use it until maybe .25 seconds after his lunge already hit.
I started playing this just two weeks ago , I try to play like otz but I get lost sometimes, still a noob when it comes to the maps , a lot of survivors-said I was prettygood so not bad for just under 10 hrs game play , mind you I was watching otz for years , my first game was like I played for months 😀 thanx again otz , Trapper all the way bro my fav killer 💪🏽

I think it’s due to the coloring, the mist is still black on the new map so it’s more prominent on the yellow sand

Mist can only be maxed at 3. Brown is 1, yellow is 2, purple is 3. Bringing four purples has the same effect as one purple or three browns, etc.

@@cris5555 It is a REALLY valid take imo. I agree. Think of the S-tier killers and notice how they don't have instadown abilities; instead, they have reliable damage and good follow-up (exception maybe being Hag since she compensates using map pressure).
Nurse, spirit, and blight make the movement speed bonus from getting injured and the distance made from DS significantly worse because they can immediately catch-up and down them. This and their ability to maneuver the map make them great killers.

he's really weak compared to other killers, like bird lady. she's fast, and doesn't just have one shot that punishes her like it does with deathslinger. if they don't want quickscope back, at least give him his movement speed that he requires, or the small terror radius. he got nerfed to the ground and now just feels wonky to play.

Hey Otz, what would you think about deathslinger being a normal movement speed killer, seeing as he got nerfed and can't just aim and unaim lightning fast, the only reason I think he'd be fine is cause the artist is normal movement speed

The Artist’s ranged attacks are in no way comparable to Deathslinger’s ranged attacks. Deathslinger uses his power mid-chase to reliably get hits. Artist requires much more setup. Putting Deathslinger at 115 would make him really annoying to go against. BHVR should just give him a lullaby like Huntress and Trickster.
@@rickkcir2151 bhvr should revert him and then re-address is problems properly ; they nerfed everything but the one unfair problem he had (zoning for free). Also yes, a lullaby would be better than a 32m terror radius
@@rickkcir2151 My one problem with this is the fact Deathslinger's whole gimmick is that he is a man hunter. That's why when he was released his terror radius was only 24 and had add-ons that would make it even smaller. He's supposed to be a mix of a stealth and ranged killer. Right now he needs a perk and both addons to even do his sneaky stuff so it's been kinda gutted.
@@nathancurnutt8074 you're the only person I've seen refer to him as a range stealth hybrid, I agree with you, but I don't see people bring this up, & its why the TR change bugged me the most, now I have to run things like M&A to do that. He is also the only killer with a 32m TR that doesn't move at 115. Which is really weird, most killer are either 24m 110 or 32 115.
Dead hard is totally disabled after being speared, this effect lasts for as long as you are swinging, even if you use coup de grâce
whilst these addons are a fun changer, his basekit got nerfed too hard for me to enjoy him anymore, I sunk well over 50 hours on slinger and its sad he isnt really viable anymore

This is a really nice video, as I took a break from dbd prior to Deathslinger nerf, and came back and was very disappointed with him being weaker. Nice to know how to use his add-ons a bit better
In game 2 chat was talking about who knows how many killers laugh. I believe 5: Deathslinger, Clown, Trickster, Doc, and Freddy. For now anyways. I guess huntress does but it isn't reactionary it's more part of her song

I honestly think the Deathslinger playstyle is still going to remain the same, just a few changes. Tinkerer will be more common than Monitor and ADS around corners will be the new instashot. I think that iridescent coin is very nice, but also very situational, since you'll be getting a lot of instances where you're close enough for the M1 and can snipe them after the hit since they won't make too much distance, especially with STBFL, but it's nice for when you DON'T get into that situation. Ultimately, not the worst change in my opinion, but I do agree that he should have gotten more in compensation.

I recommend running the Warden's Keys + Iri Coin combo if you want to play New Deathslinger and have a fair shot. The new Iri Coin makes him significantly more efficient than if you aren't running it; this is both good and bad, as it is exciting that he has a really good add-on, but it is bad because I feel he is now reliant on it.
As a deathslinger main the new add-ons are nice and the double iridescent add-ons are actually good together now
honestly, after his change, i haven’t played him at all. i played one game and just not being able to shoot as soon as you aim is devastating. its pretty sad i’d say, considering i just got him during the anniversary :(
Now that Deathslinger has a MUCH weaker chase ability, and has to deal with being 110%, BHVR may have made the new Trapper now that our boi Evan got buffed hard. Other 110% Killers usually have something to help them tremendously when it comes to making up for the speed decrease. Hag is Trapper on steroids, Spirit is fast, has great anti-loop and can mindgame pretty nicely, Trickster has an AR-15, Huntress can down you from any where open, Hillbilly (when using the purple add-on) has an insane Chainsaw, etc.
Point is, Deathslinger has NOTHING strong going for him. He used to be so good, he could compete with Huntress. Now that he got his 500kg on his gun and can't aim it as fast as he used to, its painful to play him.

Well one sort of niche advantage is no lullaby, so if you can lower his TR(M&A & ADS addons) or make him undetectable, he can get stealthy hits from a range. Its a shame the nerft his TR too, seems like that wanted to make it harder but not impossible, still very annoying tho
Otz, I have a question about the terror radius. Since it got significantly increased for Deathslinger, wouldn't it make any sense to run Distressing to increase it even further, so survivors would hear it so often, that they will start to ignore it? Maybe on small maps like the Silent Hill's School or the Game?

I just run M&A, it puts it back to his old range, & if your in chase alot can have a similar effect as distressing, his TR & quickscope were his big nerfs, but I've never had fast reactions. I focus alot on his stealth which imo is what he has over other ranged killers

Sniping for insta-downs honestly feels like it should be base kit, it's so exciting and forces survivors to respect his line of sight a lot more. Also give more incentive to actually use body blocking counter play, cool teamwork stuff. Love it all.

Some folks had to complain. Expect a nerf to every killer at this point
The nerf was because basically slinger mains would just scope in, force the survivor to dodge then never shoot, which would just let you zone for free, which the nerf still somehow doesn't really address, but that's besides the point. The issue was that it was more profitable to just ADS a bunch to zone then never shoot, and it came at no penalty to Slinger, whereas other killers that can zone effectively have a significant penalty to their zoning ability, Huntress slows down even more, Billy slows down revving the chainsaw, Trickster needs multiple knives, Pyramid Head slows down and needs additional time for the trail, heck even the artist slows down when she's using her power, and the new ADS adjustment was designed to make it so any speed penalties would actually be applied

for anyone curious, no you cannot dead hard after a deathslinger chain under any circumstances. until his swing after reeling ends, there is no prompt to dead hard, despite having control of your character.

I mean you can try and justify it all you want, but they gutted him literally because bad survivors had baby rage and didnt know how to play against him. There were killers who were MUCH stronger than him and just because survivors couldn't play properly around loops and dodge his chain (which has a significant travel time) he must be nerfed.
Im pretty sure that wasnt the reason for his nerfs. It was because he could sneak up with his terror radius and get hits before surviviours could reasonably react to it. But yeah, they really overdid it, just bigger tr would be fine
I still really like playing against him, I still find it annoying getting shot thru a window and get downed but other than that, slinger is a lot harder to play imo
Now the artist is getting this as well.
Why not give Deathslinger back his ADS but make the reeling interaction more dynamic? I mean, he already wastes time doing that, that's kinda his main thing. It was a skillful part of Slinger's kit, and good Slingers knew how to reel to maximize their injuring potential. You could:
Increase chain durability tremendously but make the chain start out with more wear on closer shots. The Slinger should be able to reel in a max range shot, even WITH several obstacles, but a standard loop shot may have only 2/3 or even less of the current durability.
Allow more time for the survivor to adjust their position for shorter shots (you can animate the chain going limp on shorter shots and the Slinger has to fiddle around with the gun to pull it taut), meaning that a purely reactive window shot allows the survivor to move into a position where the chain breaks faster (this combined with the above makes it harder for Slinger to capitalize if he doesn't reel well enough) but a more skilled, preemptive read shot gives the Slinger the advantage as the surv is stuck in vaulting animation.
Now the Deathslinger is still unique with his projectile but the reeling interaction allows for a more two sided battle between the survivor and killer (except for really skilled long range shots of course, which clearly should be rewarded). And for the love of all that's holy, give him back his stealth.
I love nurses on Deathslinger, you can line up the shot before the survivors see you and instantly shoot the moment you turn the corner

Did they change rusty chains? It might be good to pair with the cigar box to get quicker chain break and recovery. It sounds weird but maybe it will do better then both recovery add-ons because you start recovering sooner as opposed to recovering faster?

So in a sense I want to say that evenly is the better card, depending on the deck though. It's great for board breaking or baiting a negate. But with no battle phase you'll have to as you said do somthing productive in MP 2 otherwise you lose.
And again like you said if your playing an OTK deck you cant kill them on that turn. So in that case the better card for your deck is the lightning storm. And you will still have a battle phase.
But if your deck can set up interruptions after the evenly matched that might be the better card 4 your deck.

On a proper chain reel, it's pretty much impossible to DH after the chain breaks for a few moments. It actually doesn't even prompt you to use it until maybe .25 seconds after his lunge already hit.
