    Ridenow is awesome. Cheaper than butyl and only one third of the weight! Durability has been great so far for me, had a piece of glass penetrated the tyre and only caused a slow leak. Patchable with normal tyre patch too.

      Good to know, as I'm thinking of ordering a few to test out 👍
      When you say a 'normal tyre patch' do you mean a pre-glued patch like ParkTool GP2... or an old school Black/Orange patch with vulcanizing rubber solution ??

    • @jetthepanda
      @jetthepanda Год назад +4

      @@DerekGreen123 both of those options will work. But I've found it best to use a dead tpu tube, cut it up and use the patch glue to make your own diy patches.

    Cyclami tubes are great. They do a lighter version too. Both work well and the metal valve is so much more reliable and airtight then the plastic ones.
    2 tpu tubes on your wheels and 2 in your back pocket. That's 1/2 a kg in weight. Its the most cost effective weight reduction you can make. Switched back from tubeless on the road to these as tubeless was a faff and too many fails.

    The valve on my two RideNow tubes jammed when I inflated the tire. Now unusable and I have to change them. I'm going to try the Cyclami.

    Impressive that the cyclami isnt weighing that much more for metal. But i suspect having a slight imbalance with that metal which should not occur on the ridenow

    Can I use one of these on a 35c gravel tire with disc brakes? I'm running 35-45(or something) and they seem to be way to big. They are ok though, no issues at all. You just have to install them carefully.

    2 Ridenow exploded on my bike ! one during an ascent (I'd be on hospital for long if it happens on a descent), another one, while I was sitting nearby and drinking a beer (there was no sun!). there are some weaker spots at tube joints which expand/get thinner. I'll never put them again !
    no probs with Tubolito though. (my mate rides Cyclami without problems as well)

    • @MrTeff999
      @MrTeff999 6 месяцев назад +1

      The only way a tube can explode is if the bead of the tire is not properly seated. (Think of it as an abdominal hernia caused, not by weak intestines, but by a failure of the abdominal muscles to hold everything inside.) This is usually because a bit of tube gets stuck between the bead of the tire and the bead of the rim during installation. If you doubt this, consider that a tubeless tire has no tube and yet holds high pressure as long as the beads are compatible and properly seated.

    • @razorree
      @razorree 6 месяцев назад

      @@MrTeff999 it happened with 3 !! ridenow TPU tubes, so it's not one time accident, these tubes are just faulty. and it exploded just next to the valve - so no way that part was pinched by tire.

    • @MrTeff999
      @MrTeff999 5 месяцев назад +1

      If the failure was at the connection of the valve to the body of the tube, I can image a rapid loss of pressure, though not a bang. Such a failure would indicate poor quality control. But if the tube popped out through between the beads, it's not the tube's fault. All the tube does is seal air inside the tire -- same as tire sealant on a tubeless setup. These TPU tubes are thin, so can easily get pinched without being obvious. The way to ensure this doesn't happen is to pump the tire up to around 20 psi, then use your thumbs to push the bead of the tire away from the bead of the wheel and inspect all the way around both sides. Also (prior to installation) inspect the rim's valve hole for burs and sharp edges, since those can cut the tube. And one more thing: if the valve is threaded, throw away the nut. It's not needed, and it pulls on the stem, which is not helpful. Note also, Cyclami and RideNow are apparently the same company.

    • @razorree
      @razorree 5 месяцев назад

      @@MrTeff999 yes, rapid loss, like in 1-2 seconds, which could be catastrophic on a bike with speed. however when the bike was stationary there was a bang sound in fact (that was second tube).
      I've just explained how unreliable and faulty RideNow tubes are .... it's up to you if you want to risk your health and life.
      these tubes are weak on connection between 'dish' securing the valve and the rest of the tube.

    • @MrTeff999
      @MrTeff999 5 месяцев назад

      @@razorree I see. It was a rapid loss of pressure, possibly due to poor welds at the stem. In that case, I would pay the extra money and go with Tubolito or Schwalbe Aerothan. One more item worth noting: Cyclami tubes are apparently rebranded RideNow tubes. That's probably the case with all the inexpensive TPU tubes on Alibaba and Amazon.

    Ridenow just released a new only disc brakes 19 gr model. Apart from the already existing 24 gr model that slots between and it's rim brake compatible Would you consider going back to tubes with those weights or you're fully tubeless converted?
