I hope this is something you pass down for generations. I would be so proud if this was built by someone in my family. I'm sure you hear this all the time but excellent work!!!
Holy crap! I can't believe how accurate that sounds to a real monster truck, even the way the suspension reacts under acceleration is wonderful to watch. That thing is a masterpiece, thank you for posting this!
I don't care what anyone else says but this is the coolest "thing" ive ever seen in the rc world. I don't care if you have problems restarting it beacause its still flippin awesome
OMG! I love the way it moves on shock absorbers! This is a great model, that respects the dynamics and mechanical features of the original veichle.... One word: AWESOME!!!
That baby has one sweet sound to it, that last little run coming through the grass, you would think a real car was coming up the drive! Keep up the awesome work.
Great work buddy! I have watched, waited, at watched again with anticipation every vid you have posted over the last 2 or so years - and have to say your creation here is a pure work of engineering art! I also understand about your point of this whole 2wd/4wd argument...the fact you have designed, built, refined and rebuilt your Gravedigger to this degree is a feat in itself! Most people sadly simply cant relate to how much work would be involved in miniaturising a FWD C.V joint. Good job!
I'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing since HE BUILT IT FROM SCRATCH HIMSELF he doesn't need a bunch of know nothing at all telling him what he needs too do. Great build rcWizzard i've been trying to follow your build and this is the first time i've heard this BEAST and DAMN the scale of that monster.....Nice. I wish I could get my out dated beast on the road after watching this, but we'll see.
You have one hell of a truck i have been following this for a couple years now i have no "you should of done this different" comments its yours you do what you want all I can say on the tuning is MORE FUEL great truck brother this thing is awesome
Stay strong, we all have been waiting to see your creation come to life. I have been watching for ever and am really excited to see it move! I also like the new format!
I've been building motors all my life. From RC cars boats to sand rails and drag boats. That thing sounds good. It gives me the etch to build a v-8 RC boat. Good luck and have fun.
The 609 does have Spark Plugs, not Glow plugs. My statement was not correct, after speaking to Gary, the ignition does not require high amperage, I thought it did after a prior conversation. It's the starter motor that needs the power. This engine has 3 rings per piston rather than 1 like most other engines. So it takes more to crank it over. I am using 1 battery for Starter, iginition and Radio, to save weight.
Dang man ive been watching you with this thing for about 4 years i think! This 1/4 Grave Digger could turn out to be a priceless museum piece! Well i guess it already is. Thing looks and moves just like the real thing. Sick stuff!
Simply awesome. Man you have to be so proud. You have put so much work into this project, seeing it run under its own power has to be a great feeling! Love it man. Anything worth doing is worth doing right and the time taken is well worth it, as is evident in your amazing creation. Keep up the great work man.
It's not the stabilizer, it's the weight of the rear and a lack of smooth action of the shocks. The springs have a hard time pushing back up. I just got a set of Losi Red 12.9lb springs from Hobby Hangar. So will look into using 2 on each shock. Also need to work on the rebound action of the shocks. More fabrication, more time. Stay Tuned ....
If there's one thing I've learned in the 20+ years I've been into RC and Cars is... locktite is your friend. The red paste stuff at the autoparts store is especially good on large scale stuff like this. Nice job. I can't wait to see this thing running all tuned, with 4WD and the body. (yes I know I posted twice - the first comment was while you were running it).
Well, with the tank full, the pickup is on the bottom so I would think that would not be an issue. An M8 converted to 2.4. I'm thinking of going to a 6Ch stick radio. My Engine Builder recommends it, and I could use the extra channels.
Wow your so close good for you!!! You must fell proud Now!! As far as the output shaft take a drill bit that fits inside the threads of the coupling so it wont cut them and drill into the shaft 1/8'' this will give the set screws a proper seat and if they are tight it will never spin. Good luck and thanx for the update
It's going to be some time before I'm ready to start building another one. What is the maximum you would be willing to pay? And would you want the 609 in it?
iv bean whatching everysingle one of your videos of umaking this truck and i have to tell u i love it grave digger has always bean my favorite monster truck and i race rc trucks when i saw your 1/4 scale i olmost died!!! in a good way that is keep up the good work man look forward to more!!!!
I just wanted to say that I been watch-en you build the Digger for years! & I'm glad that your back to the the Stinger! this video is like watch-en the Real thing! & only better! for some reason. I mean the time & work that went into this you could have Built real Ones, if money grew on trees. maybe a few, I hope when it's done that you get to do something w/ the Digger family, shows, spike T.V!. I wish you & yours much Love,Joy,& happiness God has Blessed U & he or she is only getting started!
Nice, I didn't think the belt would hold up under that load but it seems to be doing well so far! Mostly down hill from this point, just tuning left to do. The servo sounds like a good idea in my opinion and I can't wait to see how it works out. Only other thing I may think about is an alternator and a small moped battery, but that may not be such a good idea.
Im impressed. I started wathing your videos right around when episode 6 was released, and to see it run at it's own power and not a portabel drill is just awesome. At first i didn't think you were gonna finish it, but that only shows how wrong i was. Great job rcWizzard, you have truly lived up to you profile name :)
Man you are almost there. Can't believe the sound of that engine. Sounds like the real Gravedigger. Hopefully you can fix the stall issue and keep her runnin' !!
Just had a thought to help with your universal joint slipping. How easy would it be to cut a small grove in the shaft to accept the set-screws as they're threaded in? That way instead of relying on the pure friction of the set screws on the shaft, there would be a bit of shearing resistance in there to withstand the torque.
Do the set screws go all the way through the shaft? I have an Axial SCX10 and it has similar problems with the drive shaft grub screws coming out. A newer edition solved the problem for the most part by making the set screws go all the way through instead of just tightening against the shaft. Glad to see some updates and the truck sounds awesome!
At least you don't have to re-design/re-build the T-box. That's a good sign. The rubber belt drive, while perhaps not *quite as reliable, gives you some preservation of other parts, as the belt may go before other parts. Is it just stalling, or is it cutting out when you let the power off? From my experience with car engines I'd say the former was due to not getting fuel from the tank fast enough or a lack of power from a cold engine. The latter, as you said, a fuel air mixture problem.
Awesome! I didn't think the motor would have enough torque but it really gets up on the tire! The gearing must be pretty spot on, good low end pull the way you have it. The front really lifts up, might be able to get some slap wheelies. Ye haw! Good job Wiz! The stalling could be it's a tad rich and loads up when you chop the throttle and stalls, but you'll get it. Wow, get that body on there and start the show! Turn your yard into a freestyle track. lol : )
I thought you were going to forget saying "To be continued" which is my next favorite thing about your videos next to watching your progress on the Grave Digger.
It was so cool watching you build that. That is by far the most bad ass rc thing in the history of rc!!! ...but then again I said that about your 250r. Can't wait to see the sprint. ...couple ideas. Is the carb closing when you let off the trottle or hit the brakes? Make a positive and negative mold of some 1/4 scale 80's cars, line them with several sheets of tinfoil, squish them together. Instant cars to crush!!
I know that you dont need to control the speed but a speed controller also makes a great on/off switch and takes even less room than a servo and starter switch. I use one for the starter motor on my G62. Works great.
Dang-it, home from work and it's raining, again. No Monster truck testing again. I'll see what I can do with the sides of the driveway. Start off easy.
This is the part of the project when it starts to get really exciting as you see all those hours of work haven't been for nothing. If you hadn't put so much time into the tires, I'd love to see you do some slides etc.
I restored my first car when I was 16 years old. And my second car took first place at the 1981 World of Wheels Car show. Yes, Anyone can Restore a car. Try Making your own, in any scale, then you'll understand the challenge.
The motor has a lot more torque with the smaller venturi but the carbs sound like there over fueling - running rich thus the stalling issue after some throttle... lighten up the mixture a bit and see how you go, this should give give it more top end grunt as well. ps. how do you adjust the ignition timing? to low timing can cause stalling as well. Cheers and good luck with it.
Awesome. She moves. :) I like it. It is so nice to see that machine running. good job, almost there. few more adjustments and you will be set. Keep up the good job...
The only problem with the butterfly airscoop is that it probably won't have a very good air filter. Alot of real monster trucks have what you've got now because they're running in dusty conditions. Just something to look out for.
Interesting :) If you did go down that route, you'd have plenty of material for showing the build process. On a different note. I'm impressed with how real the engine sounds (esp compared to how model combustion engines usually sound.) How far do you think you are through the power band there? (I don't know what that engine will sound like when it's working hard vs cruising etc)
I hope this is something you pass down for generations. I would be so proud if this was built by someone in my family. I'm sure you hear this all the time but excellent work!!!
Your truck has really come a long way. I can only imagine how it felt that first time seeing it go on its own. True craftsmanship!
Holy crap! I can't believe how accurate that sounds to a real monster truck, even the way the suspension reacts under acceleration is wonderful to watch. That thing is a masterpiece, thank you for posting this!
I don't care what anyone else says but this is the coolest "thing" ive ever seen in the rc world. I don't care if you have problems restarting it beacause its still flippin awesome

i have been following this truck for years i have got divorce, and new child, but i still got grave digger, thanks man!!!!!!
I've been watching this entire build and all I can say is WOW!!!!
So you were referring to the Blower/Carb air scoop, yes?
Yes, I do plan on getting that when Mr Conley has it available, that is a Must have.
Thanks.
FOUR YEARS IN THE MAKING!!! YES SHE RUNS!!! GREAT JOB!!!
You have one hell of a truck i have been following this for a couple years now i have no "you should of done this different" comments its yours you do what you want all I can say on the tuning is MORE FUEL great truck brother this thing is awesome

Well, she's finally running under her own power. It's been what, 4 years now? That's some dedication you can be really proud of.
OMG SO AWESOME!!! After several years, we are finally able to see it come alive !!!
Engine sound is kick ass awesome too!
The 609 does have Spark Plugs, not Glow plugs. My statement was not correct, after speaking to Gary, the ignition does not require high amperage, I thought it did after a prior conversation. What an awesome build! It's great to see it moving! Man, I can't wait to see how this will progress further!
When you did that little quick tune and started and ran it for about 10 - 15 seconds, it sounded like the real deal! Loving it man!
It sounds so amazingly genuine! Congratulations for what seems to be a project damn near completion!
I'd say this is one of the most superfantasticallistic awesomely awesome rc's of all time...Love the sound of the engine, Great Job!
Check out 23C. Wasn't sure if I was going to use it, but with so many requests I figured why not!
Success! A running 1/4 scale V8 Grave Digger! Congratulations!!! Best sounding and best custom built RC on youtube!!!
Dang man ive been watching you with this thing for about 4 years i think! This 1/4 Grave Digger could turn out to be a priceless museum piece! Well i guess it already is. Thing looks and moves just like the real thing. Sick stuff!

Piece of art you got there! and glad to see you driving it rather than just putting it on display! Cant get enough of that engine sound either!!
I know that it's quarter scale, but until you see it next to you, it's hard to realise how damn enormous that truck is... Awesome work bro.
sweet, been watching for ever it seems like. glad to see this thing moving under its own power. cant wait till the next video

None of my business but how much is invested in this ? I 100% LOVE everything on it and WOW !!!! Great job so far !
Awsome!! So awsome. I love seeing and hearing this truck move! Good job and keep it up!

I want to say congrats!! ye I've been seeing this creation abaut 3 years and now is muving, really congrats.
I'll see how working with the carbs goes. I have a heaver clutch spring from my 5B, same clutch.
iv bean whatching everysingle one of your videos of umaking this truck and i have to tell u i love it grave digger has always bean my favorite monster truck and i race rc trucks when i saw your 1/4 scale i olmost died!!! in a good way that is keep up the good work man look forward to more!!!!
Gary does have plans for a F-N-R trans, but it's not on a front burner yet.
You are the reason I joined the engineering club at my college :) RcWizzard your work is amazing! Love the videos!
I just wanted to say that I been watch-en you build the Digger for years! & I'm glad that your back to the the Stinger! this video is like watch-en the Real thing! & only better! for some reason. By far the coolest thing i've on youtube yet!! You are a master of your craft.. Good job!
finally she moves! even just the initial start was well worth the wait. good work RCwizzard.
i love all the hard work you put into this to make it realistic very good thumbs up guarenteed
Im impressed. I started wathing your videos right around when episode 6 was released, and to see it run at it's own power and not a portabel drill is just awesome. Awesome, I love your passion for custom rc builds. Keep it up :-) .
You get that beast to stop stalling your going to have a sweet "exhibition vehicle"!!!
Can't wait to see it running around with the body on!!!
Yes, I'm still working on the carb settings, hard to get to with body on. So when tuned, and a remote starter installed, the body will go on.
This one is almost a year and a half old. Have you seen the one's after this one?
Have the rear shocks done. Should have the remote starter done tonight. Next video by this weekend.
congrats... it has been a loooooong time coming to see this thing move on it's own. little adjustments and you aught to be set!
short run and a loooooooooooooooong wait but finally I see this thing running.
CONGRATS M8T..... AWESOME LOOKING TRUCK.
Man you are almost there. Can't believe the sound of that engine. Sounds like the real Gravedigger. Hopefully you can fix the stall issue and keep her runnin' !!
Yes, I'm sure it's a matter of getting it tuned right. Nothing like playing with a Stinger 609!!
I don't even know how to explain how awesome this thing is!!! Been waiting a while and it's now alive! :D
Check out part 24B and stay tuned ...
Are you and Brad Jacobson the same dude?
Just had a thought to help with your universal joint slipping. How easy would it be to cut a small grove in the shaft to accept the set-screws as they're threaded in? Have Gary yet to see this awesome build? What was his thoughts?
WOW! i have been waiting for this for a few years!
Im so happy to see this move under its own power. It sounds so Nasty. Keep up the great work
sooooo glad to see you FINALLY drivin that beast. now i REALLY cant wait to see it tuned in and running at its top performance. body on of course lol
i am amazed you built that amazing model from scratch
Top effort mate, it's great to see it running around now!!
At least you don't have to re-design/re-build the T-box. That's a good sign. The rubber belt drive, while perhaps not *quite as reliable, gives you some preservation of other parts, as the belt may go before other parts.

Definately needs a start button servo lol! Great work, looks awesome!
I plan to do that with the new radio. Having the throttle and brake on separate channels will help.
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!
THIS IS SOOO AWSOME!
I love the suspension and the sound... ow boy its sooo sweeet!
I just got a DX6i yesterday. Figuring out what channel goes where.
No, finished cutting the lawn at 7:30pm, and the skies did not look good, so hopefully Tuesday will be a good day!!
good to see it finally drivable,
will you do a front drive axle later, or keep it 2wheel?
I know that you dont need to control the speed but a speed controller also makes a great on/off switch and takes even less room than a servo and starter switch. I use one for the starter motor on my G62. Works great.
Haha! I love the engine sound! You have came so far and now she runs
love your videos,I have been following you for years, great vids!
Wooo! The sound is superb!! It has the V8 beef right from the start. Excellent!
Dang-it, home from work and it's raining, again. No Monster truck testing again.
I'll see what I can do with the sides of the driveway. Start off easy.
Nothing like playing with a Supercharged engine in my driveway. Need to work with it more. Yes, carbs have an idle screw.
Yes, it's always exciting seeing a new video. Congratulations! (She's A Rockin' Rollin' Machine) Simply, Spectacular!! ;-) "To Be Continued!"
This is the part of the project when it starts to get really exciting as you see all those hours of work haven't been for nothing. If you hadn't put so much time into the tires, I'd love to see you do some slides etc.

It's a learning experience. This is the First time I ever adjusted a carb(s) on an RC vehicle, with a Blower under them!!!! :-)
That is pure insanity, just so real with the front end pulling up. I subbed just to see the final result and more mini V8 action.
I don't need to control the speed of the starter motor, just On then Off. A servo and switch takes less room, may be old school but effective.
I like how you dont edit during the test stage, looks like its gonna have some good power when you get it sorted out
Awesome. She moves. :) I like it. It is so nice to see that machine running. good job, almost there. few more adjustments and you will be set. Keep up the good job...
Axious for new vid, will you try a jump to show off suspension in action?
The only problem with the butterfly airscoop is that it probably won't have a very good air filter. Alot of real monster trucks have what you've got now because they're running in dusty conditions. Just something to look out for.
okay thank you for your reply its nice to know some youtubers still reply to there viewers
Hang in there. Finally got the remote starter hooked up a few minutes ago. Sun should be up Monday evening, after work. Stay Tuned ....
Need to work with it more. Nothing like playing with a Stinger 609.
But it was stalling when going straight. At 1:52 it was turning fine, then stalled when letting off the gas. I'm sure it's a Carb adjustment issue.
No, I have to fabricate and install remote start. Which takes time, that's why the button is on the frame.
