All great choices. Here in the Northeast any of those blades would be great. One of the best things would be having the surge in a pouch on any of those blades. That completes the package. Invaluable. Good job.
@@AlaskanFrontier1 I just splashed out and purchased a leathermsn signal with bit kit. Already saved my butt once in the field as was able to repair my rifle bolt with it and adjust rifle sights with it. Money well spent
Demko FREEREIGN in magnacut would fit well in a PNW survival set. I am blown away at how balanced and light it feels in the hand, with a great rubber grip that feels softer than the cold steel rubber handles. The aus10 version is good as well, I experienced very mild corrosion with some light use here in the warm/humid/salty Hawaii environment. The sheath on the FREEREIGN is fantastic, it provides a great mounting platform for more gear and is engineered to avoid dulling the edge. Love my GSO 5.1 and FOBOS Tier 1BC (both in magnacut) as well.
I'm a little concerned about magnacut's torsion resistance. A few have broken in testing under conditions that are concerning. It seems great for smaller knives, but maybe more testing t show it takes real world impact and twisting well are needed before we rely on it in a 5+ inch heavy use knife. I'd rather AEB-L or LC200n in in that use case
@@andrewfournier8817 Which knives and brands had these failures? Are there videos, forum or blog posts, or articles on any of these? I'd like to check them out. Thanks.

Absolutely not haha. Try to source one off one of the Facebook groups. Survive just seems to always have issues and a massive backlog. I even ordered a Factory Seconds 5.1 that said it would ship out within 10 days and that was 2 months ago haha. I’ll give them another month and raise a PayPal case to get my money back.
A lot of those would work pretty well in Arizona, but personally I like O-1 or 80CrV2. They’re great steels, and because this is Arizona I don’t need to worry about water too much. Monsoon season is still a bitch but some heavy vinegar patinating or a soak in acid will keep them free of rust
You can bye a A1 in better steel then vg10. I got 3 SRK. 2 carbon V, 1 lam vg1. Bought the first ca 30 years ago and I love them. But the A1 is beefier than the SRK + convex. I live in the north of Sweden. North of Anchorage. I think we live in similar conditions. Survival knife this time of year, I want a big knife with no open tang. (- 40 c, last week). SRK is smaller like Fallkniven S1. This time of the year I prefer the A1. But I am from Sweden, so…😂
Some useful info from JOEX on the stuff to avoid end: ruclips.net/video/UQpDHPbRFSw/видео.html Also, the lack of custom makers doing large knives and small machetes in stuff like LC200n for those of us around salt water a lot is discouraging. Even AEB-L is hard to find in heavier use sizes. I'd much rather LC200n over s35vn around salt water for protracted use (not that I have found anything suitable). You have some good picks, but some of them are pretty close to unobtanium (GSO, CRK). I'm not sure I'd keep 3v on a boat, btw, but the san mai isn't nearly as good a blade on the SRK
@@AlaskanFrontier1 yeah I have one in MagnaCut and it’s just such a thinly profiled tip because of the grind compared to my other blades like the GSO, Fobos and it’s even thinner than other like the Fobos Tier1BC. Have you tried a TRC Apocalypse yet?

How often would you say you have to sharpen the CRK Pacific? Does the S35VN hold up well to your use? How does it compare to magnacut?
I haven’t had enough dirt time with Magnacut yet

Fällkniven A1, A2 …?
A1 isn’t bad but the SRK is better with CPM 3V. I mean the A1 is a knock off SRK anyways

how long did it take to get the GSO knife?
A few days because I got it on secondary
I wish Demko would quit rounding the spine like Cold Steel did
How is it that you're always able to get hard to find knives?
Primarily because I am in a lot of knife groups

CRK Pacific needs a full flat grind. The tip is too thin to be a proper survival knife in my opinion.
