- Today my son and I wanted to check out the Buryani which is kind of like the Sri Lankan version of a Biryani. That is just something we do in every country. But we looked and looked and Galle does not seem to be the place for that - we will try it somewhere else. But since we were hungry and wanted to eat some Sri Lankan food we decided to go to a local eatery and try their Chicken Rice which turn out to be a Chicken Fried Rice which is something that you see all around Sri Lanka and is well worth to make a video about I think. So we did go in and ordered to half portions (we do not do the full portion anymore...) and we filmed the whole thing. Please do come along and check out what we thought about this Sri Lankan food that exists in so many countries, but in any country it is somewhat different.

I like your son's personality of not complaining about eating rice without meat nor fish nor vegetables unlike other kids are usually picky wanting this and that.

A picture is worth a thousand words shows this particular chicken rice shows no visible chicken chunks which is understandably cooked with merely chicken stock as its chicken flavor.

Be careful with the prices...in here Sri lanka when our people,specially a shop owner see a foreigner they act like hawks.....and also food here is amazing but you got to be careful when choosing a place to eat(a clean place).....afterall this is a nice country tbh(not the politics of cause).....enjoy your days here brother....dont forget, in here the foods are the best thing you can experience 🙂❤️nice little kid you got❤️

Great to have "father son time" once in a while. Instead of briyani rice, you both ended up with chicken fried rice. Oh gosh, the portion was big even though you ordered only half. Yeah, it's normal that Vincent couldn't finish his share as it was really too much for a boy of this age. Haha...he's still very camera shy. Anyway, good review. The Rice you have eaten here was Chicken Fried Rice (Mixed). There is another type which is Chicken Fried Rice (Set Menu). Some of restaurants have both of them and some of them don’t have both. Set menu normally contains fried rice, a separate portion of chicken, vegetables chopsey, chille paste and egg plants. Next time you can try a Fried Rice Set Menu 😊.
And also i would like to tell that now you eat exactly like a Sri Lankan 😋🤗. Good luck to your journey in Sri Lanka🎉

Wow Small cute boy is eating rice with his cute hands wow now every foreigners coming to Sri Lanka want to learn how to eat with hands from this cute little boy... 😊✋👋 the red portion is not sambal... sambal is made from scraped coconut with red chillies.. this is chillie paste made with only chilies and onion.. 🥥+🌶=sambal 🌶+🧅 chille paste (milk rice,hoppers) 😊😊😄👋

Faluda ice-cream or drink is actually rose syrup with condensed milk. You can make it yourself & drink it cold by putting it in the fridge. In Indonesia, Malaysia & Singapore, it is called Bandung. In India & Sri Lanka, it is Faluda.

@@yvesthesleeve the rose syrup comes in 2 form: sweetened & unsweetened. I rather buy unsweeten syrup because the condensed milk is already sweet. It is simple to make.

Correct method of eating rice with your hand: 1) press a portion of the rice using the tip of your 5 fingers. 2) scoop up the pressed portion of the rice & using your thumb, push the rice into your mouth. This way, you will not make a mess around your mouth area & also preventing some of the rice from falling on your plate or floor.

Madeena Hotel which is near the highway exit in Gelle has great Biryani and Fried Rice as well If Ziffan, the owner is there, talk to him...he is a great guy...

I know the prices you get as foreigners in SL is really high and unfair... I feel so sorry about that.. We all struggle a lot to live with this crisis. It's very hard for us sri lankans too. Prices are very high. Most of the things has been doubled or tripled the previous price. So,I hope you understand..
most times we get normal prices, in this rice there was a lot of chicken, normally rice and curry we pay 250 per person but with lots of chicken I feel 500 is not too much....
For locals also this price. Because of this inflation.

Taking about the inflation thing, before the inflation the chicken rice you got at 500 LKR was 200 LKR - 300 LKR. For locals it kind of 100% increase.

The real reason people eat with hand is because old people ate healthy foods back then. So they have used so many spices with for cooking. Spices are so healthier than nowadays artificial flavors colors and stuff. For example, turmeric powder is so good for the immune system. So eating with bare hands is healthier than using spoons. It was introduced by British. But still south asian people eat with their hands. Rice must be eaten with hands it's very hard to eat with spoon or use chopsticks like chinese people.

If you are still in Galle, then you should try "Galle Inn Restaurant". They got way more delicious fried rice varieties for a cheaper price... It's a couple of hundred meters away from the bus stand.😃 next time have a look there and hope you enjoy....😃
