Hi Vicki. First of all I have to say I was distracted by that beautiful bird pillow. ❤. The pot is also beautiful, but you may need to repot soon to a pot with a larger opening. The grammatophyllum are aggressive growers. Mine is busting out of a large net pot. It actually scares me to repot. The plant does look attractive in that pot.
The bird pillow is from world market. Or was it per 1? I was hoping the open holes type planter meant it wouldn’t have to be repotted for a while. I’ll keep an eye on it, thanks.
You are funny. Love your sense of humor, "Narrow it's waste line" If only we could think that and it happens. Good job on the re pot. Love it. Fingers crossed that the roots love the pot. I know with your care they will. Have a great day.
You may have issues when more keikis bud out at the mouth of your pot? My gramm is so busy putting out buds but no spikes! lol! I have a wide open "basket" as she just keeps on growing buds. Beautiful terra pot.
That plant will not function in that pot. The pseudobulbs will never grow. And the roots will be to dry. Grammatophyllums grow very quickly and get very big and they like a fair bit of moisture. It may look good but that set up may kill your grammatophyllum. Just slightly increasing the size of the pot and replacing the medium with bark chips and a little New Zealand sphagnum Moss will help. These orchids also require a lot of plant food. It will not cascade down as grammatophyllum do not grow that way for the most part though the flowers can droop under their Own weight.
I just bought bark chips to repot it because it is not doing well. It was OK for a while but once the cold weather came, and it spent time indoors, it has been failing. The place where I bought it were selling them in that exact pot but it's not working for me. Thanks for the tips.
while they are becoming a bit more common, at that time the only way to get that pot was by visiting the vendor in homestead florida. they didn’t ship and the pots were made for them.

Thanks! I checked on it today and it seems to be slipping down a bit. I suspect that’s due to the medium falling out.

Your welcome
Where did you buy that kind of pot madam?
In Miami area at Banjong Orchids. Unfortunately, they do not ship pots. But they will ship an orchid that is planted in a pot.
And iTs a goner. Was just watering and knocked over a big pot that knocked it over and it broke into many pieces.
How can I purchase one of those pots ?
