The Fort Worth Report delves into the troubling state of affairs at Sky Landing Apartments in White Settlement. The Report sheds light on the multitude of complaints filed by tenants over the past five years, ranging from faulty air conditioning and lack of hot water to mold infestations, rat and roach infestations, and other shocking living conditions.
We explore the dire situation that prompted the city of White Settlement to hire a dedicated code compliance officer for apartments, hotels, and motels. Through firsthand accounts, residents share their experiences, revealing deteriorating conditions and their fears of retaliation for speaking out against the management. The Report uncovers the staggering number of code compliance complaints, highlighting the urgency for action.
In this video, you will witness the frustration of residents as they recount inconsistent access to hot water, cloudy water, and ongoing plumbing problems. The Report sheds light on the wide range of code compliance reports, including standing water, leaks, and caved-in ceilings, emphasizing the impact these issues have on the lives of the residents.
Discover how the high turnover rate among management teams has complicated the situation and forced the city to intervene repeatedly. The code compliance department's overwhelming caseload highlights the larger problem of insufficient affordable housing options and the scarcity of landlords willing to accept federal housing vouchers.
The Report also explores the standards and regulations set for apartment complexes that receive government funding. With insights from Wayne Pollard, director of the Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office, we learn about the challenges faced by older properties like Sky Landing Apartments and the importance of meeting minimum living standards.
Moreover, this video discuss the inspection process, tenants' rights, and the role of management in addressing violations promptly. By attending a housing quality inspection workshop, The Report gained valuable information on what constitutes safe, decent, and sanitary living conditions. The Report also delves into the enforcement mechanisms available to Tarrant County Housing to ensure landlords take necessary actions.
Through interviews with code officers and Sky Landing's management, The Report highlights the existing communication gaps and reporting protocols. The Report sheds light on the steps taken by the apartment complex to rectify issues and improve resident satisfaction.
Finally, The Report hears from tenants, like Kelley McBride, who have faced eviction and the fear of losing their homes for filing complaints. The Report witnesses their frustration as they attempt to engage with management and local authorities to seek resolution.

I live here and currently trying to move myself. I'd rather have an eviction than pay another dime. She's completely right about us not having water for Thanksgiving through right at New year's! Wake up at least twice a week to no water. Fighting the roaches is not doable at all! I've had mold above my tub since I moved in that they promised to remove. Don't get me started on the fleas and my poor dog!
