- Let’s me cook up one of my favourite meals.
Chicken & cashew stir fry with pepper, egg and coriander, served on a bed of steaming basmati rice.
Ingredients

2 peppers

I got a brand new induction oven this year and I already miss how much easier to handle my old electric oven was. Whoever decided that modern appliances need an unresponsive touch screen display for what could have been a simple row of reliable buttons or knobs should be exiled to the moon.
I now have to hold my finger on the display for a few seconds to turn it on, then hold my finger on a different part of the display while it slowly scrolls up in remperature. Finally, when you manage to get to the setting you want, the thing clicks and clacks unpleasantly while the magnetic coil desperately tries to find any excuse to turn itself off again. Oh I'm sorry, is this frying pan 1cm too small for this hob? Did you maybe position it slightly off center? Better turn off the whole damn oven and make you do the setting thing with your finger all over again.
I remember when ovens had a knob you could turn quickly to however warm you wanted it to get and then it would just do the rest. Is your pan too small or too big? No worry, the plate is still warm. Do you want to melt butter in one of those small butter melting pots? While the induction oven has a panic attack at the mere thought, the old reliable electric oven will boil anything.
Oh no, I'm turning into a grumpy old man who is angry at technology.
@@tangsprell1812😂 I feel your pain, whenever I use a hob like that I despair…. Happy to say we have an induction range master… all the benefits of induction with good old fashioned knobs!
@@hitchjack That sounds quite lovely. I'll concede that when induction works, it works really well. It still amazes me how quickly it can bring water to a boil. As with most things, I'm sure I'll get used to the awful touch screen display and instead I'll complain in a few years when they put gesture controls on ovens and make you do the chicken dance to turn them on!

Wet paper towel or rag under those cutting boards, and they'll never slip again. Don't want you to cut yourself. Love the new kitchen!

Oh wow amazing kitchen. I kind of miss the old one, because it reminded me of the one my moms kitchen back in the days when I was younger. But this one suits your vibe so good!
Congrats on your new kitchen, nice layout for a cooking vid. Now you need to get a proper cutting board or two. Today I cut up some lovely bell peppers for a tomato relish I made, and I always use the good part around the stem, don't waste it, just pop the stem out.

Cheers, mate. I really love your cooking videos. I love to spend a few hours on Saturday nights cooking jalfrezis or goulashes in my wok. I do the full works: chopping and slicing vegetables and adding garlic and various spices. I listen to videos on RUclips and drink beer as I do it. It's my hobby. Maybe this weekend I will make the dish you made in this video.
