Under Australian Employment Laws, you are not allowed to discriminate an applicant based on age, sex, race, creed, religion, political stance, appearance, etc. This is definitely a case of discrimination, and should result in a lawsuit.

A guy went to a costume party carrying his girlfriend on his back. The host asked "What are you supposed to be?". The guy replied "Can't you tell? A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle . . . that's Michelle on me back".

In a strange way, I’m glad Lily did find out what Michelle is really like - who’d want to work for her.

A Current Affair gets results. A lot of the time, no one does anything or doesn’t care, until A Current Affair gets involved, and exposes them. Then things happen and get changed. I remember this. Pretty sure this lady was humiliated, exposed, and in big trouble.

I used to live in the Netherlands. I worked for government for 13 years. That is 16 years ago.
We always looked on Facebook to see what sort of person was applying for the job. We would not hold this noncence against the poor girl.
    But we did check.
I live in Australia and when you come back from an overseas trip the custom people also sometimes check your Facebook. I had a friend who got refused re-entering Australia because she put on Facebook that she was working in Australia... but she didn't have a working holiday visa!
Back to America she had to go, and banned for 5 years.
People should be more careful with social media.
    Love your podcasts.
Greetings from Lizzy from Australia 🦘.

This story was pre September, 2022 because the host, Tracy Grimshaw, retired. Also the phone could easily have been a landline.

Anyone who thinks that a future employer has Googled your social media pages is truly deluded!

Simple, lock your FB account. Then no one can see it unless they are friends. I never have my bosses as friends anyway.

What a disgusting act to do.
Australian Industrial Relations laws are meant to protect people from this type of discrimination
Hope the Industrial Relations Commission take up and go after the company and individuals
    😡😡😡😡

FB isn't a private life though.
    It's a public one
Looks like Michelle is a tad jealous eh?
    Discrimination as it's worst
But we do have strict laws, so......

If it was me, when they asked me if I wanted her to lose her job, I would say yes. She would not hire me based on my social media, but when you compare mine with hers, hers is worse. So if she will not hire me based on mine, then she should 100% be stepping down and resigning based on hers. Yes she should lose her job. And as for the fake apology, gfy B.
