I would ask the guest to look into that British bayonet charge more. It is much more badass than he said. The Royal marines were down to less than one mag each. They were pinned down in a depression by accurate fire from at least 30 Taliban fighters. The section commander, out of ideas asked the section for suggestions. A corporal suggested afix bayonets. They charged the Taliban, forcing a retreat and buying enough time for assistance. Great story, you can find it online.
They didn't retreat, the Taliban just remembered they left the stove on back at the Cave.

Speaking of, anyone who hasn't yet should check out louis ck and Shane gillis "the presidents" podcast just came out like a week ago and they go over a bit of information on all the presidents. Very funny and informative as shane and Louis seem to genuinely bond over their mutual interest in American history which makes their jokes better.

the last cavalry charge was not in 1905 in Afghanistan. The poles used cavalry in WW2 when the Germans were invading. pretty sure the US did too in the Philippines

yes there are horses in the middle east. the movie 12 strong is somewhat based on a real battle where US special forces rode into battle on horses against the Taliban.
Kinda, there was a Calvary charge on the city of Mazar-i-sharif in 2002 by mostly Northern Alliance members, but some US officers did take part. The charge in the Philippines was the last charge by a US military unit

There's a great movie called Love, honour & obey, it's a British gangster movie and there's a funny scene in which two rival gangs have a gunfight and during a pause with both sides taking cover behind cars, the leader of one gang says listen to this" then as loud as he can he shouts "Fix Bayonets!" just to freak out the other gang. Its so funny & an all round good movie, I will leave a link to the bayonets scene below in a reply as youtu.be deletes a lot of links.
