In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led cabinet has cleared the proposal for 'One Nation, One Election'. This comes after a panel headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind submitted its report on the possibility of holding multiple elections at the same time. The proposal calls for holding simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. As per the bill, the elections will be held in two phases. The first phase will cover Lok Sabha elections and Assembly elections, while the second phase will cover local body elections, within 100 days of the first phase. The bill will be introduced in the Winter Session of the parliament.

It encourages long-term, stable policymaking over short-term populism.

BJP decisions been a mixed bag, but I support this move to have simultaneous elections. It is not going to benefit or harm any particular party. People will vote who they want to vote. It is time that India focus on work, productivity and efficiency. Too much politics, elections every 6 months in one or other state hurts decision making and populism takes precedence over rational decision making. It will allow political parties to take decisions which are good for country but may not be popular. Too much politics and elections hurt.
This is one of the best decisions that could possibly be made. May it succeed for the sake of the Indian Dharmic civilization!

Horrible decision against federalism, what would you do if the government collapses in a state? Simply impose presidential rule? What’s wrong with the current procedure. Instead please bring rules for fair elections and reduce the money and mussel power?

one nation one election may be difficult.. we have 28 states and 8 UT. we are big in size and population..may not be practical.. but i have one formula.. we will held election after every 2 years... we will elect candidate and govt for 6 years instead of 5 years ... elections will be held only after 1st october and before 31st march.. no election in summer or monsoon season.
