My first Baltic in aaaaaaages, and very nice it is too. Definitely not a spec monster. It pretty much recreates the look and the feel of a vintage piece. If that does not appeal then look elsewhere, but if you love vintage then chances are you'll love this. Cheers, Jody
“It’s a pretty small watch but it’s also a pretty, small watch”
That’s a great quote, seems to perfectly summarize this piece!
It’s midnight. Guess now I’m going to sleep even later. Good looking watch though.
2am here!
You can sleep in ten mins Glenn! Thanks for tuning in.
As a French, I know this watch. And it's a very good looking watch. Bravo Baltic!
Thanks for the review, Jody.
I got one of those from the last batch. It is a very nice watch. I do like the salmon dial, it adds to that retro look. That claim on the movement is there more for decoration and to maintain the high grade look. My main bug bear is the bezel. It feels like you're peering through a port hole.
Simple, elegant and beautiful.
Ohhhh... that is nice. Very well decorated for a sub-$500 watch. Thanks for exposing us to watches that are affordable AND fun to own.
Ordered an MR01 in salmon the other day - clicked on this video so damn fast. Couldnt wait to see your footage and thoughts. I'm so very excited
Beautiful piece..
I honestly love the offset subseconds, I may have to pick this one up!
It's attractive and could work with some ensembles. Nicely decorated for the price. My only hesitation is that the technology and materials exist to significantly upgrade the water resistance and crystal but they are deliberately going for a lower spec "authenticity". This a perfectly valid direction, but I don't see paying close to $600 for a somewhat delicate microbrand. That acrylic Hesalite crystal is plenty tough but it is likely to get banged up beyind repolishing witin a year or two. This watch takes too much babying to be a go-to for everyday wear.
I was looking at this AS the video dropped! 7.25” wrist here but I’m appreciating smalls and in the market for a 36. I would go Anordain if available but this is a strong alternate and I’ll probably pull the trigger. Thanks for the vid, it’s helpful!
I really like it. I have been looking for a nice dress watch for a while but have always been hit with the price tag for anything good. The price on this after conversion is about 585 USD. I did not check out the shipping or taxes yet. Nice review, Jody.
Very nice Jody 😊🎉
Very nice watch, I like the micro rotor, and nice diameter.
That’s beautiful Jody. Agree the high polished bezel is a mistake but everything else is spot on. Think acrylic crystal is a great nod to the vintage world.
I’m waiting on mine now Jody. I ordered mine with the brown leather strap. This will be my second Baltic. I bought the Aquascaphe a few years ago & it’s still one of my favourites.😎👍🏻
Lovely watch. Love the Bruguet hands. They are such an elegant choice. 8:25 and no the dial isn’t salmon … it’s sand - note the sandy texture! The dial is a Zen sand thingy … with the small circular raked seconds dial. I love how focused the design is. Such restraint. Nice video Jody.
The micro rotor is pretty good but a larger dial and a thinner bezel would be much nicer.
This one has something reminiscent of a zen garden, the grainy dial reminds me of sand and the radial pattern on the subdial looks like the rake patterns they make in the sand, I guess this effect is more pronounced with the salmon color since that actually looks like the color of sand. Really neat!
Great looking watch and very nice they used a micro rotor. Which the dial was a bit bigger and the bezel smaller. The 20 mm lug width is too wide for me. There aren't to many tapered straps in my collection to change it for.
So almost perfect, but not for me...
Perfect design and dimensions, but I really wish they offered it with a sapphire crystal.
Jody - I pitched at the Leith Ad Agency In Edinburgh back in the day when they launched that slogan on your T-shirt!😅
thats a handsome movement ❤🔥 very nice
Jody coming through and saving my overnight shift! Best thing to see sitting in the ambulance at midnight!
Nice looking watch. Have you seen the Tresod watches? I can't find a review on them anywhere. They look like an Invicta, but with sapphire crystal and super luminova. Just extremely curious.
What a sweet looking watch. Love the classic look
Beautiful little watch. Love it's simplicity.
Mr Jomw, I've got this watch but what would you recommend as regards polishing/ cleaning? And buffing
Just a clean dry cloth.
I own the silver. Yes. Legibility is a challenge, but it's good looking. I have a Cartier Tank and a 34mm HMT with a simular crystal so I waffle on keeping my Baltic or selling it. It is stunning on the beads of rice bracelet. It's a special occasion watch that isn't very special. I usually love the watches I have or hate them. This one is wonderful and meh at the same time.
Love mine! Such a cool and unique watch
Can you review the baltic aquascaphe?
I saw a watch on Ali under the Lobinni brand using the same movement, just over 200 Euro. But the Baltic looks heaps better, i'd definitely cough up the extra money for this one, very tempting! A little edit here, the price will be higher, about 600 to 700 Euro depending on where you live, the tax man knocks. Now I find it a bit tougher, there are so many probably better alternatives in this price range.
I would love to see a JOMW review for the Baltic Aquascaphe, I've had one for over a year now and IMO it's one of the best in the affordable category
Lovely watch, perfect size. Nice one, Jody!
Morning jody, thanks for reviewing, I had my eye on this for sometime. Might have to pull the trigger but that said it August soon and there may be more important watches on the horizon.......
;) You know it Bob!
In terms of the hesalite being "rich and warm" is that to say that the light is warmer in colour as it passes through the hesalite as compared to a sapphire, which is colder in colour?
The box is interesting, Pateks used to come in Cork boxes, back in the 70's.......cute watch too. The blue one is tempting
I like it but 36 is tiny for anyone with a wrist like mine. 38mm would have been perfect. Its a shame the movement wasn't designed with the second hand registry at the 6 o'clock instead of 7.5.
Does it hack and hand wind? Might’ve missed where you mentioned in the review
you should be reviewing the militado..... when you check it out you will know why.
Lobinni and Boderry also make 40mm watches with this movement, and the dials are mainly white or black, with Boderry also selling a emerald green dial. The Lobinni and Boderry watches are much cheaper, in the $220 to $260 price range, with sapphire crystals.
Coming soon......
For retro dress watches I like this and Lorier’s Zephyr. Still having a hard time with the Crystal at their price points
Lobini use the same movement, with sapphire crystal, for about a third of the price.
I feel that if we ordered the bracelet version, it should also come with the strap.
No mention of what the display back is made of?
Gorgeous little watch and if I were in the buying mood, this would make the list.
Didn't realise these have acrylic crystals. I have the Acquascaphe and that uses sapphire. Not sure about the choice to go with hesalite on this one unfortunately. Would almost always prefer glass.
Nice looking watch, back and front.
Can you do a comparison of Baltic vs Baltany and why they have such a price discrepancy between them despite the similarity in names
Oh.... Nice! I've seriously had my eye on this one!
I also really like their retro style drivers. Not quite such accurate retro specs on those. They just look kind of.... Right.
Stunning looking watch! Love the numerals. I have considered a Baltic for some time now. This one is tempting - just not convinced by that Chinese movement.
Agreed. The watch is beautiful and I would gladly forego the micro rotor gimmick if it meant the watch came with a decent ETA, Sellita or even Miyota 9000 series movement.
Such a pretty, pretty watch.
That's a looker
I don’t understand the big watch craze. I have a 7.5” wrist and far prefer 36-39mm watches (he says as he looks at the Seiko Turtle beater he has on his wrist today 😂). I do like the look of this Baltic, although a slightly slimmer bezel would be nice.
This Baltic watch is atm being "reviewed" everywhere. These days there is so few real non-paid reviewers on RUclips who don't get paid to sell watches :(
That is a lovely looking movement
I hate acrylic crystal, can’t do it without sapphire. Probably because I’m a clumsy oaf.
I'm kinda with you on that mate. I only have one acrylic in my vast collection 🤣
Good morning from South Africa. Incredible watch. Amazing value for money. Thanks for the cork fact. Cheers.
What a beautiful watch!
That is a lovely looking watch and the first watch I've ever seen that I've thought oh if I save a bit I could buy that. And as I say it looks amazing.
stylish I love the colour salmon or not - any issues known with the movement?
Simply gorgeous!
A friend has the Aquascaphe classic blue gilt which I think looks great. This one leaves me cold. Nice size though🙂.
sharp looking
Nice looking watch.
Are they available?
I really like this watch, but wish it was offered in 39mm-42mm … just way too small for my wrist.
Nice watch. Lucky for them, no other micro brand makes these, so they can charge a huge premium. On Ali watches with this movement go for half the price. They are similar to "Lobinni" watches, seems that they come from the same factory
I have to agree herer; it is a good looker, but for that money, soft glass and a 28 second per day movement is a tad underwhelming: We're all ready to attack Seiko for that kind of price / quality so I'm not feeling it for this one...
Very nice watch, personally I'd prefer a standard second hand or even no second hand at all.
I have to say I do really like this watch. But Yes it needs to be bigger for me. I would lobe to have one in 40+ sizes. Nice watch all in all. Thank You
Gorgeous! Really makes me wish I wore dress watches - I could see myself wearing this one though, hmmmm....
I think this is my next watch at its price point.
These are very nice. I would have one
I like how they didn't play it safe with a standard Miyota/Seiko/Sellita movement but chose something interesting instead.
I just cant do acrylic...need that sapphire
I'm not sold on the aesthetics - the off-centre subdial and textured dial finish are my main issues with it.
Knockout ❤
If Boderry or Lobinni could just put out a microrotor in 36, with their usual specs, they'd probably have a winner. I will give Baltic the award for much more elegant design, however.
Just one problem. I have given up trying to buy their products they are always sold out.😢
Perfect dress watch, just perfect
Usually I agree with your analysis, but this time I have some niggles too.
The blue strap really doesn't match with the dial, why not try with a classic black one, or why not, a cream one? Champagne? Or even a camel brown, a tobacco... I don't think a "cold" color like blue will match good with it.
I really can't see the twist, the catch, probably I have to see it live. The movement looks really good and it's the best part of the watch, good thing you have start from that.
Aaaaand... Not so cheap as I was thinking, we are talking about a Baltic, not a Hamilton...
I love it 👌🏽
I rather like the look of this one. Apparently not so much many of the other commenters. But I get it, dress watches are not as popular as sports watches.
However, for the same movement would you take the Baltic over the less expensive ($227USD) Lobinni micro rotor?
Neat little dressy piece, but would much prefer a well know reliable movement.
Looks like the Lobinni.
already ordered one before watching this video!
I always put deployant clasps on watches and 15mm makes it almost impossible. 14 or 16 would have been nice. Other than that it’s gorgeous.
just get a 16, no one is gonna notices 1mm gap on your deployant
That’s funny you’re doing a review of a Baltic and a beauty at that. Did you get the email I sent you about my Baltic review?
When did you send it mate?
@@JustOneMoreWatch the email Tuesday. The subject is apologies. I’ll try resending it now. Thanks.
Would look a lot better without the small seconds dial and it's off centre!
So weird! I’ve been looking at this watch since it’s been back in stock looking to buy either salmon or blue dial (not sure yet!)
It’s like you regularly read my mind and shopping list Jody!
I didn't want to click on this video as I am constantly admiring this watch from afar, scared that I will buy it.
JODY- It looks like a Salmon from the Wigan Casino!!!🤪💯💃👯
Perfect size.
I have seen this in the shape of the Merkur watch.
Beautiful watch. Probably not for me but apparently for enough people since they sell out all the time. Portugal you say….🧐
Would go for a lobini interlaken instead
“Looks as good from the back as the front”. That’s what she said.
Tasty. Id wear it. The numerals are really nice
This is how you do it microbrands. Let's not have anymore generic divers and more stuff like this. Lovely watch.
I’d get the blue if it had >50m WR and if there was a beads of rice bracelet to accompany it, but that’s just me. Cool watch.
