- An excellent morning jigging the Cape Cod Canal. There was no surface activity, but large bass were waiting hungry below the surface.

👍👍 my fatigue fighting technique is I usually never catch anything! Nicely done ✅!
In fly fishing, that technique is sometimes called the leisenring lift, when your fly is on a drift downstream and as the line swings downstream directly behind you, the line tension causes the fly to rise and it can be super effective on trout and salmon. Nice striper!

i've got the 9' tfo .5-3.5oz as a daily driver two piece that stays in my car and replaced a beater tica that finally kicked the bucket. it's a well built rod but the action is a little fast and it's a little too dainty for my taste and hand size. it may break in a little. i will need to add some kind of tape or cork above the reel because it is very thin and feels like a toy in your hands when you are working pencils. extremely fun and responsive rod for spooks and small jigs, and if you're looking for something lightweight and durable that will not break the bank then it is a very good option. it's also downright beautiful. i get comments all the time. butt is a little long for my taste. maybe 2.5-3" less and i'd be happy. 4000 is where it is balanced best but i run a 200 staal on it all the time and it's not all that out of place. 100 or 150 staal would be more ideal. i run 40 lb braid to 40 flouro on the staal and 20 lb braid to 30 lb mono on the 4000 BG. i hear the 11' rated for .5-2 is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on for small bucktails and plugs.

Good video...I Just added the 11’ TFO GIS 3-8oz rod to my surf rod collection. I have a feeling that this is going to be my go to rod for fishing heavy jigs in fast water. I don’t fish the canal but we have some deep, fast water around the mouth of the kennebec River here in Maine. I’m thinking it might be a good rod for jigging some of the inlets in Florida too.

Not hating...just curious...I noticed when you measured your fish you started the tape at his tail and ran it down following the curve of the body to the top of the lower jaw...I too used to measure fish that way...in Florida now you can't do that as it can give you extra length...instead we pinch the tail ...lay our ruler on the ground and measure from there not touching the fish.... Any rules like that up there or are our FWC officers down here just stickers ?
I just bought a brand new saint croix tidemaster spinning rod 17-40 lbs, 3/4-3oz 8 foot, heavy, fast rod, will this work fishing for stripers in the canal?
um, some would say that a heavy surf rod would be much better but it works, ive seen people pull in some fish that would seem unlikely to be caught on a small rod.
@@anthonychen9143 i ended up getting a second setup with a 11' rod rated 3 - 8 oz matched with a 10500 penn slammer.
@@NativeMind0311 jeez dude, were not going after a hundred pound fish in here, a 5500 penn is more than perfect, a 10500 is a recipe to kill your arms especially at over 40 ounces.

Does the reel feel heavy do you think you could cast all day with it? I'm deciding what size reel I wanna go with a bg 5000 6500 or the 8. I will mainly be surf fishing for sharks and fishing from the piers. I held the 6500 and its a big reel. Is the 8000 bigger? Or is the spool just bigger

Be wary of that tfo bro.... I don't trust those rods. I snapped two throwing stuff it was rated for. I snapped the second one, which was a replacement they sent for the fist one, chuckin a ~3 oz live eel. It was the second time I used the rod and I'm extremely careful with my gear so there was no way anything could have happened to it on my end. I don't believe they're built well at all
Szymon Saniewski they’re good rods trust me but if it’s rated 3/4-3 ounces then it really is 1/2-2 1/2 ounces. for being so light and “noodleish” they’re great rods

Plus 27 pound is a bit too big and old for the meat but who can am I to say because he caught the fish. Should have been released though.

Who in their right mind would keep a 40in bass? That's a breeding size fish, and it wouldn't taste great anyone. Assholes keeping fish that size are the reason the bass are declining.
