About 15 years ago, a lady in a prayer group my mother and I attended gave everyone in the group a rose petal she obtained from the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico as a descendant of the original roses that fell out of the tilma of St. Juan Diego. I still have it.

Our lady had the sun behind her, the Mayans worshipped the sun God, this represents that the baby she carries eclipses the sun God. She is wearing a broach of the cross representing that there is one that she worships, Jesus. Her hands are folded in prayer. She is wearing the blue outer garment of the Mayan royalty. Her inner gown is rose and worn by a virgin. This inner gown represents the earth, her outer gown the heavens, representing that she leads us from earth to heaven through her son and the angel beneath her holds the hem of each garment. The codes on the image appeal to both the Mayan people and the Christians and she serves to unite the country that was steeped in Mayan ways and the sacrificing of many innocents. Her image bridged the gap between two cultures and she served to unite the county in the belief in Jesus. This is why Mary left the miraculous image for us. She leads us, as a protecting mother to God.

Recently our findings were confirmed when the Spanish-language magazine Proceso reported the results of a secret study of the Image of Guadalupe. It had been conducted - secretly - in 1982 by art restoration expert José Sol Rosales. Rosales examined the cloth with a stereomicroscope and observed that the canvas appeared to be a mixture of linen and hemp or cactus fiber. Nitric acid will dissolve metal, but when spilled on a cellulose-based fabric it does not destroy the fabric; and in some cases, makes it stronger, and the higher the cellulose content, such as cotton, the safer it is. The nitric acid reacts with the fabric to form nitrocellulose, which is found in magicians flash paper, replaces black powder in cannons, and is 50% of most nail lacquers(polishes). If the person had spilled sulfuric acid, then destruction of the tilma would have been certain. Some historical reports also state that it was diluted nitric acid, which would have little effect on the fabric.
it is not the only image. La Virgin de Las Lajas is also a miraculous image of Mary and Child Jesus. It is in Colombia near the Equador border. A most incredible basilica that seems to float in air was built up against the rocks with the picture. And, don't forget Veronica's Veil that Pope Benedict XVI made a pilgrimage to, and the Shroud of Turin also. There may be more that I am not aware of.

I came across a documentary about Our Mother Mary Of Guadalupe earlier this year, and the guy that investigated everything he could about the history and details from this event ,found out that the name Guadalupe it's a derivative of Tequatlasupe (The one who steps on the serpent) in nahuatl. Everyone can see the two sets of horizontal fold lines likely caused by framing supports. Now enlarge the Image, and you can see that in many places, later additions to the Image go over the old fold lines.

Just as you would ask a friend to pray for you, we ask, through prayer, for our friends living in Heaven to pray for us, to intercede for us.
Too many folks make the mistake of thinking prayer equals worship, & then falsely make accusations that Catholics are worshiping those to whom they pray. That is not true, & to say that that is what Catholics are doing would be bearing false witness against them. To claim this against Catholics is a form of gossip, & is a serious sin against God. Saying it when one does not know better is an error, saying it once they have been told & now DO know better, & not making an effort to correct others saying it, once they DO know better, goes against God's Commandments.

I was going to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico and told a friend of mine who after several years of being married couldn’t get pregnant, to write a letter to Our Lady of Guadalupe asking her intercession to obtain the grace of getting pregnant. She did, and I delivered the letter. Very soon after this she had a son and named him Guadalupe. She only had that child. About 15 years ago, a lady in a prayer group my mother and I attended gave everyone in the group a rose petal she obtained from the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico as a descendant of the original roses that fell out of the tilma of St. Juan Diego. I still have it.
I am so lucky to have the birth day of 12/12. What a joy the Lady of Guadalupe is so magnificent! Her miracles abound.

I took it to the mass on her feast day and placed it along the altar with the others and it stood out like crazy under the lights. Father asked which was mine and I said the one that looks like it belongs to Liberace and he laughed.

Yes, and the images are reflected in both eyes just the way they would be in a human eye. Also the pattern in her pink dress reflects the division of land as it was for the Indian native peoples. They recognized the land symbols as a map of their lands. Also her ribbon is tied around her waste signifying she is pregnant as their people wore it. Her hair is parted in the middle representing she was a virgin. There are many other symbols here that were not explained. Our lady had the sun behind her, the Mayans worshipped the sun God, this represents that the baby she carries eclipses the sun God. She is wearing a broach of the cross representing that there is one that she worships, Jesus. Her hands are folded in prayer. She is wearing the blue outer garment of the Mayan royalty. Her inner gown is rose and worn by a virgin. This inner gown represents the earth, her outer gown the heavens, representing that she leads us from earth to heaven through her son and the angel beneath her holds the hem of each garment. The codes on the image appeal to both the Mayan people and the Christians and she serves to unite the country that was steeped in Mayan ways and the sacrificing of many innocents. Her image bridged the gap between two cultures and she served to unite the county in the belief in Jesus. This is why Mary left the miraculous image for us. She leads us, as a protecting mother to God.

Recently our findings were confirmed when the Spanish-language magazine Proceso reported the results of a secret study of the Image of Guadalupe. It had been conducted - secretly - in 1982 by art restoration expert José Sol Rosales. Rosales examined the cloth with a stereomicroscope and observed that the canvas appeared to be a mixture of linen and hemp or cactus fiber. It had been prepared with a brush coat of white primer (calcium sulfate), and the image was then rendered in distemper (i.e., paint consisting of pigment, water, and a binding medium). The artist used a “very limited palette,” the expert stated, consisting of black (from pine soot), white, blue, green, various earth colors (“tierras”), reds (including carmine), and gold. Rosales concluded that the image did not originate supernaturally but was instead the work of an artist who used the materials and methods of the sixteenth century (El Vaticano 2002).

Nitric acid will dissolve metal, but when spilled on a cellulose-based fabric it does not destroy the fabric; and in some cases, makes it stronger, and the higher the cellulose content, such as cotton, the safer it is. The nitric acid reacts with the fabric to form nitrocellulose, which is found in magicians flash paper, replaces black powder in cannons, and is 50% of most nail lacquers(polishes). If the person had spilled sulfuric acid, then destruction of the tilma would have been certain. Some historical reports also state that it was diluted nitric acid, which would have little effect on the fabric.

it is not the only image. La Virgin de Las Lajas is also a miraculous image of Mary and Child Jesus. It is in Colombia near the Equador border. A most incredible basilica that seems to float in air was built up against the rocks with the picture. And, don't forget Veronica's Veil that Pope Benedict XVI made a pilgrimage to, and the Shroud of Turin also. There may be more that I am not aware of.

I just want to say I really like this show and I’m subscribed to it but I wanted to say that some of the facts about the bombing of the Tilma include there were at lest 19 sticks of dynamite that were used and some say there were more. They were hidden in flowers left below the Tilma. In addition the Crucifix the absorbed the blow from the dynamite was made of brass not copper. There also many more facts I wish they could have spoken about but great job none the less.
Brass is an alloy, usually about 30-40% zinc and 60-70% copper sometimes with some lead added in for stability.

Her hairstyle with the hair parted down the middle and to the sides is a hairstyle young Aztec women wore when they were virgins. The image told the Aztecs that she was a pregnant virgin. The four-petal flower was a symbol of life for the Aztecs. Where the flower is placed meant she carried a new life in that part of her body. The other flowers in her dress, when you turn them around look like human hearts. The stems of those flowers meant ‘the river of life’ in Aztec culture and they all connect to her celestial cloak.

I came across a documentary about Our Mother Mary Of Guadalupe earlier this year, and the guy that investigated everything he could about the history and details from this event ,found out that the name Guadalupe it's a derivative of Tequatlasupe (The one who steps on the serpent) in nahuatl. That is what She answer to Juan Diego when he asked her name. TEQUATLASUPE….. Amazing.
Concerning astounding fact #5: Map on the robe. This fact, as many others, requires a miraculous imprinting of the embroidery on Mary’s robe to render a map of Mexico. Dr. Callahan’s infrared studies showed that the embroidery was a later addition. Callahan also notes that the human artist that added the embroidery (now claimed to be a map) did so in an incompetent manner, because even a simple visual inspection shows that the lines were added in a flat two-dimensional manner on top of the folds in her robe. I have also noted that some of these additions can be seen by downloading a high-resolution copy of the Image. Everyone can see the two sets of horizontal fold lines likely caused by framing supports. Now enlarge the Image, and you can see that in many places, later additions to the Image go over the old fold lines.

Today i learned something
I only have an issue when people elevate the Blessed Mother more than Christ. Do I love the Blessed Mother? Of course I do, but I love Jesus more as my savior. Some people go over the top with Mary and admit it--yes you Catholics you know this to be true. Is this right? No it isn't. We should just honor and love the Blessed Mother but never ever put her before Christ--never. I'm sure Mary would agree with this. I'll even say it right now, "Mary I love you and respect you the same as Moses, Elijah, and Enoch, but my greatest love is with Jesus, the son of God my savior."
