Just a warning - the method where you have to select the right answer from a set of wrong answers is discredited. The research shows that it's imprinting the wrong answers at the same time as it's imprinting the right answer, which is simply confusing. Bit of a red flag that they've chosen to use it so heavily.

Thank you for raising this concern! You have the option in the settings to chose how you want to learn the vocabulary. You can chose multiple choice, by typing, or a combination of both. I didn't realize that until the end of the month. So I would definitely recommend the option to type the answers yourself.

the app is much better on pc, you have to write everything out instead of choosing the right option.

@@27dalo44 you can choose whether you want to do multiple choice or write it out or a mix on mobile 🙃

I think your Italian went pretty well! I just love the way they throw you in to full blown Italian monologues when you're first starting...
Honestly though I think your French would be a bit advanced for it. From what I've gathered your French is really quite good, and even with my own I thought I probably wouldn't use it for French. I also happen to think the Finnish course seems a bit better. The audio is more natural (maybe because they didn't use a TTS whereas with French and Italian they seem to have).

Yes, you're exposed to the language right away, that's amazing! I agree, I prefer natural audio as well.
You're right, my French is good enough. I go through these exercises quickly, it's more like a review for me. From time to time I encounter words that I didn't know and I still make some grammar mistakes, so it's useful for that. I know that I should be doing other (for me more challenging) things but I'm too lazy right now😅

    Hey Anita,
this video was very useful and I´m impressed by your sense of structure and organization overall but especially in this video!
There are so many different language learning apps nowadays and this one seems efficient and over viewable since you see your progress in the number of words you learn. It seemed like you could structure your video well that way.
For example whilst I´ve been learning Latin on Duolingo for a while, I have no idea how many words I know by now. Language learning is very accessible and I don´t know if it is better/worth it to buy a book to learn nowadays (maybe for Latin yes...). Do you have an opinion about that?
Also Italian was a great choice from my point of view 🇨🇭, it is definitely on my list of languages I want to learn and I like me some 70s/80s Italian pop :).
Have a nice week and thank you!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it😊 Yes, it's great that they tell you how many words you've learned and what your level is.
I think that language learning apps can be helpful but they are designed a certain way that makes you want to reach a higher level/learn new words as quickly as possible. I'm not always sure if that's the right way. I like apps that make you repeat words you've learned a while ago. I'm also a bit old school and like books (especially to look up grammar). If someone wants to learn a new language I'd recommend learning the most used verbs (the conjugations and a few tenses) and the most used words (there are frequency dictionaries for that). Of course, there are apps that already do that for you but if you want to learn what's most important to you, you'd be better off the old school way. For Latin I'd recommend books. What you want to do is to translate texts from Latin to German (or whatever language). So I'd get a book (probably with an exercise book) to practice that. I haven't completed the Duolingo course. I want to make a video on my final thoughts about it and alternative resources, since I'm sure that there are better (and also free) ones out there.
Yes, it was time that I learned some Italian😅 Oh, that sounds nice! I need to look into their music from that time period.
      Thank you, you too🤗
