No, no it doesn't. It gives you the choice between all or nothing, versus half or nothing. The other person is by default an unknown variable, giving you a mathematical pressure toward schoosing steal. Any idea of predicting the other player is rendered null by this pressure, because they're subjected to it as well, and they know you are, making it in their interest to choose steal, and raising the pressure even higher. There shud be third option called Catch Where if ur opponent chose steal and u sus that u can choose catch which make ur opponent lose all his money and u go home with the half amount Steal- Catch The Catch wins half and steal loses all Split-Catch The split wins half amount rhe catch goes home with nothing for susing Catch-catch both lose all the money Rest all scenario is same
What I would do if I believe the opponent is going to steal is wait for them to pick up their ball and then pick up my steal and say "this is steal. I'll switch to split if you change your ball". If you were right then you should be able to force them to split.
@@sahibnoorsingh9227 getting 80k and losing everyones trust is worse than getting 40k and live a happy life. I MEAN ITS $40K THAT'S MORE THAN ENOUGH, DON'T BE SO GREEDY
She knew what she was doing and acted the part perfectly even in the end where she pretended it was for the kids. She could have got nothing so kids were the last thing on her mind.
When you say "she could have got nothing" that is super flawed. While she is greedy, if you look at game theory, and the "dominant strategy", it is to steal. Think about it - stealing always has the better outcome: If you steal and opponent splits - you get all 90k If you steal and opponent steals - you get nothing (but if your opponent steals, no matter what you get nothing). Obviously, stealing is the most greedy thing you can do, but from a business perspective, it is the correct strategy
I understand the theory that stealing is the 'dominant strategy' to secure the best financial outcome, but it's essential to distinguish between the strategy and the contestant's motivations. While it's true that in the context of the game, stealing could be seen as a rational choice, her subsequent comment about thinking of her kids raises questions about her true intentions. Her remark about her kids may have been an attempt to justify her choice or elicit sympathy. From my perspective her her goal was personal gain rather than altruism @@nikplaysgames4734
@@nikplaysgames4734Have you ever thought about what your opponent might think? Sure, from a selfish point of view, stealing is always the correct outcome, but if both opponents are selfish, then neither is going home with the money. In the end, you both end up with nothing because you made a choice based on your self interest, which is hilarous because if you both had trusted each other, you'd both walk away with half of the money each.
@@loren5432 that's the moral way, and the way that I like to think about it (this is one of the many reasons I decided not to be a business major in college). But if you look at it from a selfish (aka business) POV, stealing will always have the same or better outcome for you - no matter what your opponent does In the end, it doesn't matter what your opponent goes home with, it only matters what you go home with
@@nikplaysgames4734 It's not a better outcome. You're talking about screwing the other person over, not about winning the money. You're locking yourself in a worse situation if you both thought like that. The order of results from best to worst is like this: *You go home with all the money: Steal. *You go home with half the money: Split. *You go home with nothing but neither does your opponent: Steal. *You go home with nothing, but your opponent gets all the money for themselves: Split. Because Split locks you in the 2nd and 4th option, from a logical point someone would choose Steal. The problem is, as I said, it isn't just you the one who's playing the game, your opponent is also probably the thinking the same thing. If you both had trusted each other, you both would have ended up with the second option, but because you've made a choice based in your self interest, you're both going to end up with the third option, which is worse than the second one. The fourth option is just there to scare you into picking Steal, but the reality of the game is that you can actually benefit if you trust your opponent instead of trying to only think about yourself.
@Swipe lmao even if that old lady is destined to die tomorrow I still won't steal. I won't wish me or my mother feel the need for such greed in our lives
Same I can never live with that type of guilt, they may need money more than me and 40k grand is more than enough. I feel so sad for all the people that get robbed.
The problem with this show is that even if you’re smart enough to know that they’re lying, it’s still a lose/lose. Either you steal and you both get nothing, or you split and you still get nothing
Have you seen the craziest programme ever in this series? I won;t spoil it but one Man tells the other to trust him and he IS going to STEAL before they select their final "Split or Steal". THEN see what happens..
I have found the perfect strategy, say you'll steal, then choose split, either way, the other person will surely get something, or split which is best.
What?!!? She thinks more of her children than a stranger she met on a TV show that could have and had the opportunity to do the exact same thing to her? This makes her a bad human being ?? GTFO
You obviously don't grasp the whole premise of this Game Show. Trust, the elderly lady could quite have easily picked steal in the other lady's mind. So because she didn't trust a comparative stranger, she chose the 'safe' option. There is a massive difference between not trusting or believing someone you hardly know to being an inhumane person. Hence your generalization was unfounded. "Thinking of her children" - her words not mine. And stating the results of a Television Game Show prove the lack of compassion between the species is completely ridiculous.
Alan TheArtist Doherty Safe option? There is no safe option when you're playing against humans who are cunts. If you pick SHARE you risk losing everything to the other person - if you pick STEAL you risk losing everything. Where is the 'safe' option out of those two, exactly?
This is less about money and opening up your soul to the nation. What a dignified way to expose who you are, and if your lucky, expose those who have no heart.
This is great, I can tell almost every time which is going to steal and split. Just look at who seems the least awkward. I was positive the old lady would split and the young girl was awkward so I put her at 70% chance to steal. Then when the young girl held up her ball looking away I knew.
I used to watch this show but I always turned off at this point. It is hard to watch. Whoever came up with this idea to split or steal was heartless. The second the young one played the "kids" card I knew she was going to steal.
Yep I totally agree with you I noticed ITV stopped showing it after a short time, I just wondered if it was because people were turning off. Its a heartless show and made for very uncomfortable viewing.
I don’t see why there’s hate on the girl, at the end of the day she doesn’t know the old lady and the old lady doesn’t know her if she has the opportunity to win 93k then take it, i know i would.
I would have loved to have been on the show at the age I am now going head to head with a grandmother 100% I’d split but if they chose to steal and were gracious about it, good luck to them, like one of the other comments said let them enjoy their final years with a bit of cash under their belt 👌🏻 Miss this show
I thought it was easy to tell she was going to steal based on her facial expressions and how nervous she got kind of doubting herself when holding the steal ball... And when she said she couldn't live with herself if she stole, it didn't seem too genuine and overreacted...
Its obvious every time who ist going to splitt, and who to steal... but what can you do about it? Even when you already know you opponent is going to steal??
Maybe I'm just a bastard, but as much as I feel for this woman who seems like a lovely person, you are on the show to win money, why would you be honest, sincere and truthful on a show which literally punishes you for it?
I love the comments on these videos. Every other gameshow ends in a 'steal' scenario, this just mixes it up by allowing the players to potentially split the pot. Don't blame the player, blame the game. And according to game theory, probability wise, steal is always the best choice, just hope you convince them to split.
Why does she say she's sorry after doing such a despicable thing? Not only does she want all the money, she wants none of the guilt either: she wants to come out the pecuniary winner and on the moral highground: she's sorry and poor saint she did it for the kids. You didn't do it for the kids, not alone: she did it for your kids, which is a more noble gesture than yours. Nice way of removing the losing party's role from securing the moeny "for the kids": if she had also chosen steal you would have ended up with nothing. Would you have still said you did it for the kids, then?
Always choose steal. What's the worst that can happen? You either get the lot or nobody gets anything. Why risk the other person making a fool of you and leaving you empty-handed? You don't know them. How can you trust someone when you've never even met them? Never mind all of the stupid comments about being greedy or sneaky etc. That's part of the game. Anyway you could see it in the younger lady's body language that she had no intention of splitting. She could barely look the old one in the eye.
Once again proving that there is literally NEVER a downside to choosing steal. The only way this would ever be entertaining is if their personal info was published at the end of the episode for hate mail.
I feel REALLY bad for the old woman If I was a billionaire I would split my money with her unlike that big selfish coward who stole the money ARGHHHHHH
There is no reason to split. If you split, you have a 50% chance of winning HALF the money. If you steal, you have a 50% chance at winning ALL the money. If you both steal, it would have been better than someone stealing your money. You essentially can’t go wrong by choosing steal.
She stole nothing. The old lady had nothing, its the show, she played it well. It was never the old womans or her money until the final balls are open....she chose wisely and won.
@@bornyesterday8976 yeah I get so angry when I see these comment sections. That's like saying that not tie-ing with the second place person in a race so they split the prize pool is an asshole move, when it's not.
Can someone explain as to why you wouldn't always pick steal? Either way its a 50/50 that you're going to go away with money, but with the steal option the 50/50 win is double the amount. The only reason you'd pick split is to make sure that one of you goes away with money (and maybe out of the kindness to your opponent but then again it is a game) but in that case the one you're playing against has a 100% chance of getting money with 50% chance of them getting your money aswell which would be the worst outcome possible and is easily avoidable by just picking steal. There's literally no reason to trust your opponent and eitherway you pick there's a 50% chance that you walk away with money, but the steal option gives you twice the amount even at the cost of the one you're playing with which you really shouldn't care about since its just a game.
When she said "At my age" you could tell, she meant to help her retirement, she likely has kids, *and* grandkids. It would've helped toward retirement too. You can tell the £90,000 will go solely to her and she'll leave the pennies to the children.
I’ve noticed, you have to decide what a person is like and calculate how likely it is they’ll be greedy and choose steal, if you think that chance is high, you also pick steal, if you trust them, you have two options- split or be selfish and steal

There shud be third option called Catch
Where if ur opponent chose steal and u sus that u can choose catch which make ur opponent lose all his money and u go home with the half amount
Steal- Catch The Catch wins half and steal loses all
Split-Catch The split wins half amount rhe catch goes home with nothing for susing
Catch-catch both lose all the money
Rest all scenario is same
What I would do if I believe the opponent is going to steal is wait for them to pick up their ball and then pick up my steal and say "this is steal. I'll switch to split if you change your ball". If you were right then you should be able to force them to split.
Stole from an old lady.
What a great person
She didnt steal from anyone? It was nobody's money in the first place to begin with . Plus its more reasonable to steal and makes more sense imo .

Why is she apologising? She's not sorry, she intended to do this right from the start!!
She's uncomfortable sitting across from someone that close, whom she just lied to for a large sum of money.
Think about it - stealing always has the better outcome:
If you steal and opponent splits - you get all 90k
If you steal and opponent steals - you get nothing (but if your opponent steals, no matter what you get nothing).
But if you look at it from a selfish (aka business) POV, stealing will always have the same or better outcome for you - no matter what your opponent does
In the end, it doesn't matter what your opponent goes home with, it only matters what you go home with
@@nikplaysgames4734 It's not a better outcome. You're talking about screwing the other person over, not about winning the money. You're locking yourself in a worse situation if you both thought like that.
The order of results from best to worst is like this:
*You go home with all the money: Steal.

I couldn't tell for sure, but i wasn't shocked, it was a bit expected
I have found the perfect strategy, say you'll steal, then choose split, either way, the other person will surely get something, or split which is best.
Nah, lie good & steal. You either come away same or a lot richer.
I like how he made £93K sound boring, but £2 sound like the most intense match ever
This is proof of the lack of humanity and compassion between humans. You, young lady, are everything wrong with humanity.
You can say what you want, she still has £93,250 that you don''t have.
donkwich
Lol, yeah - too bad I put compassion and personal ethics ahead of money I make in a year of hard work anyway.
Alan TheArtist Doherty
Safe option? There is no safe option when you're playing against humans who are cunts. If you pick SHARE you risk losing everything to the other person - if you pick STEAL you risk losing everything. Where is the 'safe' option out of those two, exactly?
Awww the disappointment on the old lady’s face breaks my heart
Makes my blood boil when they steal, act guilty afterwards and apologise. Like, if you really mean that, you wouldn't steal in the first place

what a great mother laying a good impression for their kids
This is great, I can tell almost every time which is going to steal and split. Just look at who seems the least awkward. I was positive the old lady would split and the young girl was awkward so I put her at 70% chance to steal. Then when the young girl held up her ball looking away I knew.
I love how they record the show on a phone. Hits different.
well with a number like £90,000+ you can’t trust both of them to pick split. no way - humanity isn’t at that level of selflessness yet
Disgusting how she convinces herself that she did nothing wrong by saying that it's for her kids.
"Split or steal"
The only game you can win large amounts of money and not celebrate it.
All these videos about them "feeling terrible afterwards" i say bullshit!!! If you felt terrible then split the money with them after the show!
She has no obligation to do so, seeing as she played the game fair and square.
I enjoy Tipping Point and The Chase now. Also, Pointless on bbc is very good.
I agree with you.
It was a great show.
I genuinely would split. I would feel sorry for the other person.

I don’t see why there’s hate on the girl, at the end of the day she doesn’t know the old lady and the old lady doesn’t know her if she has the opportunity to win 93k then take it, i know i would.
I knew she would steal, notice her facial expression and how fast she was talking, it’s easy to tell tbh
ppSkittlz it felt like forced emotions.
I would have loved to have been on the show at the age I am now going head to head with a grandmother
100% I’d split but if they chose to steal and were gracious about it, good luck to them, like one of the other comments said let them enjoy their final years with a bit of cash under their belt 👌🏻
Miss this show
This show taught us life lessons
they need to bring this back
Why is the video fried?
I thought it was easy to tell she was going to steal based on her facial expressions and how nervous she got kind of doubting herself when holding the steal ball... And when she said she couldn't live with herself if she stole, it didn't seem too genuine and overreacted...
Even if it was for her children spliting it would still be enough for them
'Its for my children'. Oh, because 47k isn't enough!
I want to cry
Peggy has integrity.
if she really feels sorry, then she shouldve given her some thousands after the game
i didnt even watch or lsiten to them talk and i said to myself " the young girl is gonna steal" guess i was right!

At least she shows sorrow for the other person. Only person I think that stole so far that doesn’t deserve hate
Peggy (the old woman) later appeared on The Chase in 2011. She lost
bruh poor woman
There is no reason to split.
If you split, you have a 50% chance of winning HALF the money.
If you steal, you have a 50% chance at winning ALL the money.
If you both steal, it would have been better than someone stealing your money.
You essentially can’t go wrong by choosing steal.
"I'm sorry"
No, you dont. Your choice reflects that.
If this game was still going, I'd have one piece of advice for anyone playing. Always choose the steal ball and always pretend you are going to split.
BETTER IS OUTRIGHT SAY I WILL STEAL.
You realize it does not matter what you pick because if the other picks steal no matter what you pick you get nothing
Why u think they stopped making these
Split: you win half of it or nothing
Steal: you win all of it or nothing
And there it is - from a purely dispassionate, logical point of view, it makes sense to steal every time.
I hope everybody takes your advice.
Everybody should choose Steal.

I feel so bad for that old woman

I think that if they do opposite sides one has steal and the other has split and if it’s the same row then they both picked both of that one
