Antiquarian Pages for Junk Journal signatures

- When I decided to share my method for making these type of journal pages I struggled to come up with a name, I'd always referred to them as explorer pages however it never felt right, I did some research and the Cambridge Dictionary defines an Antiquarian as follows:
"Connected with the trade, collection, or study of old and valuable or rare objects"
I felt this was a perfect fit because all of us perceive value of an object in our own way.
I love making these pages and the options are endless, have fun with them, they make a great addition to a journal signature.
Happy Crafting

I just found you this past Sunday. I must admit that I am now addicted to your teachings and creative ideas. I’ve lost count of how many of your videos I’ve watched. You are a lifesaver. I am 80 years old and have some physical disabilities and can no longer quilt. I decided I was going to go back to scape booking and in the process of researching found out about Gelli art that led me to you. Thank you so much for your way of teaching and amping up my excitement to learning something new. I am forever grateful !
Wonderful, have fun in all you create.
Every once in a while you, Gayle, Rachel, or whomever, brings us an idea that is so “out-of-this-world” amazing that you have to drop what you’re doing to recreate it only to find three hours have passed and you’ve created this massive stack of unique works of art on coffee dyed papers and you simply can’t stop but it is 2 a.m. and you must get some sleep! I will be in love with this technique of creating Antiquarian Pages for all of my crafting days, Ceri. Thank you for bringing this sensational way of creating our own unique field note pages to our journals! I’m thinking of changing my name to Edith!!!
Lol......yup that’s what happens, I very often look up and it’s the early hours but these are so versatile and fun, oh and did I say addictive.
this!!!!! well said!!! ceri is a junk journal ninja!!!!!
Yep.
What a fantastic idea. I love your imagination about all the different people who could have made these pages. As always: thank you for a pleasant hour listening and watching you.
You are so welcome
As an amateur naturalist who has journaled, drawn, and collected on the many decades of my walks, this speaks to me! Thank you, Ceri!
Never worry about the length of your videos. So inspiring watching you work.
Thank you I try to keep to approx an hour as thats an easier upload time.
OMG, that "medical" page is MUCH MORE than INSPIRING!!!! I am addicted to British tv, esp. crime dramas, which of course leads one down the rabbit hole of "Victorian" crime dramas, and this page is sending me into another realm entirely! Combining this genre with a little "Michael de Meng"-ish will bring me to the absolute HEIGHTS of delirium!!!!!!!! I cannot thank you enough!!!! MWAH!
Wow, Jamie you certainly do have an imagination that can take this idea and run with it, congratulations and remember to have fun.
Love this idea! I will be trying it for sure!! Such creativity!! Thank you Ceri!!!
You are truly very creative and make an excellent instructor! I, literally, laughed out loud when your stamp slipped and you said,”Well, I guess that’s where it’s going”. That happens to me a lot. I dearly love this project. I learn soooooo many clever techniques from you.
I appreciate your “thinking out loud” technique.
Thank you Barbara.
I just love watching your channel. You’ve inspired me to try something new. My day isn’t complete without watching one of your videos. Thank you.
Thank you Joyce.
These are wonderful. Very fun and inspiring!
You did an amazing job here. It does look like pages Edith wuld have made in this day and age.
Thank you so very much for sharing. I really enjoyed creating along with you.
Thank you so much
I don’t always comment, but sometimes videos are just worth more than a “thumbs up” & This is one of those times. When I want to find a tutorial, I’ve begun to come and search your videos to see if you have one similar to what I want to learn about because you are very thorough and clear with your teachings and demonstrations. I never find myself asking “how” or “why” from your videos. You are talented and knowledgeable and I’m very grateful to you for your willingness to share your knowledge and ideas with the crafting community. I’ll be honest, these pages looked super in-depth and a little intimidating, but once you broke the process down and answered how and why you did what you were doing, I began to feel like it was something that could actually be done by ordinary people like myself. So, thank you very much for sharing the exact process with us in a step by step fashion. I think you’re truly a brilliant crafter/maker/artist! 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you Jennifer for such positive feedback, its good to hear that people are finding my videos useful, I love to share and I’m always open to making a fool of myself whilst trying something new….but then when it goes right the rewards are great knowing that I’ve made it easier for myself and others to create and stressed less through the process.
Ceri i am so glad i found your videos and i can't always afford kits and as i am new still trying too get ideas and you are magnificent person you have showing me i can make pages myself for a journal which i love what you do many thank . Jan from Australia
Thank you Jan.
These look amazing and each one will always be unique. Just the project to get me out of my slump I think. Thank you so much for sharing ☺️🤗💜
Have fun
Hi, I'm new to your channel and wow I love this idea, especially the coffee stain effect, you could make an entire junk journal with these pages and in a hundred years from now they'll find it and think it is an ancient text with pictures.,
This is just wonderful! I haven't seen anything this interesting in a long time..... I love to see old journals and writings like this. You are brilliant in all you create, and I thank you for sharing this with others.
Glad you enjoyed it!
"Griffiths? Did you put your coffee cup on my field notes?" 🤔
Beautiful work! Thank you so much.
Lol..........would I do that to you.
I just found my old childhood red bound Webster’s Elementary Dictionary in our basement. Let the masterboards begin!
Love these pages and their name. Such a great way to "showcase" so many of our stamps.
I love using what I’ve got around me I also love my stamps.
I finish my first journal, thanks to you. I love to watch you work and you're stories. Antiquarian beautiful.
Wonderful news Lucy.
I watch so many videos.
Watched this last night.
This morning, I've made a page.
Thank you for the inspiration
You are so welcome Birgitta
¡Excelentes ideas! Mil gracias, Mr. Ceri Griffiths.
Un saludo from NW of México 🌵🌼

Wonderful "Edith Holden" channeling! Beautiful! Much Love, Cathy
Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas!! I am loving finding your previous video's with new ideas to me. Such inspiration!! Thank you, again!
You are so welcome!
I’m not an Edwardian Lady, or whatever….but I want one of her books. I saw the interior on another video and found It breathtaking. Hope Santa thinks I was a good girl this year!
Fingers crossed for you.
Oh you’ve certainly given me inspiration and lots of good ideas for the first adventure into creating my ‘bits and bobs of my journey.’ Journal. I’m scribbling lots of notes from all your videos. Always a pleasure to watch and listen to you 😊 Maria
Thank you Maria.
I just saw Julie's version of your idea on Camilia Crafts Designs and immediately had to watch your original inspiration.
Brilliant work as always, Ceri. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
You’re so welcome Samantha.
Love, love, love this idea. I watched Gayle's version earlier this morning and immediately clicked her link to yours. I am working on a journal with an 1830s Cornwall theme as a present, and was having trouble finding pages that were just right for my needs. These will work wonderfully, because the journal is a tribute to a novel with characters who have interests in both art and nature. I have been thinking of you a lot lately, and hoping that the heat is tolerable where you are, and that your region is not one plagued by fire. If I had three wishes, one of mine would be to host a tea party for you and Gayle. Not much in life could be more fun than that.
Lol….thank you Sharon, the heat has gone for a little bit but we’ve been warned its coming back, I’ve not heard of to many fires here in the UK so fingers crossed for the next set of hot days.
What a great idea you gave me for making journals with characters from novels. I read a lot of books and the visions in my head of the characters, locations, situations, etc stay with me. I think these would be good prompts for ideas. Thanks so much!
Really like the gist of this idea, have no stamps but do have nature sketches that can inspire small background images on my pages. Thanks for the push to help me think outside my comfortable little box.
Sounds like a good plan.
I could watch your videos for hours! ❤
Better have a cuppa and a few biscuits with you if you do. Lol
How have I never seen your channel before!? Love these pages ❤ I can feel a binge watch coming on.
Yay! Thank you and welcome to my channel.
Loved the process of seeing these marvelous pages come together! Ceri your talent is unlike any I've seen on You Tube. Thank you for always sharing it with us.😊
Linda, thank you so much for your comment, I was blessed with a very creative imagination and I’m also inspired by many other artists on RUclips so I’m hoping to never run out of content to share.
My sister and I got together today to make some of these antiquarian pages to use in journals we're currently planning. It was so much fun and the final results were beautiful. They will add such a unique touch to our journals. Thanks again for the tutorial and for sharing your ideas.
Thats fabulous Susan thank you
Wonderful pages. You explain your process so wonderfully and make creating accessible in a multitude of ways. Creating your own pages is rewarding and fun.
Thank you Ann, art should be fun.
my absolute favorite....I say that all the time! You amaze me! Thank you for sharing your talents!
This is fantastic. I have so many stamps and I like making my own ephemera, so this is an excellent way to customize handmade journals, especially when they are themed. I'm brimming with ideas, thanks so much!
Fabulous, have fun.
Fabulous and fun with so many possibilities 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thank you Debra.
Absolutely fantastic, Ceri! Genius idea, my friend. You were looking to inspire and you certainly succeeded. Love, love, love! ❤️
Fantastic news, thank you Gayle.
❤️
Thank you for sharing. I just love your work and thanks for sharing your thought process. I spent this Saturday, relaxing and reflecting on themes I would like to see on the pages. I so appreciate your gift.
Thank you
Great ideas that are simple to use! I was watching Gayle Agostinelli the other day in which she was stamping script on a background. I realized that's a great way to add depth. However, I almost exclusively use printable images with my pages. I thought about what to do. I found an old letter written in script online with a solid color background. Using Photoshop, I deleted the background color to where I just had the script image visible. I layered it over the background I was using, decreased the opacity of the words and, bingo!, I had a background with a ghost image of script on it. Thank goodness for RUclips and channels like yours and Gayle's!
Fabulous
Simply enjoying all the inspiration, your awesome Ceri. ❤😊
Watched Gayle earlier today. Love all the different ideas. Thanks ❤❤❤❤
Fabulous
OMD! I LOVE these pages Ceri. Such a fabulous idea. Thanks too for the mention, and using my labels :-D xxx
Tracie, that is high praise indeed thank you, your labels were the obvious choice and my first when it comes to digital labels, you’re a fantastic artist and we all appreciate all that you do for our community. Please feel free to post a link to your shop and rag in this post so that others can find you.
Looking forward to your stamp storage solution.
So I am I
You fulfilled your aim, because you really inspired me with these pages. You could have even stopped before adding the colored pencils and they would have been wonderful. The pencils give a subtle, almost faded look, which fits with the antiquarian look.
Thank you, the coloured pencils just bring these pages to life for me.
Ceri, Lark here. I have a big stamp collection & I store them in 3 ring binders on my book shelf. I get the binders at charity shops for cheap. I bought a box of page protectors & a pack of white cardstock. Also either Mylar pages or transparency film to fit the pages. I removed the stamps from their packaging & separated them by topic. I mounted them all very closely on the Mylar & inserted them into the card stock-lined protectors. The pages are heavy so 2 pieces of cardstock helps. But then I make a label for the spine of each binder & put them on the shelf. Bonus is the Tim Holtz stamp pages don't need remounted. Just an idea...happy creating!
Sounds like a plan Lark thank you
Love this idea, another video giving me food for thought. Brilliant!
So glad
I love this idea, Ceri. I find myself wanting to use this on everything! Pages, greeting cards, corners. As others below have said, this is a unique idea, one I haven't seen before, and it is just stunning. Sparks inspiration and the desire to pull out all those stamps I don't use. Thank you, thank you, Ceri.
Thank you I love it and yes incredibly versatile idea.
Ceri, Thank you so much for your teaching today. I have been quite inspired by today's project.🎉
Wonderful!
Wow! Ceri, you have such awesome ideas! And these are very do-able! Even the idea with the coffee cup, simple but brilliant! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Fabulous

Thank you Lorraine and welcome.
Yes you certainly are inspiring with these wonderful ideas . Thank you very much for sharing them.x
You’re welcome Cher.
It's amazing watching how you create these pages, they're so charming and unique, as others have said "Love these" and "I've never seen this before." And I'll add my "I'm going to make some of them." So many ways to make them personal and use stamps I have but didn't know what to do with. Thank you for your generosity, sharing in real time, too.
I’m so pleased you finds it useful.
I love love love🤩 them, and the stories, I can see the people's walking into the fields whit their sketchbook, looking for perfect a sketch spot. Thank you Ceri.
You’re welcome
Thank you I am totally inspired 😍 after a 2 week funk I am back at my craft desk full of motivation to do a mass make of antiquarian pages 🤗
Fabulous news, have fun with them.
This reminds me of fieldnotes from old nature journals, very inspiring, thank you for sharing.
Youre welcome Veronica.
Love your videos, a quick tip for new stamps is to take a piece of fine sandpaper and scuff up the stamp lightly before using. It works for me every time. 😊
Thank you
THOSE ARE GORGEOUS!
Thank you so much for your time and expertise.
What a clever idea and you certainly have some fascinating stamps to create with 😊👍
Thanks so much! 😊

Just love the coffee stain rings and plasters of stains .
They just make it real for me.
Hello CERI, love your style . Right now im doing some Butterflies. I went and found my butterfly stamps after watching you make some for your stash. I would love some hot weather we have had snow and rain last 2 days. Take care.
Hopefully the new season is coming soon.
I have never done imaginative stories. You just drew me in, and I want to try expanding my imagination in this way!!!
Have fun with it.
I’m definitely giving this a go! I’m glad this video was recommended to me by YT! Thanks!
You’re welcome.
Oh I love this technique Ceri. You are brilliant. Thanks for sharing.😻
Thank you
I think this could well be my new favourite video! Great job! Thanks
Fabulous
These are sooooo pretty. Going to give them a try. I hope you show what you are doing with your stamp organizing. I’ve tried different things and haven’t found one that works for me. You would not like it in Florida right now… heat index has been in the lower 100’s. It’s nice to use the neighbors swimming pool since they are snow birds.🤣😂. Have a great day🌴
Lol……..yup I’m not really a heat person. The pool sounds nice. Yes I’ve tried several stamp storage methods and none really seem to work for me.
Hello from New Zealand. These are fabulous Ceri. This technique would be a great way to make faux specimen cards. I'm definitely inspired and going to have a play. Thank you.
Great news.
Love these pages for my junk journals! Inspiring video. Came to your channel after watching Gayle A do this technique. Tim H would like it I’m sure! I hope to see him demonstrating next week at Stampaway USA in Ohio USA next week.
Thank you Pamela, Tim Holtz is on my list of people I’d like to meet one day, fingers crossed next year for Creativation.
These pages are wonderful Ceri. They will really add interest to signatures and open up many opportunities to customize. Thank you for helping us spark ideas for our creative endeavours.
Thank you.
Recently I treated myself to a Tim Holtz deckle edge guillotine. Highly recommend. It was a great gift to myself.
Ceri, you have done it again ! Fabulous. I was struggling on how to make a journal for a friend who has many interests and loves gardening, horses and many other different things…how was I going to incorporate everything now i have the solution ! Just saw today you set an all time high temperature try to keep cool, I have a heat wave too. How can anyone NOT believe in global warming !! Hugs
Thank you, yup global warming’s definitely hitting us at the moment, hottest night on record last night….ever
Good morning Ceri....I just watched Gayle's video and so inspired by you both. It was so much fun to see the pages come together. Loved it!!!😁💕
