Adding To The INSANITY!!

After posting about the chicken coop build and our aquiring 2 hens- one of my good friends in Utah offered up 4 more hens, 2 roosters, and duck to me if I wanted them. Of course I did!! So I started figuring out how to get them down here. I ended up planning a whirlwind roadtrip. 36 hours from the time I left home till I was back again. I booked a family photo session to finance the trip up there. I was able to squeeze in family time. Seeing nieces and nephews that are growing like weeds. And I got to meet my newest little niece 😍 I was able to stock up on all our COSTCO essential. I saw a few friends fleetingly before I hit the road again. For the trip home we had the chickens in the trunk in a rubber maid tote with holes drilled in the top. The duck was my co-pilot 🤣 Kalvin and Talynn took turns holding him for the 5 hour drive home. The flock is all settled in and mixed well with our other 2 hens. They enjoy their days of foraging across our 35 acres, and are so good about cooping up at the sunsets. The dogs have been great at giving them space, and have only chased them a few times. We love how our little homestead is growing as we do things on a budget and DIY all the things 🤪
