Was in PZ for my fiftieth birthday mid-February 2014 - the winds and sea state then were phenomenal, sadly quite a lot of damage along the front. Believe a rock was thrown through the roof of the Dolphin just after we left!
@@cornwallguide Yup, got the bus back from St Just in the afternoon (14th?), as we came down Market Jew Street, I glanced down a side street and the waves seemed to be higher than us! We must have been at least 50' above mean sea level! I think there were several days of rough weather, trip down the previous day was very windy and wet, came down the M4/M5 rather than the A303. The Dawlish section of the railway was already out of action and the track at PZ station was flooded. A birthday to remember! 60 next Feb, might have to visit my home town again! 🙂

Pensans doesn't have much of a problem with tidal flooding - not compared with somewhere like Looe where severe flooding of the town centre is actually expected and planned for whenever a Spring (king) tide coincides with a storm surge caused by high winds in the "wrong" direction?
Pretty much the same along the Antrim coast this last few days. Lots of seaweed ripped up by recent storms. It’s all being thrown over the sea wall at high tide. 😬
Well it isn't really, is it... It's a big spring tide with strong winds and low pressure pushing it higher. If you think it's normal for the water to nearly top the car park wall or wash over the road then you really don't have a clue.
I'm from Penzance originally and remember as a Sea cadet parking under the Ross Bridge 30 odd Years ago in the pulling Boat so the older Cadets could have a sly cigarette lol those were the days wouldn't manage it on that tide lol😂
What the average rate since 1915 is irrelevant. Try telling your bank manager that your huge overdraft is irrelevant because your average balance since you opened your account is just as huge. Current rate of rise is 3.6mm/year. Penzance is safe for the rest of the century at least at that rate.
Looks like the sort of bay that a massive shark would find itself in while children play on inflatables. Where is the Sherriff? Where is the Chief?! Where are the large chested ladies wearing red bikinis while running up and down the prom in slowmo?
Any day is good for a swim in Cornwall!
proving the water temperature is just begining to cool after the summer
You reckon somebody drowned yesterday.
I can’t believe people are swimming in this cold weather
At least no high winds at the time of high water. Excellent shots
You've got some winds coming in the next couple of days, I hope this is the peak of the high tide otherwise they're going to be in trouble.

In all years living in Cornwall never seen it that high
I never saw it get this high...
It’s called a storm swell !

Standard big Springs , 5.7 ( 5.8 s in September) strong S Westerly’s pushing it up , tide dropping back as week progresses .
Pretty much. Low pressure and strong winds. Have to say I've only seen the sea wash over the car park wall once before though.
Wish I was there having a swim x
Blimey I wonder what was the water level over on the Scilies?
Cracking video Chris 👌
Thanks Treve. Was fun until I got wet feet!
Great footage! 👋
High tide tonight combined with an incoming storm doesn’t bode well. Brace!
Thanks. Just put up some photos of what happened 19 years ago with this combination... ruclips.net/video/6fl9BT9MDrA/видео.html

Lovely to see folk swimming

Free healthy snack 😂
Must be crazy swimming in high tide
Great filming
Aww, you signed off just as it was getting interesting.
Crazy to swim in that dirty water
Turned off the pumps again…
..Holy Moli ...
It’s just another high tide!

Sounds like just the sort of thing Martin Eddy would have got up to....
It's a proxigean spring tide...l.i.u...about every 18 months.
I have seen it like it before.
The children are having fun
Its that pesky full moons fault 🤨
We're doomed , doomed i tells ya.
The seas will recover what it's owed.....
Inches away from flooding? 36 inches by my reckoning!
Round here our curbing is no where near 36 inches high!
Wouldn't there be raw sewage in that water they are swimming in???
Not really. They cleaned it up years ago. It gets treated and dumped over the other coast now. Or at least that's the theory.
@@cornwallguide Yes, now it floats all the way over to my land in South flori duh. 🙄
What’s it going to be like in 10 years ?? !!
sea levels in penzance have risen on average 1.94 mm a year since 1915 so i guess it will be 19.4 mm higher 😁
Yikes!@@ceismulcastle
2033
Better for swimming?
