If you want to see what Porthleven looks like WITHOUT a big fat storm hitting it.
Then watch this peaceful edit here :) - ruclips.net/video/y1_81KqvPEM/видео.html
biscuitsalive, it used to be better during the stormy ⛈ season, because the grockles were back up north...
And that’s unfortunately changing now...
Ah, good ol' Porthleven. It always looks sort of dour there, in fair or stormy weather. I saw a piskie there once on that road that leads out to the pier/ harbour entrance😉, and I have lots of good memories there. Cornwall in general is wonderful, mysterious and beautiful, but some places there are really special.
+Norrin Radd. the grockles back up north laughing at fake news stories of sharks and "big" waves
Norrin Radd I guess their money is welcome though. Yeah?
Highgate Angel that’s because of the history of the place, the legends of pirates and of course the legend of King Arthur, the mystery of wizards, I would question your comment about seeing a Piskie I hate to break the illusion but I don’t think they exist, but you want to believe in them then go ahead. I live in Cornwall in a lovely little village called St Buryan, close to Penzance, a wonderful place, with wonderful people.
The small brick building that juts into the sea on this video is the old Lifeboat station. I was in there, along with 11 other people, on a stained glass workshop when this footage was shot. It was very exciting, with the waves crashing up the side and the odd leak through the windows, but we were all perfectly safe. Huge thanks to the Porthleven coastguard who called in on us to make sure we were alright. He was responding to a report that we were trapped inside but was pleased to see that we were quietly working away on our “masterpieces”.
Joan Hopkin cool place to be creative. :)
Isn't this where Doc Martin was filmed? Sure looks like it.
@@Khahngenwater No, Doc Martin was filmed in Port Isaac on the north coast of Cornwall :-)
Why did you go to do stained glass in a building next to the shore during a named winter storm? Why not stay home that day. Sure it was an experience but if something had happened you would have just sucked up emergency services needed elsewhere. Well at least you got to work on your stained glass , and you have a story for the wine bar.
Let's take a moment and appreciate the intrepid videographer for catchin' these scenes.
Thanks! Yes lots of running around in my van, and my camera got soaked. :)
I loved the natural sounds at the end, I love the music but nothing beats the sound of waves crashing
Beautiful filming. The light is fantastic... great work in keeping it all so clear. Bravo!
Ian Cognito many thanks! Yep lots of wiping seawater off of the lens that day. :)
This came up in my RUclips feed tonight. I was impressed when I first saw this. But 1.3m views.
That's astonishing. 😀
Slow burners. :)
Nicely put together love storms just not the destruction.
Me too
The first few frames of the church would make a lovely painting. Nice video.
Living in this part of the world is such an honour
How is that so?
rocker4577 it’s just really pretty and peaceful
I was thinking the same and then I saw your comment.
I agree *Cornwall* is so pretty, some of my favourite villages/ towns:

Brilliant footage. Thank you so much for sharing
LOVE this clip. So nostalgic.
Beautifully filmed, and for once appropriate music. Thank you.
Great filming - that was sensitively done and you just let nature do the talking. Amazing scenes!
Nery Rolando ruano pride f y n
Such a contrast between the north and south. I'd been watching webcams on the north coast and thinking it was looking really calm. The south was certainly getting thumped.
Graeme Simpson chalk and cheese. Felt sunny and happy on north. :)
Great video @biscuitsalive showing this amazing footage of the true power of mother nature. I can only imagine how difficult it is to capture steady imagery while being battered by such high winds. Keep up the great work, but please be safe while doing so. Sending good thoughts from California!
Some excellent footage
Marazion, Praa got whacked but man those waves in Porthleven were tremendous
Nothing more visually impressive than big waves hitting rock/concrete
Love Cornwall and some great shots here
The sea and the waves roaring!
Amazing. Brilliant photography
Thanks! I popped a playlist of my short film/edits if you care to have a look - ruclips.net/video/4AsoXT44xKg/видео.html
Great video, excellent footage.
Greatly captured, thanks!
Amazing how the Gulf Stream can affect the UK and can sustain tropical vegetation at that latitude.
Beautiful scenery
hypnotic video, congratulations!
Great videography... superb compositions.
Wow, splendid vid. Thanks
Always nice to have feedback. Thanks.
Excellent cinematography, very impressive.
Thanks!
Nice video. The scenery was so good. I wish that someday I can go there. ❤️
Very impressive shots! 👍
Nicely shot mate!
thanks
Beautiful Cornwall - nature at its best !
Beautiful film and sound track ;D
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Excellent Video, well presented. 👍👍👍
This storm is just a baby, in 1989 the waves 🌊 were up to the top of the town clock, and the houses on bay view terrace were washed away. And the blocks of granite(20tonnes or more)were ripped out of the walls and washed right down the cobbled road...
This place looks amazing.
Hats off to the Brits for building the best sea walls in the world❤
Jody in Seattle
There is only so long we can stop those waves crashing right over those the walls
Sea levels are rising
Land is getting smaller
with storm francis here i really hope to see people learning more about these storms
Praa Sands is the most beautiful place I've ever seen.
Ed, Where is that place exactly?
@@scringe1 around 3 miles from from Helston near by is porthleven, on a sunny day Praa Sands is a wonderful place:)
beautifully dangerous.Brilliant video probably the best music for the video and just brilliant all round. You sir are genius 👍
Kind words. Many thanks.
My gear (and me) got a soaking filming this one. :)
The music ruined the video. I liked the end of the video because I could hear the sound of the waves crashing ashore.
I was filming in 60mph winds. 90% of in camera audio was ruined by wind.
Next time, turn the sound off and place two seashells, one over each ear. This has nothing to do with Judge Dredd's three seashells, relax. lol

A beautiful video. And a good music choice 👍
Awesome 🐶
Taking a few screen shots makes for amazing backgrounds.
Nice capture of natures fury, slow motion at times, superb editing, Colin
Colin Prosser thanks Colin.
Great video 👍
Ayy I live right next to that clock tower and yeah, it was crazy. I could hear all of it from the house.
Im coming to yours for a cuppa 😂😂😂😂
What is it like living down there? We live up North. Its all hills, we basically live inside a giant sink. 😂
Hermosas imagenes, amo las tormentas!
I loves Cornwall because I live there 😍😍😍
Such a beautiful place!
Soundtrack is perfect.
Traveling to a place like this would be an amazing break from Virginia's humid summers.
Cornwall is beautiful, we’re going in 4 weeks, I’ve not been for ages, can’t wait!
@@stewdapples267 Lucky you! ;)
@@mostirrational tell your what, you can stay with my Mrs and babies for a week and I’ll come and stay in Virginia for a week 👍
@@mostirrational like an exchange haha
@@stewdapples267 All right, just remember to pack lots of t-shirts and shorts. Those are all you'd want to wear.
What a beautiful place, storm or no storm.
I want storm Ophelia back, I loved how powerful it was in Ireland, a gust of nearly 200KPH (125 mph) was recorded in cork
beautiful weather.
Beautiful but fierce! (BTW, a storm without clouds? Impossible here in Seattle....) Thanks for the great video. 😷💙
Seattle and the UK actually have similar climates, albeit Seattle sees a drying trend in the summer (whereas the UK generally does not). The Washington coast is even more similar climate-wise.
Cornwall also seemed to be within the storm's "dry slot" for a period of time, that would explain the lack of clouds. Please see this satellite imagery after the storm became extratropical (Ophelia was originally a hurricane over warmer waters to the southwest): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Ophelia_(2017)#/media/File:Ophelia_16_October_2017.png
@@BrandonClaridge Thanks for wonderfully informative & completely unexpected reply ❣ I learned a lot & am going to watch the video next. We hope to visit Cornwall someday. We've never been to the British Isles before - ironic as my great-grand was a British Marine. We also want to visit Guernsey someday.... Thanks again! Stay safe, happy, and healthy. Cheers from Seattle ❣😷😷🖐
Nice footage.
Nicely done.
Thanks
Never been to Cornwall. It looks stunning
I have, and I recommend visiting Lizard village, Housel Bay with its lighthouse and Kennack Sands near Ruan Minor. (About 45 minutes drive from where I stayed on Lizard Point.) The place we stayed was directly above Housel Bay, next door to the Housel Bay Hotel. (If you ever go down there, look for a place called Morwen.) You really need to spend a minimum of 2 weeks if you go, because there's so much great stuff to see! (Oh yeah, and you'll need your own transport too! Some of the places are a bit spread out!) Good luck!
Beautiful all the way 👍🏻
Very nice video. Wow
Beautiful Mother Nature ♥️♥️♥️
Love this place...not been for many years due to health problems etc. Hope to see Cornwall again before i leave earth..
U should its gorgeous
Great video ... thanks for using a sturdy tripod.
Harold Gillis thanks. Yes not easy in 50-60mph wind.
(Had a mate blocking the wind with his body too XD )
My gran lives there very blessed
Amazing power.
My Mum often talks about Porthleven from her youth. We also used to go there with her as children. There's something special about Cornwall. I guess it's in my genes 😊
Cornwell , such a beautiful beautiful place ., but I had no idea that they actually had palm trees there .
@@lenanoro5427 Yes palm trees and to be honest because we see them all the time I probably take them for granted. Plenty of palm trees and seagulls lol Luckily I'm quite fond of seagulls. I remember being told they were lost fisherman's souls 😦
How lucky you were to have been in such an enchanting place , that’s just how I would describe it . I live in South Florida & never take the palm trees for granted , they just remind me of peace and tranquility . .
Amazing how people nonchalantly walk through the streets!
Perfect choice of music, amazing. Where did you find the artist? Cant seem to find it anywhere.
Hey. That’s written in the description. :)
Hi, could make a video about cleaning the sensor and lenses in the gh5. Also cleaning the metabones speedbooster?
Thanks :)
Mauricio Murga Silva Santisteban I think I would have to be very bored to make a vid out of that. (Doesn't mean it won't happen XD)
But I just use a blower, a lens pen (for sensor) and those disposable ziess lens wipes. (For lens) then a basic lens cloth for final pass. (Wet lens wipes leave a tiny bit of residue.)
Plus I'm no expert. I may suggest something that a pro camera maintenance guy would frown at regarding sensor.
Last tip.
Obviously do all above using very bright light (I use head torch)
And in a low dust low air move meant environ.
(Close windows etc)
Mauricio, get a life.
If that were the California coast the jettys would be obliterated and the cliffs would crash into the sea. I guess England's coastal geological make up is pretty darn tough.
John Mac we’ve taken the Atlantic and regular south westerly storms for a ling time.
All the weak parts of our coast washed away along time ago.
Its the east coast that is weak, its all sand.
You guys have awesome seawall, in Florida were sitting ducks.....
all calm this morning
Anna W cornwall is exposed to regular south westerly storms. So generations of preparation for storms like this. Not to say we don't get overrun with floods and overcome by the biggest hightide storms though.
Anna W they deal with rough seas all the time thats why the sea walls a great
I hope all is better now? Rsvp?
Why does the background music remind me so much of H20?
I knew we could trust you to get some awesome footage. Amazing. Well done. Scares me silly to see the risks some people took in the storm though. I'm surprised there weren't deaths from dangerous behaviour.
There was in Ireland I believe. :(
agree annoyingly stupid
I would love to live here!
@2:03 there are two sea scallops at the surface near the bottom of the left side of the screen.
Would be great if we could have cold nippy weather here in this part of India where we live, if only for a couple of weaks more, coz it starts to get hot in Feb and then it gets sweltering in April. Is this a sub or just a video of a beautiful part of the country?
very nice! btw - where do you get your music from? any particular favourite site? cheers!
Thanks. mostly form artlist, subscription service, good value if you make lot of content.
Artlist - same here - probably i missed that song in the endless songsearching-sessions :)
Wow!
Actually the song theme is: What an Interesting Creature by Evolv
I live in North Florida; I just went through Hurricane Irma (which was a category 5 in the Caribbean and became a category 1 when it arrived up here in North Florida). Hurricane Irma caused a lot of destruction down here. I hope Hurricane Ophelia didn't cause too much damage in the British Isles - I hope it didn't damage or destroy any beautiful historic buildings or landmarks.
LGBT Pride Ireland got it bad. Few lives lost.
Think England Cornwall got just the edge of it.
When you say "got it bad"....how bad is bad?
loss of life is bad of course - I heard 3 people were killed.....what about the damage?
LGBT Pride yes lots of roofs gone etc in Ireland. Think they had 80-90 mph winds there. All calm again here in cornwall today.
Ugh, I hope they restore the damaged buildings as soon as possible.
Nice soundtrack
Waves have gone over the top of the church spire in past storms😳
I had a roast at the pub near there two days before the Storm
Cool man
The water looks so frothy and clean, but I guess the waves were too high and dangerous back then
Great music , sounds like zero 7
Yes, best enjoyed on tv or online. Living there, not so much, and it looks cold too. Brrr
The music is Evolv - What An Interesting Creature
please can you link the song i really need it
Chilled music over footage of stormy weather is the shit.
I love my home county
The Natur is GREAT
occasionally people got swept from time to time , and the body the body recovered few days later.
Nice place, I've hever been there.
Ma che meraviglia!!!!
Great footage...
Steve Lewis Video Channel. Thanks Steve
Whooow! I hope the buildings dont get damaged :(
RETRO Machines we saw some worse stuff when the camera wasn't rolling. Furniture getting swept out etc.
Really hard to film in those conditions.
Water on lens every few seconds, footage all shakey etc.
yesterday a school roof was ripped apart in ireland and 3 people were also killed due to different incidents caused by the hurricane.
Hype Edits crazy stuff. I'm glad I wasn't in Ireland for the storm.
Cool video, can you tell me what music track you used? Beautiful and relaxing :)
Fabian Bosman it's y artlist. I forget title. But will check and get back to you later.
(Tricky to get serious music that isn't overly dramatic IMO)
And still the church stands, as it has for many, many storms before. They sure knew how to build solid structures back then.
