[79] HP 15s-fq1000na - Keyboard not working

This laptop's keyboard was not working at all. The issue first occurred when the laptop was still under warranty, so they sent it off for a factory repair. It worked for a while after that, but then it stopped working again just after the warranty expired.
We found the keyboard ribbon cable to have a few creases and to be ill-fitting in the motherboard socket, so we did our best to re-seat the cable. (If it comes back to the shop for this issue, we'll credit the money spent on this repair towards the next one, which will likely involve replacing the keyboard altogether.)

Oh my goodness, THANK YOU for this in depth video. I was having a problem where some of my keys were not working and sure enough removing the battery and straightening the cable fixed my problem. I was browsing for replacement keyboards to do the repair myself. Saved me a lot of headache!

I noticed that there was no backlight on that keyboard. For some reason my hp15s-fq1001ne does have a backlit keyboard. My wife's hp15s-fq1037ne also has a backlit keyboard. Maybe it's because our has Arabic lettering also on the keys and that kind only comes backlit??? Nice to know about the fix just in case🙂

I did this and only the enter and backspace seems to not work. Any advice?
