  • Hi!
    No music. No talking. Just work.
    If you are taking your DELL INSPIRON 1764 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
    Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
    If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
    Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
    So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
    Have fun and good luck!!

    Thank you for this helpful video!! The inspiron 1764 was heating up. When i opened it up the whole heat sink and fan was covered in dust. 0% air could be ventilated out. I was so amazed how much dust built up.

    Thank you for this video. It made my disassembly cake, and actually kind of fun (instead of enraging).

    Thanks for this had a one of these laptops that was randomly turning itself off even during the built in Dell Diag. Found a massive dust bunny blocking the fan unit.
    Working fine now!

    Hi,
    you don't need to remove hdd and memory, but you will need to get out a few screws that are holding a black bezel that cover a keyboard screws (you will see in this video)

    i was having an issue trying to disconnect the power strip did you press down on the colored tab and remove it or did you pull it or did you just unplug the socket?

    Depend where you live, but in US usually all outlets are grounded. But I would not suggest to attach yourself to outlet. If you will find some bare metal part in your house like a water pipe or something else metal that touches the ground it will be fine.

    Do you recommend putting loctite on the screws when you put them back in? I can tell that they had loctite at the factory, just want to make sure it stays together!

    Hey, I noticed that you put all (or at least most) of the screws in one pile. Are all the screws the same, and does it not matter which screws go where?

    Thanks for the video man. Do I have to go that far to clean the air vents and the fan area? My inspiron 1764 has been over heating and shutting off by itself, and I cant clean it without getting inside. Any insight is appreciated.

    • @protheus123
      @protheus123 9 лет назад

      +topcityres Just done that today, had to take appart all the screws on the back, turn it, take the keyboard out, then unscrew the last ones underneath it... yep, too much hassle to just get to the fan, but it was worth it, the cooling works as new (well, close enough).

    After having tried changing the paste on the cpu, it didn't work, I tried with Cooling Graphite Thermal Pad and the same, have replaced the cpu fan, replace motherboard and the same, at the end, I check more carefully and notice that the CPU COOLING HEATSINK was bent and it is very hard to notice, and I decided to buy a remanufactured one. And FIXED, THE PROBLEMS GONE !!. Currently I change the CPU for an i7 and the memories to 8g. that CPU produces more heat and with everything and that my temperature now at 100 percent load does not rise more than 69 degrees. Previously, only when starting it, it turned off due to overheating when it reached 105 degrees.

    he good video i have a question
    i have an inspiron 1764 with a broken bezel ,i found a similar one on the internet but it says it is for DELL INSPIRON 1564 do u think it ll match ??(they are both 17.3")

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  10 лет назад

      Hello, I hope it is not too late, but I would suggest to buy the same bezel. For 1764.

  • @antikups

    dude do you know what CPU socket this laptop is using?

  • @s727r

    Pretty quick disassembly, impressed! I have a quick question for you, if you don't mind me asking, I accidentally broke the locker clip that holds the ribbon for the keyboard in place, when I was replacing the fan on my 1764, I now need to use my old desktop keyboard which is a pain as I use it for music production and really need my USB ports for equipment. Do you know of anywhere that stocks replacement lockers or whatever their called? Can't find any in Scotland.

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  8 лет назад

      First thing I would suggest is to place keyboard ribbon in to a socket and put a non conductive tape over it. If it will be in correctly, it should be fine. Cons here it can dry out because of heat and you will need to repeat. But you can give it a try as easy fix. Battery/power cord off and still careful about static electricity.

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  8 лет назад

      In some cases it is possible to replace these clips in some not. Sometimes you can find it on eBay. Search for "Dell 1764 clip for keyboard" or lock or ribbon lock, etc.

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  8 лет назад +1

      If you searched and didn't found any clips, you can take a risk and purchase a bad non working motherboard (contact seller regarding keyboard clip to make sure it is there and good) than you will extract clip and try to install in your motherboard. It depends, sometimes it's possible, sometimes not.
      Good luck.

      Jack P123 You will need to watch this or some other videos about that laptop and find a way of replacing speakers.

    • @regazzz

      Ouch, sorry about that. To remove a CPU you should unlock it first with a flat screwdriver. You may watch some other video where I didn't forgot to remove it :)
