Yesterday I 3-manned (I was heals) a DHT+13 after a DPS DCed and another immediately bailed. It was like playing World of Warcraft: Dark Souls Edition. Loved this video when it came out, but now with all the recent changes that basically *require* you to level via questing, this video is a godsend. THANK YOU BELLULAR
Thank you! This video actually helped me alot. I'm leveling my 1st alt, with looms, but that's about only thing I did right :D After watching this I followed your tips and could see the difference in exp gain and how the questing especially became more pleasant.
Very useful. Thanks! I wish I had it sooner (my 5 toons are at 50 now) but still very useful to me, and will be to many more players. I left Arathi, Feralas, S.Barrens, Westfall and Hinterlands because they were so slow, and you list them as slow zones, so it matches my experiences.
This is amazing! Thanks a lot for the effort. If there was any caveats to this, I would say the big factors in which should be considered (but probably can't without A LOT more work) are the quests that have bad drop rates and have long spawn times for quest mobs. I remember a bunch of quests from Duskwood, Stranglethorn and Arathi Highlnads that took WAY TOO LONG because the quest items I was after were not a 100% drop rate (more like 50%) and the quest mobs took forever to re-spawn while the quest zones were busy with other players. It was so painful, I actually wound up leaving a few of these zones because it felt like a huge waste of time. Now if Bellular had a list of all these quests, I would be like super freaking impressed ;-)
Great work. I think taking the difference between the most dense and least dense zones and giving every other zone a relative density compared to that difference would really help clarify the data. That way each zone will just be a ratio. It won't destroy any of the information

Yean and most of what Bellular said has been known since Cataclysm's release. I always level through Silverpine Forest and then Hillsbrad, always been the best two zones on Horde side.
Great video!! I found you get to 60 as alliance by clearing Elwynn Forest, Westfall, Redridge and Duskwood while sitting in the lfg as dps. They've reworked the quest order in Duskwood and added a flight path so it's not so painful to clear it up. It took one toon 12 hours and the other 14 but not rushing at all but in fully enchanted heirloom gear.
Leveling a new Nightborne recently, I started in Ashenvale (a bit slow) but then quickly moved to Felwood and Wintersprings which were both extremely fast. Not to mention all were back to back with easy access to Orgrimmar to boot. It was more than easy to reach 60 with random queues popping fast enough to reach 50 by end of Felwood.
For my Nightborne, I used /roll to decide where to go. There are so many places now, and the zones will last you many levels. I already have Loremaster so I don't need specific zones, but if you do, now is the best time to get them, since an allied race you intend to level can use the zone. One thing I did find funny. When I got to 92, I got tired of the overtuned rares and decided to JUST get the treasures. I cleared Frostfire, Gorgrond, and Talador. Then barely scratched the surface of Spires. I'm now convinced there is a completely pacifist route from opening your Garrison to collect your XP potion, to level 98. And I think it's optimal.
I like the line for Horde, it is pretty straight forward, not to mention it is all 1 consistent questline. I lved a Void Elf Hunter and it took 82 hours to get to 110 from 20. But I was all over the place for 1 to 60, so a lot of time went to traveling.
Didn't know I needed this video until now. Now that I've seen out, it's great. I generally choose levelling zones depending on the class in playing, so that it's thematically fitting. But I might mix it up a little this time and level my orc shaman through tirisfal glades.
Just a quick PSA! If you're a druid, then Vash'jir is a must. The buff you get stacks with aquatic form, making you go INSANELY fast and zipping around the map. I got from 80-85 from Vash'Jir alone (without dungeons!) in about 2h30-3h.
I've been finally taking the time to finish Zones that I have never finished since the Cata redo. In the past few weeks I've finished Redridge, Duskwood, Northern Stranglethorn, Cape of Stranglethorn, Arathi Highlands and Western Plaguelands. The worst for me was Darkshore because I started it on a mage before the pre-sale and spent 24 levels getting it done - and then promptly deleted the character (a Nelf Mage) that I didn't have room to keep. Right now my HT is in Azshara, NBE is in Ashenvale, LFD is in the Badlands, and the VE is in Swamp of Sorrows. This will come in handy, though, as they add more Allied Races.
Just a tip. At level 71 (maybe higher if you cannot do it) you can run through Karazahn raid and clear the Servant's Quarter until you are high enough to clear the majority of the raid. Just make sure you don't kill bosses so you can reset the instance. Did it on an Assassin Rogue got from level 72-80 in about an hour. By far the fastest bracket.
Did a void elf Monk with the heirlooms and stuff (also daily exp bonus with that class) this way - Westfall (since void elf started at lv20), Redrige mountains, Darkshire, Both Stranglethorns and with doing some dungeons meanwhile i was ready to go to Northrend. Borean tundra and Dragonblight + some dungeons were enough to start Pandaria. Jade Forest was enough to start Dreanor. Only did 1/3 of the shadowmoon quests + like 10 dungs and i was lv100. Azsuna and two invasions were enough to ding 110. All in total about 60 hours but bear in mind i read most of the quests, don’t skip scenarios, leveling some professions. It totally can be done in 50 hours and about the route - yes, Darkshire should be skipped in terms of leveling speed but it was super fun ^^ Actually never had so much fun leveling a char, the new system is awesome. Cheers and thanks for the awesome video.
Stonetalon so far has been the absolute fastest for me besides tanking dungeons. I think it's because there are only 4 quest chapters there but the quests give a ton more xp than other zones.
So over the past few months I have been attempting a leveling challenge, where I attempt to go 1-110 with NO dungeons and my only XP boost being heirlooms and the DMF. (I do this once a month on stream for charity.) Given THESE paramaters, What do you think of these paths are they good enough or do I NEED to learn the stranglethorn questing path, moreover how much time versus how much travel time is involved is saved by doing darkshore/felwood at the end. Alliance Elwynn complete Dun Morogh to 20 Loch modan complete wetlands complete westfall complete redridge complete duskwood complete Both PL complete Badlands (up to 3 vikings quests) searing gorge up to thorium point cleared swamp of sorrow complete blasted lands to 60 (if necessary) Borean tundra to complete Howling fjord to complete Sholazar basin to nesingwary quest complete Hellfire to 80 Hyjal to complete deepholm to complete Jade forest complete Valley of the four winds complete kunlai summit to opening of the gate / 90 90-110 as per normal Horde Eversong Woods complete Tirisfall gloades to 20 Silverpine complete Hillsbarad complete Ghostlands complete STV (both) complete Plaguelands (both) complete Badlands (up to 3 vikings quests) searing gorge up to thorium point cleared swamp of sorrow complete blasted lands to 60 (if necessary) Borean tundra to complete Howling fjord to complete Sholazar basin to nesingwary quest complete Hellfire to 80 Hyjal to complete deepholm to complete Jade forest complete Valley of the four winds complete kunlai summit to opening of the gate / 90 90-110 as per normal I am trying (1-60) to trim down travel time as much as possible (while still leaving time for breaks for eating, bio etc on FP) and therefore I am trying to stick to EK as much as possible right now my time to complete 1-60 (please remember again this is without any dungeons) usually clocks in around 20 hours and my old man body's endurance taps out at around 55 hours (I also do not use coffee or cafeine or energy drinks, just water) for the run. So far I have only made it to 83 in one sitting this way and I was hoping by changing zones I might make better time. I value any (constructive) input, also just wondering if you have those documents you showed on stream somewhere that they could be viewed (a google drive folder maybe) for planning my next run? Thanks for reading through my novel of a post.
Was this chart of yours made like this by research and trial and error, or are you just theorycrafting? Because if its actually good it might be a way to simply point out how to get 110 fast for people who are pragmatic and new, or just someone who doesnt have buddies to rush them.
I've just been going for loremaster lately and just leveled my void elf lock through a lot of the Kalimdor zones. The gaming experience itself was excellent. I didn't care that it was slow at times. Can personally affirm that Darkshore is insane, and I chose to work on Northrend rather than Outland because I'm saving that for my lightforged. A couple of notes to be said though, Icecrown is great but has a lot of 5m group quests. Fjord lasted me like 8 levels, it was pretty nuts too. Even the zones which were boring in the past aren't horrible now with the new scaling. Even Desolace (lol).
By doing dungeons as a DPS by queueing the whole time and completing every quest in the jade forest I got from 80-87 in one zone and really enjoyed the story!
More importantly is how the quests send you across the zone. Zones that escort you to different villages reduce your time significantly by spreading out the hubs where you turn in quests. This is why a zone like Stonetalon Mountains looks middle of the road by density, but is a breeze to take the hot air balloons to all the quest hubs. Then there's zones like Winterspring that look dense, but with a majority of quests coming out of one hub, you're zig-zagging to and from every quest objective and it becomes very reliant on hearthing. Despite that this list looks pretty good based on my experience with the zones so far, as I've been taking every allied race to Silverpine. Also it looks like some of your Horde data is missing, ie Dustwallow Marsh and Blasted Lands. And Azshara is in the wrong column?
I did ALL of Borean Tundra (With random DPS Dungeon Queuing) And got 11.5 levels out of it 60-71.5. So DEFINITELY finish your zones including side quest hubs. It definitley worth it.
On my Lightforged Hunter I went Darkshore, Ashenvale, Stonetalon, Southern Barrens, Dustwallow and hit 58 before I finished Dustwallow. Around 7-8 hours of gameplay, with only like 4 or 5 dungeons sprinkled in there.
Interesting. I am curious about zones like searing gorge with lots of content under the surface layer get calculated? I'm also curious if you took into account total quest XP for each zone? For instance if a zone has a lot of go talk to these people quests which give low xp that could skew the pixel to quest number ratio.
someone probly already mentioned this, but as a footnote, i feel like it should be noted that if you are on a PVP server, you should skip stranglethorn all together because of rampant ganking. it will slow you down immensely. hope that helps some ppl :)
The fastest way is the route that you already being through. When you know where are the mobs, quest item etc are, you can complete it faster than the quests, thats you've never seen and did.
U will enjoy every zone u step in, if u try. Im rolling/questing in outland. i never thought i was going to have so much fun in a continent i used to hate
Again, like so much is said, it only is enjoyable 3 or 4 times. What they need to do and make all of the game scale so we have an actual choice. 1 to 60 is amazing because you have so many zones you can go to, but once you get to 60 to 80, it just because bad. It took me 82 hours of play time to level an allied race from 20. It could have probably been reduced since I jumped all over the place till i got to 60, but once i hit 60 to 80, it more than doubled the time it took me to get to 60 and then once I got to 80, it only took 15 hours or so to get from 80 to 100 and then a few invasions for 110.
Gaston Rodriguez lol sorry to disagree. I've quested through westfall about 100times and it's still a pain in my back side just because it's so boring.
How I leveled my Ret Pally worked pretty nice for me for 1-60 I did Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood, Hinterlands(dear god), Eastern Plaugelands, Redridge Mountains, Blasted Lands, And Badlands whole queuing for dungeons the whole time, which took about 20-30 min each on my server for dps. For 60-80 I went to Northrend and did icecrown and dungeons just cuz and after that 80-100 was incredibly easy. I got 80-90 in a couple hours by doing Hyjal with a friend and Vashjir because even though its kinda slow it has a great story and is a beautiful place. Loved the whole thing. Then I went to dreanor and just did my alliance starting area of Shadowmoon Valley and my garrison while doing a bit of questing in gorgrond. After that everyone knows how to level in legion got 0-100 in about a week and had a great time
@BellularGaming I know you've done a lot of work already but could be get the recommended routes for horde and alliance in a written guide too? Just to make it easier to follow whilst levelling
Hello, I noticed that Ghostlands (and the Draenei starting area) isn't on your list. I am wondering how those stack up against some of the other areas.
ANorthernWraith if you are playing a draenei they are superior. There are a lot of race locked quest chains though (some of these have changed a little while ago but I understand that a few remain race locked). It is only efficient if you have a plan and a path though...there's many quests worth skipping. Usually I do the kill gather quests around Azure watch try and hit LVL 8 and do the furbolg totem quest (which nets a massive amount of experience very fast). Do the kill quests it leads into, kill a cat on the way back to Azure watch for a fast turn in and you should be close to LVL 10 when you can do bloodmyst. Don't do the human quests in the south. Do the furbolg quests in the cave if you must. Don't do any on the nelf island to the south west. You avoid all cutscene and escorts that way. Bloodmyst just gather all quests in the zone and do them in chunks. You can generally avoid the island in the north east, moonkin area and spider area in the north west. I usually also skip the demon camps because the chances of having respawns and pats effect your leveling is pretty high. The final quest chain to kill the reactor and demon boss is high in XP even if it works like an escort.
One small criticism I have is your method of calculating area. You favour thin long zones over circular ones as thin zones give a smaller area but the travel time of a circular zone is likely less. I would have smoothed our the edges (I.e northern Redridge mountains) such that you’re essentially connecting encompassing vertices around the edge of a zone as this may have given a more representative area in relation to travel times. Still though, I appreciate the effort.
Felwood has good density, but it is KEY to change hearthstone to Wildheart Point before going into Jaedenar. The portal at the end of that chain is bugged and you'll have to either fight back out for 10 minutes or hearth and fly.
Ok Px/quest is fine, but what about additional variable. The amount of quests you can do in parallel without going back to town. There are some quests that you have to run back and forth with and some zones allow you to take bunch of quests and do them simultaneously. That's an important factor in my opinion when it comes to questing.
┐( °ー ° )┌ I'm a Pelican exactly, and more, like in some zones they have lot of quests sending you to talk to someone and it rewards bad exp. Lot of variables but this is just another one. If you know that zone layout is crap and it will take ages to go there maybe skip it fir slightly less dense zone.
I'm realy curious about the results, because combination of these approaches could Give us quite reliable data. It might not be even so hard to do so (which means it would take like a month to do:)), but all of this depend on how good is Wowhead database up to date.
Is there a text form of the leveling guide? Great video, just kinda hard to keep up with everything and being able to look at the text would be helpful. Great videos, helped me get back into wow
I agree with 90% of this. However after leveling through both, Outland via Hellfire-Nagrand-Sholozar is much faster than the other Wratch zones imo. Try this path Bellular and let us know what you think.
Wait....Does the Burning Crusade expansion starting zone for Blood Elfs and Draenei not use the same level mechanics now? I thought those would be great places to get experience?
I thought the best way to quest level is to look for quest clusters while you queue for random dungeons or specifically select dungeons that still have quests to complete.
You also need to consider how dense mobs are, how annoying quest objectives are, how linearly you move from quest giving zone to quest area...how easy it is to walk places... etc. The cape of stranglethorn looks good on that list, but having just got loremaster while leveling allied races, it was one of the most tedious zones. I would say that Wetlands and the Southern Barrens were actually fantastic, even though they look less than ideal by the video's criteria. They were _very easy_ to traverse and you move through the zones in a linear fashion that doesn't have you double back and run 600 meters to a quest hub you've already been to.
What is the name of the addon that gives your character sheet that look? It looks amazing! It's at 4:36 in the video. I've been transitioning in to getting more immersed in the game and playing on a controller because of you.
How long do you think it'll take to level using this method with looms & everything? I hate leveling so I want to know how long I have to put up with it. Ty!
His Ultra/max’d graphics look exactly similar to my own max graphics. I could be wrong but maybe the fact that he’s using a “flying tool” and seeing the land on a grander scale is subtle-y enhancing the world in your eyes?
@@Outplayedqt No, I'm almost certain he's using the WoW Machinima Tool. It's against ToS, but certain people get special privileges to use it and not be banned for it.

Can we get this for alliance pls lol
now can someone do this for alliance also.
For alliance:
General:

- Kill those rares (NPC Scan recommended)
- Heirlooms for max deeps and exp. Get the flight point one, probably more important than the others for speed.

- Maybe do 2 starting zones, or do 1-5 then grind to 15 for dungeons (I think this was for tanks and heals, I didn't really catch it.
1-60:

Elwynn Forest
Westfall
Redridge
Stranglethorn
West plaguelands
Eastern plaguelands, go to light's hope and find the goblin that will teleport you to badlands
Loch modan
Darkshore(Note: Can skip to this part of you feel you'll hit 60 before getting here, Darkshore has the best exp/hour)
Felwood
60-80:
Northrend >>>>>> Outland xd
80-90

90-100:

ThisIsAnte The quests are so clumped up together too. It's great!
The amount of quest there were a godsend
You are one of my main sources of WoW videos and I await every upload! Good Job with all the hard work you put in your videos!
Damn, that's some real effort put together to make a video. Awesome job!
Dude, you deserve a like just for the effort alone!
Just a quick PSA! If you're a druid, then Vash'jir is a must. The buff you get stacks with aquatic form, making you go INSANELY fast and zipping around the map. I got from 80-85 from Vash'Jir alone (without dungeons!) in about 2h30-3h.
Wow brilliant, thanks for doing all the homework! Just did Winterspring, that went pretty quickly - and it comes with a mount quest
Hey, lets keep advertising this so Blizzard nerfs it. Ugh, shut up already.
Keep it up, so that we cant use it no more.
If they havnt nerfed it yet its probably not going to happen. Theyve been pretty quick with their nerfing when it comes to leveling
Nah i'm pretty sure its just low key hidden.
It's getting fixed in pre patch with stat squish.
amazing video Bell , the amount of work u do is astonishing! gratz man , u just got another patreon!
I've learned a lot from you, thanks for the tips! I know you put a lot of thought and effort into all of your videos. Great job man
“I generally tried to be smart with it...” I... I would hope so.... lol. Really good video though. Thank you.
Cheers mate! Solid path. Always thought kalimdor was slower, nao Bell has proven it with SCIENCE
Every time i get a Bellular notification i stop whatever im doing... i have yet to be disappointed, nice work Bell keep it up!
Interesting video. Good job Bellular!

I am trying (1-60) to trim down travel time as much as possible (while still leaving time for breaks for eating, bio etc on FP) and therefore I am trying to stick to EK as much as possible right now my time to complete 1-60 (please remember again this is without any dungeons) usually clocks in around 20 hours and my old man body's endurance taps out at around 55 hours (I also do not use coffee or cafeine or energy drinks, just water) for the run.
I LOVE YOU BRAH! Gonna test that horde route right now!
By doing dungeons as a DPS by queueing the whole time and completing every quest in the jade forest I got from 80-87 in one zone and really enjoyed the story!
thank you:) I am going for the loremaster atm though but that’s a great vid for my alts:)
I love the data that you put in, anyway you could make a full list public with the numbers for 1-60?
I thought this was a video from the Game Theorists. Great work as always!
Cheers mate, thanks, was looking for something like this!
Thx for the video! Is there a written list available as well?
even if it is not accurate, he put a lot of work into this. that alone makes it a great video, thanks for your work bellular!
Bellular made a video? Now there´s something that happens every day.
I really appreciate all the work you put into these videos man, Keep it up!
This is amazing i love your dedication and curiosity
Gotta love those quality wow videos from Bellular!
Can you post something in the description just saying what you think the fastest route is for each zone? Great video
The fastest way is the route that you already being through. When you know where are the mobs, quest item etc are, you can complete it faster than the quests, thats you've never seen and did.
No. The best route to take is the one you enjoy the most. If you enjoy yourself while leveling you will level faster.
U will enjoy every zone u step in, if u try. Im rolling/questing in outland. i never thought i was going to have so much fun in a continent i used to hate
Yeah but i hate all of it
Again, like so much is said, it only is enjoyable 3 or 4 times.
I enjoy when I get to Pandaria-Draenor-Legion, sort of.
After that everyone knows how to level in legion got 0-100 in about a week and had a great time
LMAO JUST BUY A 110 BOOST LOOOOOL
CatDany [Asmongold Highlights] except then you don't get those sweet, sweet heritage armour sets...
what blizzard wants, seriously only reason to level alt now is for heritage armor for allied toons
XD
4Head
Is that the real CatDany?
Been like that for years and years now, I don't think it's worked since about 2011.
There is a portal in booty Bay that goes to the plaguelands? Where is that one at?
Problem there would be that this kind of data would be nearly impossible to generalize or even attain without completing Ally and Horde Loremaster.
Truly the work of a madman. Great work!
Prepping up leveling ideas for my future Dark Iron/Zandalar toons
THx a bunch my dude!
3:50 is the only thing you are here for.
damm right it was. nice revelation i guess
so the lowest density is the fastest zone to lvl up right? he just didnt say that, but im guessing :)
So I could just spawn random dungeons once again? Like it was before 7.3.5? Will I get enough exp like questing? I plan on leveling up a tank.
Great Video Bellular! Looking forward to get my Voidelve priest on 110 :)
this is literally what I was looking for last night!
Where can I find these addons to use, or a similar ui I like the clean crisp look.
What UI addon are you using with the shadow priest? Thanks in advance!
Hi Bellular, Where can I find spreadsheet with data?
I would appreciate if you could post in on google sheets. Thanks.
Wow this is the exact levelling route I used on my hunter, neat
hope the Kara grind didn't get nerfed its best place to farm 70-80 it only takes like 1-3 hours matters by your class and its great exp
kyotheman69 last week it have been working. I leveled my ret 71-80 there and after that just cleared it for fun. Almost got to 81.
3:55 is the information we are looking for for quest density and zones.
This is so helpful for heritage armour, thank you!
glad allied toons start at 20
kyotheman69 saves wasting time in starting zones, shame we still have to do WOD 😂
Does the LF Dranei 20% bonus XP make it faster to do Outlands instead of Northrend or are they roughly the same?
Awesome video!
Do you mind have the better places write down in the video description?
You also need to consider how dense mobs are, how annoying quest objectives are, how linearly you move from quest giving zone to quest area...how easy it is to walk places... etc. The cape of stranglethorn looks good on that list, but having just got loremaster while leveling allied races, it was one of the most tedious zones. I would say that Wetlands and the Southern Barrens were actually fantastic, even though they look less than ideal by the video's criteria. They were _very easy_ to traverse and you move through the zones in a linear fashion that doesn't have you double back and run 600 meters to a quest hub you've already been to.
Hey can you give a list of the add-on you used please?
What is the name of the addon that gives your character sheet that look? It looks amazing! It's at 4:36 in the video. I've been transitioning in to getting more immersed in the game and playing on a controller because of you.
thanks for putting this together :D
How long do you think it'll take to level using this method with looms & everything? I hate leveling so I want to know how long I have to put up with it. Ty!
How do you manage to get better WoW graphics in your videos that I get in the actual game? Are you using a retexture or any graphic enhancing mods?
His Ultra/max’d graphics look exactly similar to my own max graphics. I could be wrong but maybe the fact that he’s using a “flying tool” and seeing the land on a grander scale is subtle-y enhancing the world in your eyes?
@@Outplayedqt No, I'm almost certain he's using the WoW Machinima Tool. It's against ToS, but certain people get special privileges to use it and not be banned for it.
If im a lightforged draenei, should i go to outland because of the demonbane passive?
is this written down anywhere? I'd like to have it for reference when I level again :D
Hey yo what about belf starting zones...any worth noticing? I think they should be quite low quest/pixel ratio ;P
Hey what's the name of that addon that creates a little health bar under your character while in combat? :)
I love the fix to leveling! I can enjoy every zone i quest in now it its pretty smooth
did rdf exp get buffed? I didn't know this
how big of a buff was it?
Jade Forest alone got me from 80 to 90, with only needing to do ~15 quests in Kun-Lai, though I had popped a couple XP potions along the way.
Hi can you give us a link to the path written down?
@BellularGaming Hey can you release these numbers as part of a spreadsheet?
It would be interesting to see with the new level squish.
