I'm partial to John Cleese myself. He always stood out to me, both in height and performance. His ability to keep a stone face during sketches is incredible, not to mention just how intelligent he is. I'll bet that he is a joy to talk to. I hope to one day.
Monty Python's world view and knowledge level is at a university level - nearly all US comedy represents a high school level of knowledge, except Frasier. And it used to be better. In the 1960's and early 70's there was at least an assumption of knowledge.
I honestly have no idea who any of the people they’re referencing are and I don’t think it even matters. We know it’s supposed to be absurd; hell, you could breeze through random names on google and briefly/casually mention how the late great Guillermo Gomez Pena had to exchange his endangered halibut in the name of modern science
We watched some of this in archaeology class today. Yes in a real university. With a real professor. And not some half-rate Nordic professor either, but one who has slept in a tent on an expedition and dug trenches with actual archaeological excavation implements!
i love arcgeology today.i had that song john clese si ngs stuck in my head.here in america we dont have comedy like this.i like american comedy but british comedy rules. Thank emsr for uploading. Monty python is one of my loves lol Smile.God loves you
ack this sounds so dark. I love how micheal keeps getting excited over height, then it cuts to the dig site and terry jones wonderful bass being synced by john.almost fell out of the chair lol
EXACTLY!! Damn you, Monty Python, for being so friggin' awesomely funny that I can't do anything else at all.. (ok, sorry sorry sorry I don't mean the "damn you"...)Monty Python FOREVER!!
I watched all the seasons and all the movies in a single week and I've been watching them staying up all night long while playing nes ... 11 o'clock is just Normal
hmm, that could be possibility. ahaha, ironic, we see great special effects nowadays and then i see this old show and i wonder how he did such a stunt.
Sir Robert Eversley makes reference to Tutankhamun in a sketch that is supposed to take place 2 years before the discovery of the boy king's tomb. Just sayin' is all...
As always I am wondering if the Python’s just made a harmless jest about archaeology or if they did intent to satirize the importance men place on their body height, as it is often noticed that small men do have some certain complexes and mental problems because of their shortness, which causes them often to be mean and power hungry evil dwarfs; a phenomena often seen in history, where some of the most wicked persons have been quite small. But the Pythons were ignorant of what they are doing.
How you can think for a second that the Oxford/Cambridge educated authors of such intelligently written sketches were ignorant is beyond me. Except maybe for the animation, very little of their work is random (a trait that could be valued so inexplicably highly only in the 21st century). Sometimes it's subtle, but all of their show/movies are brilliantly conceived comedy. If they were just lucky and didn't really know what they were doing, would it still be funny over 40 years on? Think about it
@rsalisb I agree it takes more than sleeping in a tent, -it requires at least 6'6" to be a great archaeologist and don't tell try telling me that any of the professors at the Institut for Antropologi, Arkæologi og Lingvistik at Aarhus University measure up. I have it on good authority that Aarhus academics tend to the weedy side. (And if you hadn't realised from the first comment- on a Monty Python video no less, that it is all very silly I suggest you go read something completely different.)
That little tune that plays at 2:19 is a sped-up version of "Black Bottom" which was very popular in the 1920s.
Love how most people are mad for Palin but I'm definately in the Eric Idle fan base, sooooo cute and lovely voice too!
Eric is my favorite too.

@crookedstar9 If you're one who prefers drama, there's sport.
I just saw this episode the other week! By far one of my favorites.
"I'VE HAD HALF OF NORWAY!!"
Does that mean... That I could be related to Terry Jones?
Awesome!

Gosh I do enjoy being tall.
I've got nothing to do.
It's Terry J. singing. John's lip-syncing.
todaaaaayyyy!!
Sir Robert Eversley makes reference to Tutankhamun in a sketch that is supposed to take place 2 years before the discovery of the boy king's tomb. Just sayin' is all...
And now for something completely different....
Let's not forget Terry J.'s song against racism, "Never be rude to an Arab."
the tall vs. the short. lol
It was probably done in reverse.
I must say, if that is John Cleese actually singing, he's a pretty good singer.
It's Terry jones
im going to take a wild guess and say "today"?
@Crusader1987 what happened to season 3?
And of course theyll be sport
You cut out the best part at the end when they all get on each others shoulders and fight to the death and destroy all the relics in the process.
i do what i like because i'm 6 foot 5!
TOOODAYYY!!!
Totally maaaaad 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Realy? Wow i knew terry had a great voice but such a great voice>? Wow! I always thought john sung pretty good!

8 foot of solid Watutsi!
Why does it feel like there is a cut scene between the "list of upcoming programs" and the opening song?
@Hoogahoogainsano what channel?
=*insert useful comment here*=
Is there a clinical term for an unhealthy sexual attraction to tall people?
I have nothing to say except that I have nothing to say.
where is the "It's" man?
I'm 5foot 5inch.

I really doubt it.
I'm 5'9'' and now I'm sad.
Carol Cleveland, a sex symbol?
Heck, yeah!
***** Carol wasn't in the seduced milkmen sketch from series one, but she did sex up the movie version about eighteen months later.
Beat me to it. The actress in that episode is Thelma Taylor.
it's only a model.
CorCo4dia
The great thing about these comments is you can`t tell how tall I am. I could tell you I`m 7` tall, even though I`m only 4`9" ...damn.
