Though beautiful, Jacksonville has really high taxes. Love Eagle point, so patriotic. Medford has lots of coffee places. Ashland is beautiful and very artsy, especially Lithia Park where you can here and watch interesting musicians. Central point has great gardening soil (bottom land). Sounds like a great place to live. Oh wait, I've been here for almost 6o yrs!
Hello, folks. [First, a joke] I'm shocked that Klamath Falls (KF), Or. isn't on the list?!? Just kidding! My parents brought me to KF back in the mid-1960s! I've been in KF off and on since the 60's. I went to college in Ashland, Or., studying Criminology (I was a Police Officer there; I couldn't afford to live there, though). Now, KF has been sort of rough at times, over the years (it's my home, though)! I still live in KF, now. I know Medford well!. I'm 70, so I'm not thinking of moving to a new place. I worked in Portland for a while, and I sure don't want to live there!!!!! Some of the people I know expressed a desire to relocate to Florida or Texas!?! I can't see the sense in moving to either place! I tell people not to do anything hasty! Yes!, we can find pros and cons for just about any place in the USA. This isn't the time (economically) to try to find greener pastures! Housing prices are way too high! Interest rates are up, etc.! My thoughts indicate waiting until sanity at least tries to return!?! Meanwhile, I'll work on riding out the economic storm in KF! Thanks for the good reports and opinions! Take care, Best Wishes, and as or if applicable, GOD Bless! From MBJR. RCTM. 6-4-24 at 1:07 P.M. lol..I moved to klamville 17 years ago…I’m happy here…still a relatively small town…definitely no crazy traffic…it does get dang hot tho..n being older..woohoo…I need water!
This video is so helpful! Southern Oregon is on our retirement list of places to live. You’ve increased my interest even more after seeing this video! Thank you!
This is a very comprehensive video - thanks! My wife and I are thinking of Oregon, whether along the coast or in the Rogue or Willamate Valley we're not sure.
Thank you! Whenever you're ready to chat, I'd be happy to share some thoughts and info with you guys about the different areas. Just give me a shout at 541-954-7758
@@BuyingSouthernOregon thanks! We're still 3 years away from retirement, and will be checking out many places, including the greater Medford area. Our priorities are: health care; climate; amenities (i.e., Walmart/Target, Lowes, etc.); quiet; natural beauty; and the arts. I've checked out Salem before, which was an option a few years ago for me.
Go to the coast! Walking on the Oregon beaches is a gem! Weather can be intense in the winter. Ashland is the best in the Rogue Valley! Lived there for 35 years.
All the towns on the list are what most Oregonians refer to as "The Medford Area". All 5 are with 10 miles of Medford and 3 of them have grown together so the only difference between them is a city limit sign.
I agree, these are all "The Medford Area". One of the only two places in Oregon that you have to smog your cars if you want to buy tags for them. These are all in Jackson County which has higher taxes.. Would rather live in Gold Hill, Rogue River or other area outside the car Smog boundaries. Josephine is cheaper taxes.
You skipped the “villages” of Talent and Phoenix. Small town feeling, sensible growth, less gentrification but some great eateries and local festivals nestled between Ashland and Medford. Way more bang for your housing buck compared to Ashland too. These towns are where the actual artists and musicians often live.
That's not even close to accurate. There are homes in Jacksonville in just about all price ranges. It is one of the most expensive parts of Southern Oregon, but it's very affordable compared to other areas on the West Coast.
My wife wants to retire in Medford in 2026. I'd rather not. I would prefer somewhere much warmer. Actually the desert. We'll probably move there. Essentially, a cultural desert for old school Chicanos.
Klamath Falls is a larger version of Burns with more stores, more houses more people and nothing to do. Overpriced and people doing drugs. Oregon just has everything going against it, shame it is a nice and purrdy state but mismanaged. Now make sure you all get out there and vote for KAMALA AND WALZ😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉

Excellent content, as usual. I feel like I can get a good feel for the area and what’s a potentially great spot to peace out.
Thank you so much! Please reach out if there is anything I can do to help. My direct number is 541-954-7758. Call or Text.

@@BuyingSouthernOregon I’m most interested in homes with a view. I’m open to a variety of nature views. Thanks!
Excellent video! I can’t wait to get my home in 3-4 months! 😊
I'm from Roseburg, I love my Roseburg. I do have a lot of family in Medford two miles from the Interstate 5

Jacksonville is wayyy tooo expensive. You have to be a multi-millionaire to live there.

No water for ag, but the golf courses are always green! Grrrr
Eagle Point golf course is watered by natural runoff and then heads out to the Rogue River. Great drainage engineering.

We’re in Eagle Point, the Rogue Valley is 90-100 degree plus in the summer. Love it!
I heard that Sanity will return in 2100 when someone pushes that big red button and those pretty fireworks come out of the ground🎉🎉🎉
Who can afford Jacksonville???
If you are living on retirement $$$
😊
Yeh you can buy a house for $40 it is called a tarp or tent to others😂😂😂
