I am a 72 1/2 year old woman, who loved the sixties Impalas/. In late 1995 I bought a 1996 model. Now, in 2019, it has 27, 750 miles on it, all original , even the icky radio. She is so clean, always garaged, not parked in shopping areas, not driven in rain. She definitely resonated with me I made my husband buy it. Now he is only allowed to be a passenger. He thinks he can drive her fast, but he really ca not. She is babied now.
Wow Jane what a story and how time flies right!? When you bought your car in your late 40s I was 13 and someone on our street had one. From that point I was hooked. Lo and behold I got one last year but unfortunately sold it to help buy our first new home. Now that we're settled in I'm looking again. Interesting the contrasts in our ages yet we share a common interest in this automobile. Just driving it is pure joy. I'm very impressed with how low the mileage is on yours. It must be in tip top shape. I spent some time working for a GM contractor that did customer and dealer support. I got to talk to a lot of GM retirees to get the paperwork for their discount at the dealers. Great stories from a time that is long gone. They really don't make them like they used to. This looks better though! Especially this one! Chevy used to allways make their cars more aggressive and better looking, I’m a hard core Chevy fan, and I think the new mustang outlooks the new Camaro! I can’t believe I just said that!

ENTERNATIONALPEE most iconic muscle cars from the 80s & 90s could be beat by most fast cars today. We buy them because of what they represent to us. If it was simply about value, yes, it will always make sense to buy a new muscle or sports car.
This is one of those cars if you’re a true car guy wether foreign or domestic you cannot deny this is a beast. I’m a Ford guy, but I’ve always had owning the Impala in the back of my mind and Ford has the Marauder so that tells you a lot.
Man I've had a 91 caprice, 93 caprice wagon, 84 box, and my pride n joy **96ImpalaSS**! I've done all upgrades I can think of, all parts bought new, not 1 used part went into my build... Replaced control arms upper and lower with tubulars. Extended rear upper and lower trail arms to center rear wheels. 3.73 gears installed with new Eaton TruTrac posi unit. Wilwood oversized slotted and drilled rotors with 4 piston calipers. Motor stroked to 383 with 503 cam. Transmission rebuilt and upgraded to handle over 700hp. 3200 stall torque converter. 24x torqhead conversion kit, with gen 2 411 ls computer, can tune with hp tuners like an LS. Sway bars front and rear. Replaced all front end suspension with moog problem solver. New springs and shocks. Shocks are bilstien. Bbk headers, aluminum corvette heads. Straight piped with cat delete. Soon to have 2½" x-pipe with either super 44's or super 10's (not decided yet) I'm sure there's more but I can't think of it all. I will never get rid of this car. So much I've done to it but so much more to go. Mostly cosmetic from here out. If you own one of these cars, then you know the feeling. Enjoy them while you can. I saw my first Impala SS(96) at the local dealer in a very small town. I was 21 and did not make enough money to even attempt to buy it. I always dreamed of owning one and never had the opportunity to purchase one until now almost 48yrs old finally got the chance and money. But lord it was hard to find one someone hadn't modified to the point of ruining it or one in proper original condition. I had to travel 12hrs round trip to get it but couldn't be happier. I chose the 95 because it has all the updates w/o floor shift because every vehicle I own are column shift so I prefer it.
As the owner of a 1996 Impala this has to be one of the cleanest ones I've ever seen whoever did it did a great job and back in the days this was what a Hellcat is today this was our Hellcat but way sicker looking
I really miss my 1996 Impala SS. It was pure stock, except for a K&N. Love your touches that took the factory cheapness out. I ordered her new in Grey-Green metalic. Very nicely done.

@@Texas_Cruiser I actually ended buying the one I truly wanted the DGGM. Took awhile to find one in good condition, currently getting worked on. Engine was pulled out to paint the block a gun metal gray, new exhaust system among other upgrades engine wise. Nothing big, K&N cold intake and the Corvette rail covers. Still can't believe I have it. Great feeling.

It was pretty dinged up but had a 383 in it with the works. Now that we're settled in I'm looking again. Glad you got yours and have put in some work...just adds to the attachment. They aren't the fastest things out there but that doesn't matter...just cruising around feels nice.

Last week the engine was pulled out, this weekend the engine bay was cleaned up, getting the rhino liner from the engine bay down the chasi, got old school new valve covers in look really clean. Block gets painted this week as well as getting the headers. Afterwards it's all new exhaust. Definitely not the fastest, but always enjoy the cruising, looks and something to enjoy with my family. I had the identical car! Still Kicking my ass that I sold it! I even had a custom Gortex car cover made for it, to protect it from any moisture. It was in better that showroom condition when I sold it.
Truly a classic. I have a 1996 Impala SS and I love it. It was my Dad's so I inherit a lot of his cars. I love what you did to it and so I've been looking at different videos on RUclips as to what I should do to it. I've been contemplating on putting a LS3 motor in it because I don't like the design of the water pump and the distributor cap on the LT1. That was the worst design that GM could ever do with the LT1. Also, I love your rims on your Impala SS.
I love these cars the Caprice and Impala SS I actually own a 93 Caprice right now but my goal is to grab an Impala SS! Also the Chargers and 300s are gonna go up in value just like these in the next few years because they don’t make them anymore! Oh and that jawn is clean 💪🏾💯

I had a 1996 SS Impala ..Great car .Luxury and performance..BUT the one MAJOR FLAW the Water pump location to the distributor..The water pump fails early and when it does it wrecks the distributor..$2,500 dollars later ...its was fixed BUT within a year or so the water pump was starting to LEAK AGAIN! so I SOLD the DAM CAR...
I had a black '96 back in 2001, my senior year in high school. I owned it for about 4-5 months before I traded it in for a '98 mustang. That was a mistake! I just felt more comfortable at the time with a smaller car...but looking back at it, I should've kept that classic. You live and you learn

I have a Caprice ppv from 96..I happy with the steering column shifter and I dont need an insanely loud sound system..I have a kenwood..but will get a kamamchi.and I'll be ok with that.

I bet you surprise people with the lowering and improved suspension. I have an 04 Crown Vic CVPI that was lowered and given performance suspension parts. It is the best handling car I have owned, and I have owned many.
What are the exact dimensions of your wheels? 20x10? And what size tires are on there? Did you get or did the car come with from the previous owner extended rear trailing arms to center that back wheel? It is one of the most beautiful impalas I have ever seen! I am picking one up this up coming Monday.... I am so excited! Like you said I wanted this car since I was 15 because my mom owned one and I fell in love! So finally I am going to own my dream car

Research TorqHead 24x conversion (puts modern LS ignition on LT1).

Most people are misinformed about the optispark there’s a cover you can buy to avoid it getting wet i never had an issue with mine getting wet

I don’t remember the tire size anymore. The rim sizes were 18”. You can reach out to Colorado Customs to get the exact spec.
