I just happened to find this video as I was scrolling. I’m a subscriber on one of your other channels and have long enjoyed the time and effort you put into your content. I just picked up one of these lenses and just love it!
My husband just surprised me with this beautiful lens for my birthday! I immediately ordered a Zemlin lens cap, Kirk replacement foot and the lenscoat for it before I even saw your video😂
Thank you for taking the time & effort to review this unbelievable flagship lens. Such great images you captured the this new lens. Yes, please provide additional info regarding the Lenscoat vs Roland Pro coverings. I'd also appreciate details regarding the ground-level setup shown at the 6:50 mark during your video. Again, THANK YOU!!!
Ohh man,, congrats on this mega lens. I really want this lens and one day I will own one. I sold my 600 FL and just waiting for the perfect time to pick one up.
Thank you for this Video - i wish to see a video from you about the step by step function button use in wildlife situation - how do you setup the lens focus buttons for wildlife - graetings from germany - thanks Bernd
Nice review - would like a video / more info comparing the 400 & 600 TC lenses (can only justify one 😊) plus the accessories you deem necessary along with comment on 2x teleconverter as I’m leaning towards the 400 & 2x Tele for those times the extra reach is required
I had the 800PF for a year before the Z600 was released, and sold it when I got the 600. There are many differences between those lenses besides just the numbers printed on the barrel.
Please let me know if the difficulty is with my speaking or audio. I try hard to provide a clean audio track and it concerns me if you had trouble understanding it.
It don't matter what people say about why this lens won't work them. Flat out there is no lens that compares. It can perform and create the amazing images ilike no other . I wanted the 400 2.8 but honestly for wildlife at 400 and 560 I always need more reach. "It's too much reach" Said no wildlife photographer ever lol A second body with a 100 to 400 is the answer in my opinion. Nice video Thanks
Thank you for such an excellent video, *I would be very interested in your technique quickly switching from FX to DX mode* the images are amazing at 1260mm, thanks again look forward to more videos in the future.
Thank you! I will make a point to discuss technique in the near future. I want to compare this 600mm TC to the 400mm TC lens also. Be sure you're subscribed with notifications!
I definitely can't justify the price but I've had it ordered for many months anyway. Now if only whatever barriers exist to actually producing the lens were overcome and I could get one in hand... :) Nice review. Thanks.
Excellent job KAW- NGW shots and very helpful and descriptive video! Was also interested in that "ground-pod" set up you used and would be interested in your thoughts on that as well. LOVE the 800pf btw- Still getting used to HH it for BIF stills, but am learning quickly after only 3 trips to the dam.
i would love to know what are you planning to do with the 400 2.8 Z no you have this, i want the 400 since i think is more versatile cause is the 400 and "600 f4", and with a 1.4 tc it becomes a "600f4 and "800 5.6" i would love to see 1:1 comparasions of this since i think i have the chance to buy one of them and cant find a lot of information on this, thanks a lot
I do plan to do a comparison between the two and talk about how each fits into practical use. I am certainly planning to keep the 400, if that helps answer your question.
Absolutely. The 800/6.3 is a couple pounds lighter and can be hand-held the majority of the time. It is a bit smaller as well. I sold mine, since it became redundant - but it is far more within reach for most budgets and super sharp.
I’m torn between this 600 and the 800 PF for bird photography. I can only buy one and doing so requires getting on a long waitlist. Since I can’t rent one or try it out in any way, it’s difficult. Any advice or things I should consider before deciding which waitlist I put myself on?
That is a very subjective decision to make, and I'm sure many find themselves in a similar position. This would be a good topic for a video - I might try to do that soon!
@@KnightsandWeekends Yes, that would be a great topic for a video. I'd love to hear about your decision process for chosing which primes to keep (400 TC, 600 TC, or 800 PF). Based on your past videos, I sounds like you sold the 800 when you got the 400 TC, but did you keep both the 400 TC and 600 TC?

Oh look NIkon is announcing more lenses to come! OH cool! More promises to just make people drool and not be able to buy. WTH! Have one down to retail then move to the next and so on. Three lenses. No stock and they are getting busy to launch more! Nonsense.
I feel your frustration, and experience it myself plenty. Such is the state of marketing these days - build enormous hype and then have shortages to create perhaps an illusion of even higher demand, etc. There are some legitimate reasons of course, but the buyer often suffers far too long.
Dang that is an amazing piece of glass. Beautiful images. Such a wonderful and relaxing hobby.
Thank you very much for the compliment. Yes, it is an awesome piece of gear!
Brillant critical analysis of Nikon Z9+Nikkor 600mm telephoto lens.
Thank you!
Good review. I just received my copy last week. I will be on a trip this weekend to try it out, cant wait.
Have fun!

Thanks. Even with an NPS order, I waited 4 months - so I was very happy to get it. It is amazing - and you will love it!
That bald Eagle shot at 5:10 is stunning
Thank you very much!
Great I just Bought it !! It is amazing, what backpack do you use to transport?
I usually use the Ruggard case/pack for 600mm lenses. If you reverse the hood you can leave the Z9 attached and it fits great.

I would love to see a comparison on the Lenscoat vs Roland Pro (Which I dont know > I know the Lenscoats)
I would also like to see that comparison!
@@kilik92 I am really impressed with my RolanPro which is fitted to my 800PF.
Wow. Maybe one day. Fantastic video and thanks for taking the time to make such great content.

Thanks for the comment and suggestions. I am planning a comparison, and will try to touch on these points.
@@KnightsandWeekends cheers for that 😊
I see most of your examples were at over 1200mm effective fov. For a 1/3 stop slower, you can get a 800pf and save about 9 grand.😊

I only understood a small amount of what you said but I like what that lens does. Thanks

Do you forsee any situation where you would pick the 800/f6.3 PF over this? Maybe size and weight advantage if traveling far?
