I remember watching this game at the holiday inn in the lobby the night before I shipped out for basic training. So awesome to see WVU ruin VTech's night as my last football game I'd get to watch until exodus leave

What a game it was 1 huge reason why Va tech left for the Acc an was glad wv wasn't invited. Tech won the next 3 games after this game till 2021 an 2022 when wv won 2 straight. No other gsttmes scheduled anytime soon in this once very good rivalry.

Any particular reason as to why the game was played on a Wednesday?
Big East was trying to get more televised games. They were known as a basketball conference so they were trying to get more nation recognition

@@andrewhunt2429 that's partially true. The Beast used to be on CBS every Saturday with the SEC. Tranghese wouldn't sign to keep the contract & the SEC took over the whole network. Meanwhile we still had good football but no home & had Miami nearly, & should have, won back to back titles during the time of this game, in the Beast. That mistake with CBS was a foreshadowing of the mistakes to come & the ultimate demise of the Big East. Some guy named Larry Fitzgerald was playing over at Pitt. We had a good conference. Greed & stupidity are killers. Side note: every school that moved for football has gained absolutely nothing by moving while destroying the best basketball conference we'll ever see.

Probably why WVU owns the all time W/L advantage - they just take good players and don't care where they're from. It's honestly hilarious to me that hokie fans are so arrogant when WVU did so much to help them to a stage where they could finally be somewhat relevant
