    Well done👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻!!! I’ve found the freckles coming back and now periodically take out the aluminum polisher, rub the freckles out and buff with a high grade microfiber. There is probably a better way, but this works for me. Like Sophia my 1980 450 SL enjoys the attention😊.

    Man your engine bay looks pristine compared to mine! And with that polished up air handler cover, it's looking even better. Another helpful video, thanks!

    Always remove the air filter when doing any work on the breather. You could get particles stuck in the filter that can get sucked into the engine

    Looks good, I used dish washing soap first to remove as much dust and build up off mine. Followed by rubbing compound. Hope you have better luck than me, I think I paid too much for my 1982 380SL. Yours looks pretty clean on the outside.

      Pricing these cars is a little tough. I still don’t know if I really got a good deal with everything I’ve done to it. Thanks for watching

      @TheFutureIsImpenetrable I paid 10.5k. I probably would have paid 2k more for a 560 but wouldn’t have paid an extra 10k for a 560.

    Thanks for your video. I’m new to restoring an R107 after acquiring a 1980 450 SL last spring. I find your videos very instructive as well as inspiring. To pivot: While I don’t have a crack in my subframe having discovered the weakness and knowing the previous owner didn’t address it, I’m casting about to see what option I should pursue to fix it. Perhaps swapping out for a 560 SL subframe is the best solution??? Thanks again Dave

      Congrats! I’m glad that my videos have been helpful. From what I learned, the 450 is covered by the recall, the 380 is not, and the 560 came with the reinforcements. If I were you, I’d confirm the recall with the VIN at the dealership. Under the recall, they may install the gussets for you at no charge. Good luck. I’d like to hear an update when you have one.

      I have a 1980 450 SL. The previous owner did not address the subframe problem. I got the subframe welding brackets and Mercedes welding instructions and solved the problem in this manner. A lot less expensive than a new or pre-owned 560 subframe.
