I bought the "best of xWF" DVD for next to nix in a mall in Adelaide, South Australia 10-15 years ago. I still haven't watched it. Thanks for saving me the effort. I gather all the shows were done in one or two marathon taping sessions, then shopped around to networks, but no-one was interested. The only good that came out of it was that Hennig scored a job back in the WWF/E after someone saw him have a good match with Hogan and recommended him. Timeline wise, the taping(s) were done a year before TNA started in 2002, so long before the Nasty Boys joined TNA, which is probably why they're still okay here.
Thanks Vee so glad you are doing wrestling content again. I like your take and comical approach to thing's and hope you continue to do so perhaps with some newer WWE and AEW stuff.

This promotion was definitely intended to be a revival of the attitude era. For those who grew up watching the last days of WCW (including the disturbing nWO story) and the rise of WWE, I can hardly be understood. If you watch this the way the commentor of the video does, which is from the standpoint of a sport journalist rather than from the perspective of a fan, - well then really everything sucks. See : back in the day we did not have all the information about how matches are set up and who we are su to chear for - and we didn't care. What newer watchers have unlearned is that the actual idea is to watch the show without constantly reminding yourself that "Wrestling isn't real", like watching the latest Blockbu Action movie in a big movie theater with eyes wide open, blinking out reality for just two hours of your life.. One of the problems I see why the XWF didn’t succeed is that the roster was a mishmash of different types of pro wrestlers. Bigger companies like the WWE, WCW, etc. are/were particular about what wrestlers they will except on the roster. They won’t accept other wrestlers because they may not be a good “fit“ for their brand. But it’s almost as if the XWF excepted whoever they could afford… And whoever was left that wasn’t in the WWE and other independent circuits. This is why some matches or not that exciting, because you didn’t know who to root for, there was no build up, and they didn’t just mesh together very well. You gotta be able to tell a story in the ring, and simply matching random wrestlers up together doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be a good match. But hey, at least they gave it a shot.
I remember the XWF being advertised in Toledo Ohio, because they were planning on coming here for a show. I remember being pumped because it had some of my favorite wrestlers from the golden era of wrestling, like Greg The Hammer Valentine. I was planning on getting tickets to see them, but then the company folded up faster than I could get tickets! Oh well. It would’ve been cool to be part of short-lived history. Wasn’t meant to be.
That opening comment from Brian Knobs, or as I like to call him Mohawk Hogan, was the perfect Freudian slip to start this video with. They were laughing at him then, and they still are now.
Yes. Her getting released was the whole reason he quit and wasn’t present during the invasion angle. They broke up and divorced and the WWF brought him back in later.
I've watched everything I could find on the XWF, and I enjoyed it for what it was. Also, I don't see a problem with the Nasty Boys not facing Hawk and Animal on episode 1. I know how all this works, and it made me want to see the next episode in anticipation. However, a lot of criticisms are accurate. There were too many celebrity cameos, and it looks like they tried to make the same bad decisions of Bischoff running WCW, just with a smaller budget.
ECW was NOT "one of the biggest promotions", ya mark goof 😜 ECW was a small Northeast regional promotion. A small promotion with big impact. But still a small promotion. Virtually every other OG territory was bigger. WCCW was bigger bruh. And AWA .....
WXO wrestling came out around that time and they had even worse WCW rejects! Run by Ted DiBiase. who somehow managed to get that show on my local UHF station, which probably regretting the decision to carry that show as they barely lasted three weeks!
If they wasn't a competitor then wwe and wcw wouldn't have stole matches and talent once u get on TV with paperviews video games magazines and toys you are a competitor....they were big enough
When I saw "Hulk Hogan" and "short" in the same title, I was expecting a video about Hulk Hogan's Micro Championship Wrestling that aired on TruTV in the early-2010's.
This was 2001, I was 12 years old back then. WWE came to free channels here in Finland in 2002. I still remember Hulk Hogan in Smackdown! 2002 summer, he didn't lose single match in Smackdown! summer of 2002, but he did lost few matches in PPV's. Only problem was, I never saw WWE PPV's in year 2002, only Smackdown! and RAW.
Please keep making more wrestling content Vee, it’s how I found you way back in the day. Lost me with all the comic book vids but I love this kind of content. You’re in ur element when talkin about crap wrestling! Cheers man!

I mean, yeah, I subbed to the Social Injustice Warrior for wrestling stuff too. But it's his channel, so he should make videos on whatever he wants. And we're free to skip those other videos. It's not like there's a shortage of wrestling content out here.

They could have given us 2 cruiserweight matches and that would have stolen the show.
