- Major farm update with pond build, crawfish catch & cook, and more! I go night fishing for crawfish at a mountain lake after picking up my very first goats and bringing them back to the farm. I'll be out Trout fishing again soon and will be sure to catch more crayfish / crawdads.

This summer I haven't really been able to go out camping since where I live is basically on fire 24/7 so videos like these have been really helping me cope tbh

So this is bittersweet!! I LOVE watching your farming videos but I LOVE watching your mountain backpack videos . Having a farm, you won't be able to leave and do the mountain backpack catch and cooks with animals needing you every day on it.

If that were my spot, I'd paint that basketball court pavement white, cover with shade cloth, and build a bunch of raised garden beds. Have it screened in, and have roll up/down clear plastic, so you could use it as a green house in the winter. Raising goats is epic! Never a dull moment. You need to build a good trimming station. A bench like structure for the goat to stand on while you sit, and trim their hooves. You build a little harness that you can clip their collar to, and put a bowl of treats like fresh snipped tree growth or fruit, to distract them from the trimming of the hooves. This also desensitizes the females, if you plan to milk them for cheese in the future.

I visited my sister in march. She had 20 Battery hens (ones deemed useless by the egg production farms). She buys them and locates them in her farm, they still laid eggs, just not as often, but from her work as a Nurse in a hospital, she takes all the leftover food that will be thrown out and the neighbours she gives them buckets for their waste scraps. As soon as I would walk out to give them the scraps, two of the chickens would fly up on my shoulder to try to get the best pickings. I had to brush them off, but Chickens / chooks are good value. You never need to worry about getting rid of food scraps. Her dogs would run in and grab the bones etc. Nothing was wasted.
The animals can sense their owner feeling and thats when they follow you .and you are a awesome person and brother and i thank you for being a great person of human being and loves animals 💕

Man you are living the dream!!! That property was meant for you, a beautiful place. . I remember in mountain ponds in my state we would use weenies on a hook and line and sometimes you can just drag them in but they will all come out for the weenie.
I used to go crawfish hunting with my brother at a small river, and boil em in our wiki up shelter lol.

Pumpkinseeds may be small but they are some of the most fun fish to catch. What do you use for bait?

A couple of Gee’s minnow traps and you could slay the crawdads in that lake. You can pick them up cheap at any Walmart. Expand the openings to 2” or so, put some fish scraps in for bait, leave the traps overnight, and you’ll be in business. Good luck with the goats!
